教学设计Unit 7 Memory Corner( 2nd period, reading)Teaching DesignI.There are 6 periods in Unit 7. This is the 2nd period and it is focused on thereading part——“Memory Corner”II.Teaching design1.The analysis of students1)Students are from Class 7, Grade 8. Most of the students have learned English For more than seven years. The students are very active, and they are curious about new things and have a strong desire to learn better. However, their English learning levels are different from each other. Some students can learn English very well, but some students have some trouble with English and they need to get help and encouragement from the English teacher and classmates for their further study.2)The whole class is arranged in groups of 6 or 7 students with a leader in each group, so that they can share with each other, learn from each other and help each other.3)Before class, the teacher made a survey and found that some students have an amazing memory on a certain aspect, so these students prepared a speech with slides ahead of time.2.The analysis of the teaching material1)My teaching topic is “Memory Corner” from Unit 7, “English” Junior English Book 8A, which is published by Shanghai Education Press. In this period, the language function is to practise listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.2)This period mainly practises the reading skills of students. As we know, the reading ability is very important for junior middle school students. Besides the textbooks, students are demanded to do more supplementary reading in their spare time, so it’s necessary for them to grasp the different reading methods, such as predicting, skimming and scanning, intensive reading, etc. In the previous units, for example, in unit 6, the reading strategy how to get the main ideas of the paragraphs ina story is mentioned. So in Unit 7, we’ll go on with reading strategies.3)The topic of this period is “Memory Corner”,which is about three short articles on how to improve the memory.
