In the spring sun, my aunt and I headed for her flower shop. Normally I would be delighted to help in her shop, but not recently because of Rosa. Rosa was my sister, just one month old, who was settled in my old bedroom. For ten years, the small room was full of my toys and books. But now it was transformed into her baby room, decorated like a garden with pinks and yellows. My space, my old life, was gone.“Here we are!” We arrived at the shop, a wave of colour and sweet smell washing over me. My aunt said I could pick some flowers for Mum and Dad. I used to love this, but today I was so overcome with tiredness and envy. Why bother to bring them flowers when they were enjoying Rosa at home without me?Silently I helped my aunt arrange flowers. “Your mum told me there hasn’t been much shut eye recently for any of you.” “Not much, since Rosa the alarm clock was installed(安装),”I complained with a huge yawn(哈欠).“I remember having to creep(蹑手蹑脚地走) around like a worn-out mouse when your mum was a baby. I spent the first months hating her so much.” “But you and Mum seem so close,” I said, guiltily hiding away my envy of Rosa.“Now we are. But it took me years to grow into the role of big sister. Few flowers blossom (绽放) overnight, you know.” She pulled me in for a side hug, glancing up at the clock, and suggested I take a walk outside.Behind her shop was a field dotted with spring flowers. Stepping into the field, I began to pick little flowers. It was like gathering my childhood memories. I remembered how I’d sit with Dad, making flower chains, crowning(授予) each other with the silliest titles: Queen of Junk Food and King of Mess. My smile grew wider. The shining yellow flowers reminded me of the color in Rosa’s baby r oom. Was she awake? I wondered.注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

I had a dream from primary school: to work in television. My parents owned a little grocery store, so we were definitely not fancy people. Thankfully, my dad had raised me to have a lot of confidence. He often said, “You can do anything you want to do.” My dad was particularly supportive. He was my steady rock—always there for me.With his help and encouragement, I was admitted to the radio and television arts program at Ryerson in Toronto. I really loved the program and worked hard and I was named the most outstanding graduate. I felt like I was already living my dream. I began to think that maybe I could apply for an internship (实习资格) in CBC or CTV. Luckily, Global Television had just start ed broadcasting in Canada that year. I thought to myself: I’m new and they’re new, so if I’m going to get to know one person at Global, it might as well be the president. I was scared, but I knew deep down inside that this was what I wanted. When I called my dad and told him my plan, he said, “Good, Faye. That’s exactly what you should do.”With my heart just about pounding out of my body, I called up the president of Global Television. Suddenly Mr. Slaight was on the phone. “I’ve heard that your studio fac ilities are amazing. I could come at eleven o’clock on Monday or eleven o’clock on Sunday for a tour. Which would suit you better?” I caught him totally off guard. He stuttered a bit, and then picked a day. When I hung up, I was scared but excited.I arrived at the studio on the appointed day. When Mr. Slaight took me around, he looked at me and said, “What do you want?” He sounded furious but curious. “All I want is a chance to audition (试镜). I just want you to know my face. That’s all I’m asking.”I didn’t know whether I’d ever hear from him again, bur two weeks later, his secretary called. “Mr. Slaight wants to know if you’d like to come and audition for a new school life show.” I immediately answered, “Sure!”注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

It was the first week of Mia’s middle school. The bell’s ringing brought her out of her daydreaming. She nervously gathered her books, preparing to reach another classroom for the next new class.Mia followed the other kids and rushed into the hallway. Others walked in groups, chatted, and laughed, using the break to socialize. Mia, instead, walked alone along the wall of the hallway, with her head down. She was a shy girl, afraid to speak in front of other kids, and didn’t think others would like her.Mia finally sat in Mr. Johnson’s Language Arts class nervously. “Welcome to Language Arts,” said Mr. Johnson. He told jokes as he talked about English. Mia forgot to daydream and laughed along with the rest of the class. “We’ll have some fun with language,” he said. “Just wait and see.”Fun was far beyond what Mia desired. She just wanted to be like other kids—running with friends in the hallway, laughing and joking between classes. Reminded of her pimply (长粉刺的) face, she felt hopeless and disappointed.“Take out a piece of paper,” the teacher continued, when pointing at words on the blackboard. “Write for the next thirty minutes on this topic.” Mia began writing crazily as idea after idea fought for recognition in her head. The final result was a short story about a beautiful beach house. As she wrote, she could smell the salty air, hear the crashing waves and feel the pull of the sand beneath her feet. For just a moment, she forgot where she was. She was lost in the story.“OK, pass your papers forward,” said the teacher. “Let’s see what we have.” For the rest of the class time, the teacher read each individual’s work aloud. Mia originally thought it would be awkward. However, she was gradually attracted by the excitement in the teacher’s voice. “He’s actually enjoying this,” she thought. Whenthe class would be soon over, there were still fifteen students’ papers not read, including Mia’s paper. Then, Mr. Johnson announced his decision, asking these students to read their work themselves in front of the class next class.注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

I had the carriage on the train to myself up to Rohana, and then a girl got on. The couple seeing her off were probably her parents, they seemed very anxious about her comfort, and the woman gave the girl detailed instructions as to where to keep her things, when not to lean out of windows, and how to avoid speaking to strangers. As I had become blind by then, I could not tell what the girl looked like, but I knew she wore slippers from the way they slapped against her heels.“Are you going all the way to Dehra Dun?” I asked her as the train pulled out of the station.I must have been sitting in a dark comer, perhaps because my voice amazed her. She gave a little scream, and said, “I didn’t know anyone else was here.”" I didn’t see you either at first,’’ I said. "But I heard you come in." I wondered if I would be able to prevent her from discovering that I couldn’t see. I thought, provided I kept to my seat, it shouldn’t be too difficult.“I’m getting down at Saharanpur,’’ the girl said. “ Where are you going?”“To Dehra Dun, and then to Mussoorie," I replied."Oh, lucky you! I wish I were going to Mussoorie. I love the mountains, especially in October."“Yes,this is the best time. I s aid, calling on my memories when I could see. "The hills are covered with wild flowers, the sun is delicious, and at night you can sit in front of a log fire and drink a little brandy."Most of the tourists have gone, and for a while we sat in silence. She was silent, and I wondered if my words had touched her.
