1. 教材分析
本单元以Amazing people为话题,介绍了几位有杰出贡献的人物。旨在通过本单元的学习,使学生了解探险家Howard Carter的成长经历及其最令人惊奇的发现;能模仿课文描述自己心目中的杰出人物及其贡献;同时培养学生预测文章内容的能力;能通过具体语境学习新单词;学习有关后缀的知识及有关职业的词汇。本单元的主要任务是写一篇传记。要求学生通过掌握三种技能运用三个步骤来完成这一任务。本单元的最终目标落实在Project部分,要求学生通过小组活动形式完成一个关于一位专业人士的传记故事,并向班内同学展示其活动成果。本单元的话题可引起学生的思考,使他们学习杰出人物所具有的优秀品质,树立远大理想,在今后的学习生活中逐步培养坚韧不拔、勤于思考的优良品质,成为推动社会进步的有用人才。
1.1 Welcome to the unit 是本单元的一个热身活动,介绍了四位在各自领域做出杰出贡献的人物,引导学生讨论他们的成就对今天生活的影响,从而引出本单元的话题:Amazing people。
1.2 Reading 包括A、B、C、D、E和F 五项活动。A部分设置了三个阅读理解题,要求学生根据题目及第一段话预测课文内容,并在快速阅读后找出相关细节信息。B部分是一篇关于著名探险家Howard Carter 的探险故事。C部分两个题目分别考查找学生查找信息和概括段落大意的能力。D部分帮助学生利用单词释义来理解词的确切含义。E部分要求学生通过语境选择适当的词填空,是对学生综合理解能力的培养。F部分是一个会话练习。以所给对话为例引导学生讨论有待人类去探索的地区及历史上的杰出人物及其贡献。

1.5 Task的主要任务是完成一份履历。其中包含了三种技巧并分别设计了三个步骤帮助学生运用这些技巧来完成任务。
第一、通过听力训练方式掌握序数词、基数词及数字、年代等的读法及用法。
第二、学习履历写作的相关知识,学会根据主题取舍信息。
第三、学会组织所给信息。在掌握技巧的基础上,按照要求逐步完成所给任务,最后写出一份履历和传记。
1.6 Project部分提供了一篇描写宇航员杨利伟的成长经历的文章。要求学生在阅读后根据所给步骤,以小组活动的形式搜集一位专业人士的有关信息,然后以板报的形式介绍给其他同学。旨在培养学生的听说读写及搜集、处理信息的能力。
1.7 Self-assessment 要求学生对本单元各项学习内容及效果进行自我检测,鼓励学生进行自我评估及自我改进,培养自我学习和调控的能力。
2. 教材重组
根据教材内容与单元目标分析,本单元可分为十课时。
2.1将Welcome to the unit作为Reading 的热身与Reading及Workbook中Language
practice A1、 D1整合为一节精读课。
2.2将Word power 与Workbook中Language practice A2、 B1、 B2设计为一节词汇学习课。
2.3 将Grammar and usage 与Workbook中Language practice C1、 C2、 D2设计为一节语法学习课。
2.4 Task 包括三个部分,每个部分都包含一个技能训练项目;三个步骤在内容和能力训练方式上相对独立但又相互关联,因此可以设计成三个课时,分别为输入练习(1)、输入练习(2)和成果展示。
2.5 将Workbook 中的Reading 设计为一节泛读课。
2.6 将Workbook 中的Listening设计为一节听力和口语课。
2.7 将Workbook中的Writing设计为一节写作课。
2.8 将课本Project部分设计为一节语言实践课。
