Now, did you know there are more than six billion people on the planet, and by 2050 there might be more than nine billion? People are living longer and healthier lives than ever before, but a big population means big problems for the planet.Part 2Let’s look at three of the most important problems. The first problem is water. Many people in the world can’t get enough water. But in some countries we use too much. A person in Gambia, Africa, for example, uses much less water than someone in the United States. In Gambia, one person uses four and a half liters of water a day. But in the US it’s 600 liters. And to make the problem worse, the deserts are gettingbigger. The Sahara Desert is one of the hottest places in the world, and is already the largest desert. But each year it gets bigger than before, so it gets more difficult to find clean water. Our second problem is the animals. There are more people on the earth than ever before. This means we use more space. And for the animals this means that there is less space than before. One example is the Amazon Rainforest. It has the highest number of plant and animal species in the world, but it’s getting smaller every year. People are destroying the rainforest to make more space for houses, roads and farms. In the last 10 years we have destroyed more than 150,000 square kilometers of forest –that’s an area larger than Greece! So in the future, many plants and animal species will become extinct. And the last problem on our list, but not the least important, is the weather. The world is getting warmer. The ice in Greenland is melting faster than ever before. Also sea levels are rising. This means that soon some of the world’s most important cities, like New York, London, Bangkok, Sydney and Rio de Janeiro might all be under water.ViewingScriptsJL = Joanna Lumley; T = Tura; KS = Kjetil SkoglieJL: The far north. Fairytale mountains. It’s just fabulously beautiful. The land of the magical Northern Lights is somewhere I’ve longed for all my life. As a little girl I lived in the steamy heat of tropical Malaysia. I used to yearn to be cold. I’d never even seen snow. But my storybooks were full of snow queens, and now I’m enteringthat world. This is the journey I’ve always dreamt of making. I feel I’ve come into another world now. No people except you and us. And if we’re very lucky we might see the elusive Northern Lights. I pack up things that are going to be essential on every trip. So in here I’ve got, for instance, oil-based pastels; and I’ve got a lovely little drawing book, but I’ve got that colored pages so that you can draw in different colors; a lovely old guidebook –it’s called The Land of the Vikings. It’s got beautiful old maps. Look at that. But if it wasn’t for one item in my case, I wouldn’t be on this journey at all. This is the book: Ponny the Penguin. This is when I first heard of the Northern Lights. And there was this picture which haunted me of a sort of rippling curtain and a little tiny penguin. This is not your average taxi rank at the station. I’m in the hands of Tura Christiansen and his team of 11 sled dogs. Good morning. I’m Joanna.T: Tura.JL: Tura. How nice to see you, Tura.T: Yes.JL: These are wonderful dogs.T: They like to … to, er …JL: They like to run?T: Yes.JL: The weather near Troms? is uncertain. But local guide, Kjetil Skoglie, promises me we’ll track down the lights even if it takes till morning. I can’t see anything, Kjetil.KS: No, it’s … it’s nothing yet. You just have to be patient.JL: OK, so I just wait here.KS: Yeah, you just wait here.JL: Yeah.KS: Good luck.JL: Thanks, Kjetil. I stand in the pitch-black by the side of the fjord, and wait. Look, much brighter there. Oh, something’s happening there. Oh … Look up here! Look what’s happening here! Look at that! Oh … Oh!Look at this! And it just keeps changing and changing. I can’t believe I’m seeing this. It’s fantastic and it’s coming back again. I have been waiting all my life to see the Northern Lights. I’m as happy as can be. This is the most astonishing thing I have ever, ever seen.Speaking for communicationRole-playScriptsPart 1A: The best sense of direction? Perhaps it’s the butterfly.B: Er … I’m not sure.A: It’s hard to say. Well, it could be sea turtles.B: Maybe.A: They swim everywhere, don’t they?B: Um, i t might be, but I think it’s the butterfly. It can’t be the taxi driver, can it?A: It’s definitely not the taxi driver.C: OK, here are the answers. Sea turtles travel 3,000 miles a year. And when they lay eggs, they go back to the place where they were born. So they have a great sense of direction. New York taxi drivers drive 37,500 miles a year. They know the fastest way to any address in New York. But sea