Two funny female folks
In our school of International studies, I do not feel depressed if I do not enjoy much happiness. It is a hard fact that as an ordinary teacher I do not make much money, and it is true that I have never had a chance of making fortunes, yet I do not believe that I am living in poverty, and even though some folks might call my life poverty, I do not feel sad. Instead, I just think it's all right and that is my life.
We have an office clerk, who I can say is my co-worker in this university but not a colleague, which would mean one who also has the professional certificate, and most importantly, has the due spiritual world, to teach, or rather, to give lectures to, students. She is one of the two persons I have ever known who are so intimate as to address me by a short name, "Hui," which they invented themselves.
She usually impresses me as one who believes that she is respected and loved by all her leaders and co-workers, or colleagues if she likes to put it. She seems to try to make me an impression that she is so kind and generous that she is always ready to give me help by reminding me that I had to teach my little son a lesson now and then or by offering considerate suggestions that my wife find a job to add to my family income. It is quite disappointing to her that I never tried to persuade myself to listen to, or act in accordance with, alady a decade younger than
me although I almost always respond to her remindings and proposals with lip service, saying, "OK, Yes." "Good idea, probably I will do it." More disappointing to them, if she could spend an hour in my house, would be the fact that under my special policy, my son enjoys freedom and never gets punched.
This clerk has a mother, another woman who seems to care about me and my family every hour they are on this campus. She has almost painstakingly suggested that I give my kid "education" in case he might grow up to be an outlaw.
When she saw me on my way to my office one afternoon, she shouted, " Why? You do not have lessons to give, but why are you still going to the office?" I could almost say nothing to reply, and I said, "I am ging to do some reading." And then her remark was," Do you really want to keep studying till you are old ?"
When she saw me carrying a computer bag on my way to the classroom, she reminded the other women chatting with her by shouting to me," Why on earth are you carrying such a bag?" I could not think of a word in reply.
When I had finished a lecture one morning and was going to the classroom for a second after 10 minutes' break, she had a look up and down me and called:"Quick! Make yourself clean of the dirt on your clothes." Actually it is not very likely that a teacher will remain in clearn
and tidy cothes if he or she has adopted chalk for much handwriting in class.
