C.They must be led by teachers.D.They must have ID cards with them.Star Wars fans would be familiar with the good relationship between humans and droids (机器人) in the movies. In the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lando Calrissian risked his life to rescue his co-pilot, a female droid L3-37. In real life, a humanoid robot, Sophia, has recently been granted (给予) citizenship in Saudi Arabia. Increasingly, people are ready to see robots as resembling humans. Given this phenomenon, I believ it is necessary to consider giving robots certain rights humans enjoy.Experts have argued that since robots have now acquired human-like qualities, it is appropriate to consider if they should have rights just as humans. Sophia has a human like face and utilizes artificial intelligence to respond to speech and express emotions. For such a lifelike being that is potentially capable of expressing emotions, does it not deserve the right to be loved and respected?Robots should also be given legal and moral protection as harming a robot may be similar to harming humans. Since people tend to form attachments to social robots, it becomes possible for companies to control the hardware and software to exploit this emotional attachment. There is a danger that data that is stored in the robot could be uploaded to the cloud. There would then possibly be situations in which the government or private sector retrieves (检索数据) the information stored in a robotic toy or social robot. With these uncertainties, it is clear why robots should be protected, just as humans. An even more irresistible reason to grant human rights to the robots is the protection of societal values. We should stop a young child from kicking or tearing a toy robot apart because it resembles a real life. Giving robots certain rights will ensure that societal standards are set.Still, many have roundly argued that no matter how sophisticated (老练的) they may be, robots are still machines. It is therefore quite ridiculous to treat them as living beings and grant them rights. However, with the advancement in technology, it is a matter of time before robots are fully anthropomorphized (赋予人的特征), and we would have to consider granting them rights. In conclusion, deciding whether robots deserve human rights is by no means an easy task, but now is the time to start the conversation on this and seriously consider the possibility.4.Why does the author mention the two examples in the first paragraph?A.To remind readers of the importance of robots.B.To discuss the necessity of rescuing robots.C.To set readers thinking about an issue about robots.D.To describe the relationship between humans and robots.5.What’s the main idea of Paragraph 3?A.Robots should be legally and morally protected.B.There is possible information risk.C.Humans are doing harm to robots.D.Robots should be given more emotional attachment.6.What’s the author’s attitude towards granting robots human rights?A.Doubtful.B.Favorable.C.Negative.D.Uncaring.7.What’s the structure of the passage?(①=Para. 1①=Para. 2①=Para. 3①=Para. 4①=Para. 5①=Para. 6)A.①—①①①①—①B.①①—①①①—①C.①—①①—①①①D.①—①①①—①①One cold winter day, a dog walked to the edge of an icy river in Poland. Nobody know for sure where the dog came from or what he was doing there. But he was about to have a big adventure.Without warning, the ice that the dog was standing on broke away from the land. The dog was swept down the river on the sheet of ice half the size of football field. The frightened dog looked for a way to get back to the shore, but he was trapped on the ice. The river was too cold for him to swim to safety. Some firefighters saw the dog drifting down the river as he passed through their city. They tried to help him, but they couldn’t reach him. The firefighters could only watched as the ice carried the dog farther down the river. On the fourth day, the dog passed the mouth of the river and was swept out into theBaltic Sea. He had traveled more than 75 miles (120km) from where he began. he was moving farther away from land and any hope of rescue. The piece of ice he was standing on shrunk to the size of picnic table. The dog was facing a deadly end to his an adventure, but his luck was about to change. some scientists and sailors aboard a research ship named the Baltica were passing through the area. They saw an animal moving on the ice in the distance and decide to ascertain. At first, people on the ship thought the animal was a seal. They were amazed when they got closer and saw that the “seal” had four legs, floppy ears, and a tail. They had found a dog floating on the ice 15 Miles (24km) from land. The Baltica’s sailors were able to bring their ship close to the dog. They lowered a net next to the dog, but he was too scared to climb into it. The dog even slipped and fell into the cold water while they were trying to help him. Luckily, he was able to climb back onto the slippery ice.Fearing that the dog would drown, the crew lowered a raft. Adam, the ship’s mechanic, used the raft to get close to the dog. Adam grabbed the dog by the back of the neck and pulled him into the raft. Now, Baltic is the mascot(吉祥物) of the research ship that found him and travels with the crew everywhere. He has many fans around the world who learned about his incredible journey and rescue. The president of Poland even wrote a letter to the crew of the ship, praising them for saving Baltic’s life. Baltic started out cold, wet, and alone on the ice but ended up warm, dry, and surrounded by new friends.8.What is the main problem in this story?A.The dog slipped