turtles and taxi drivers do not have the best sense of direction!B: So it must be the butterfly.C: The winner is the monarch butterfly. At the end of every summer, they fly from Canada to Mexico. And no one knows how they do it.Part 2A: Er, so who’s the best athlete? That’s a good question.B: I’m not sure.A: It could be triathletes.B: Or rats?C: Rats are the winners. A rat is the superman of animals. Rats can kill animals that are much bigger than they are, and they can eat electric wires. They can swim a mile and survive in water for 3 days. They can also jump 3 feet and fall 45 feet and survive.A: That’s amazing.Part 3B: Who sleeps the most? Let me think. Um, it can’t be the human baby, can it? And it’s not the black bear.A: It must be the sloth. They spend most of their lives asleep.B: So what’s the answer?C: Well, the black bear sleeps for about 7 months a year. The females are even half asleep when they have their babies.B: Wow.C: Human babies usually sleep about 18 hours a day, but only in their first few months. So sloths are the winner. The most popular places are Thailand and India. Have you got any idea of where you’d like to go?M: Well, we were thinking of flying to a small island where we can enjoy some special local food.Q: Where does the conversation most probably take place?Conversation 2M: Have you ever tried diving in the sea? No words can describe the beauty of the sea. You lose track of time down there!W: No, I’m kind of frightened. I mean I hear all these stories about getting sick from going up too fast to the surface and dangerous fish.Q: What makes the woman scared of diving?Conversation 3W: Many people are concerned about the rising costs of fuel.M: I think they are a little short-sighted; they should look on the bright side. With higher costs, people will be forced to use less energy. We can thus save more energy, which is good for the environment.Q: What does the man think of the rise of fuel costs?Conversation 4M: I’ve never been to the mountains before. I’m not much of an adventurer, you know.W: Well, join us. It’s great spending some time with friends and just being close to nature. And when you come back, you’ll be a new person, relaxed and ready to study again.Q: According to the woman, what can the man benefit from going to the mountains? Conversation 5M: Look! The sun is shining. We haven’t seen the sun for ages. It’s been raining for a week! It’s much too beautiful a day to waste indoors reading, cooking or cleaning. W: You are right. Let’s make the most of it.Q: What are the man and woman probably going to do?Long conversationScriptsW: I just saw a great movie about the true story of Christopher McCandless’ trip to the Alaskan wilderness in 1992. It was so inspiring! His love of nature was so beautiful.M: Well, I read about his story. He was foolish and just threw his life away!W: Why would you say that? It’s a shame that he died, but at least he lived doing what he loved. Can you imagine living in Alaska alone, eating only the plants you can gather and the animals you can hunt?M: No, that’s just it! He died in the wilderness because he thought nature was magical and kind. He needed to realize that nature is powerful and full of risks! Christopher was completely unprepared for the many dangers of the Alaskan wilderness.W: Like what? He found shelter and he had a gun to hunt!M: He did not use his map of the area – there was a boat where he could get help only a quarter of a mile away! H e didn’t have any emergency food supplies! Most of all, he had no emergency communication equipment. Any one of those three things would have saved his life!W: Yes, he should have been more prepared, but I still admire what he was trying to do.M: It’s no t romantic! Five famous outdoor specialists were interviewed. They all said he should have lived. He died because he was unprepared!W: Still, I admire his spirit for trying!Q1: What are the man and woman talking about?Q2: What can we learn about Christopher?Q3: What does the woman think about Christopher taking the trip to Alaska?Q4: Which of the following is NOT mentioned as something that would have saved Christopher’s life?Passage 1ScriptsWithin five seconds of taking off, an avalanche can move at 80 miles an hour, so people rarely have time to run out of the way. But these days, avalanches don’t often strike skiers at official skiing zones because the ski patrol makes sure the skiing areas are safe.An avalanche occurs when one entire area or layer of snow slides off another layer below it. When a layer starts to slide, anything on top is carried along, and the avalanche picks up whatever lies in its path as it moves down a slope, including rocks, trees and people. When a person