Teaching aims:

1. Can understand and say :”I have a new friend. He is tall and strong.

He is…”

2. Can listen and repeat the new words.

3. Can describe your friends with some adjectives.

2. Words: tall short long hair short hair thin strong quiet

Teaching difficulties:

1. Pronunciation :friendly thin

2. Her and his the use of the sentence.

Teaching process:

Step1:Warm-up/Review.

1. Greetings.

Ask a student to show her study articles and say: ”I have…”, other

students flow her ”Me too.”.

2.Show a picture about two balls (review the words: big small).Then ask

the students to read.

3.Show a picture about two person (review the words: tall short). Then ask the students to read.

4.Show a picture about two pencils (review the words: long short). Then

ask the students to read.

Review words: big small long short tall

Step2: Presentation.

2. Show a picture about a girl.

T: I have a new friend. She is short.

She is thin.( Teach the word: thin)

T: She is short and thin. ( Teach the phrase: short and thin)

T: She has long hair. (Teach the phrase: long hair)

She has two big eyes.

T: She is friendly.(Teach the word: friendly)

3. Show a picture about Yao Ming.

T: I’ll show you a photo. Look, who’s he?

Ss: Yao Ming.

T: Yes, you are right. He is Yao Ming.

He is tall.

He is strong.(Teach the word: strong.)

T: He is tall and strong. ( Teach the phrase: tall and strong)

T: He has short hair.( Teach the phrase: short hair)

He has two small eyes.

3. The teacher put her right hand on her mouth make the students quiet. Then show a picture about Yao Ming ,and teach the word. Let the

students read the word: quiet. Pay attention to pronunciation.

4.Show a picture about a man and a woman.

T: She is tall and thin. ( Teach the phrase: tall and thin)

T: He is short and strong. ( Teach the phrase: short and strong)

Step3: Practice.

1. Group work.

Ask the students to describe the characteristics in the picture, then

ask some group to act.(Group in four. Each group need to choose two

students. One student to describe and the other one need to guess.)

2.Describe the characteristics of a friend.

e.g.

I have a new friend.

He is strong. (short/tall/thin/tall and strong…)

He has short hair.

She is strong. (short/tall/thin/tall and strong…)

She has long hair.

Step 4: Homework.

1. Write the words and phrases 8 times.

(单词、词组写8遍)

2. Introduce your friend to your parents in English.