into the water.B.The dog was trapped on a piece of floating ice.C.The dog had nothing to eat for days.D.The river was too cold for the dog to swim in.9.How do you understand the underlined word in paragraph 5?A.Do some research B.Solve a problemC.Rescue someone D.Try to find out more about it 10.What can best describe the dog?A.Adventurous and Lucky B.Brave and PersistentC.Homeless and Brave D.Scared and Fortunate11.What can be the best title of the article?A.A 15-mile Icy Adventure.B.Baltic RescueC.An Adventurous Dog D.An Incredible JourneyEvery year thousands of people come to the city of Pamplona, in north-eastern Spain, for the opportunity to run for their lives as six fighting bulls are released to charge through the town. There are injuries and deaths every year, but the event is of interest to many people. A paper just published in Science describes the insight the event offers into the psychology of panicked crowds. That is a useful topic to explore. Arehitects, civil engineers and urban planners must try to work out how people will behave in the event of a disaster like a fire, a flood or a terrorist attack so they can design their creations to avoid potentially deadly collisions (碰撞). Unfortunately, solid information is hard to come by. Daniel Parisi, the paper’s lead author, realised that the Pamplona bull-runs offered the perfect natural experiment.Dr Parisi and his team went to two different rooftop locations in Pamplona in July 2019, and filmed the runners as the animals were released, Later in the lab, they calculated the speed of the runners, the density (密度) of the crowd, the probability of a runner tripping and falling and the relationship between runner-group density and speed.Perhaps unsurprisingly, the researchers found that runners picked up speed when the bulls drew near. Less expected was the finding that the speed of individual runners increased with the density of the crowd, which was contrary to a long-held assumption in architectural and urban-design circles that people will slow their pace as group density goes up, in order to lower the risk of a collision, which could lead to a fall and, perhaps, injury or death.Yet it seems that, in the heat of the moment, people pay little attention to the danger of colliding with each other, and do not slow down. The responsibility therefore falls upon urban designers to work out how best to plan the construction of future tunnels, bridges and other passages that restrict flow. The only option may well be to make them wider.12.What did Dr Parisi and his team do in Pamplona?A.They proved his theory.B.They recorded a bull-run.C.They watched a thrilling bull-fight.D.They designed a psychological experiment.13.What was the unexpected finding in the study?A.People slowed down in crowded areas.B.Tripping posed a danger to bull-runners.C.Bulls coming near made people running faster.D.People tended to speed up in high-density crowds.14.What is implied in the last paragraph?A.People lose their mind in disasters.B.Future tunnels and bridges may be wider.C.Panicked crowds are aware of the danger of collision.D.Restricting flow helps to prevent people colliding each other.15.Which is the best title for the text?A.How crowds react to panicB.Bull-runs caught on in SpainC.Dr Parisi’s finding shocks the worldD.What architects can learn from bull-running二、七选五With climate change continuing to worsen, our situation is beginning to feel increasingly serious. ____16____ Is it right? Maybe not.Techno-optimism is one of the greatest misconceptions when it comes to solutions to ensure our future. It can be defined as a belief that future technologies will solve all of our current problems. This definition reinforces (强化) the idea that there’s no reason to panic or change our current energy-intensive lifestyle. All society needs to do is look to green technology to work its magic. ____17____One of the best examples of this optimistic misconception is the electric car. Despite being highly regarded as an eco-friendly way to get around, electric cars are not the end for the future of transport. Batteries in electric cars use chemical elements which we could be seeing a shortage of by the midcentury. ____18____ Techno-optimism has led many to believe that if everyone just switched to driving electric vehicles, we would be making incredible steps towards sustainability. However, the reality is that the amount of resources and energy needed to produce enough electric vehicles for everyone is not even remotelysustainable.____19____ Investing in public transportation and moving away from individually owned vehicles. Producing fewer cars. Improving recycling practices of old batteries. The solutions we seek should not be rooted in new technology, but be about changing the way our society functions.Techno-optimism puts too much emphasis on technology and not enough on what we can do right this minute. Unfortunately, people seem to like the picture that techno-optimism paints. ____20____ It is important to understand that the problem begins when we see those technologies as a way to make our current lifestyles eco-friendly. Until we are ready to face the need for a less complex life, we cannot make true progress towards sustainability. A.So where should we look for answers instead?B.The modern world’s simple solution is technology.C.Moreover, they are more energy intensive to produce.D.Is it a trap that many people have fallen into in recent years?E.Unfortunately, this is an incredibly dangerous opinion to hold.F.Despite any technology, we as a whole are not living sustainably.