starts to travel across an area of unstable snow, their weight can start a slide. As long as skiers stay in the official ski areas, they don’t have to worry. “We control the hazard, so it is unlikely you’ll get caught,” explains Mike, a snow safety expert. “We do that by p ressing the snow together to make it more solid, and we use explosives to make an avalanche move or to test an area to see if it is unstable.” This work can be dangerous, so ski patrol members look out for each other and keep the public at a safe distance.Mike and his colleagues also dig holes in the snow to study the layers. After they go back, they enter measurements into a computer; a special software creates a chart showing how the different layers are holding up. If an area looks risky, the ski patrol closes it.Q1: What speed can an avalanche reach within five seconds of taking off?Q2: According to the passage, under what circumstances may an avalanche occur?Q3: What are skiers advised to do to avoid being caught in an avalanche?Q4: Why does the ski patrol use explosives?Passage 2Scripts and answersAnna was awarded a special day out for herself and her family after taking part in a competition run by a magazine in April, beating over 2,000 people who 1) participated in the event.Anna’s wild day out will include a special tour of the city’s nature park, with exclusive 2) access to areas of the site that are not usually available to the public. During her visit, Anna is likely to see some natural wonders including rare birds feeding their young and a 3) tremendous number of newly hatched chicks. Anna may also see a great flamingo 4) currently nesting at the nature park after it escaped from the zoo last year. The most 5) incredible thing is that Mike Dilger, a well-known wildlife reporter for BBC, will 6) accompany the family throughout the day. It’s an 8) amazing time of year for a visit –the hatching season is well underway, so there are lots of chicks hatching across the park, and as parents take regular trips to find food for their young, there is a very good chance of 9) catching a glimpse of some of our very rare birds. Anna will have a great day; we are really 10) looking forward to her visit.”。
"The Wizard of Oz has always been a magical and enchanting tale in my heart. It's a story that takes me to a land full of color, adventure, and fantastical characters. In my vision of 'The Wizard of Oz', Dorothy Gale is not just a young girl from Kansas who gets swept up in a tornado and transported to a land far, far away. She is a symbol of courage, determination, and the power of friendship. Her journey, along with her newfound friends - the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Lion - teaches us that no matter how big the challenges may seem, with the right attitude and the support of our friends, we can overcome anything. The Land of Oz itself is a vibrant and colorful place, full of mysterious creatures, challenges, and wonders. It's a place where dreams come true and imagination runs wild. From the vibrant flowers and towering trees to the weird and wonderful residents, every detail is carefully crafted to bring out the magic and enchantment of the story. The Wizard, although initially portrayed as a powerful and mysterious figure, turns out to be just a man behind a curtain. This twist in the story teaches us that true power and wisdom often come from within, and not from external sources or appearances.Lastly, the message of home and belonging is a strong theme throughout the story. Dorothy's desire to return to her Kansas home despite all the wonders and adventures she experiences in Oz reminds us that home is where our hearts are, and no matter where we go or what we encounter, our true belonging is always with our loved ones.In conclusion, my vision of 'The Wizard of Oz' is a magical and enchanting world where dreams come true, friendship prevails, and the true essence of power and wisdom is revealed. It's a story that continues to inspire and captivate me, and I believe it will do the same for generations to come."在我心目中的《绿野仙踪》是一部充满魔法和魅力的故事。

Fairytale mountains. It's just fabulously beautiful. The land of the magical Northern Lights is somewhere I've longed for all my life. As a little girl I lived in the steamy heat of tropical Malaysia. I used to yearn to be cold. I'd never even seen snow. But my storybooks were full of snow queens, and now I'm entering that world. This is the journey I've always dreamt of making. I feel I've come into another world now. No people except you and us. And if we're very lucky we might see the elusive Northern Lights. I pack up things that are going to be essential on every trip. So in here I've got, for instance, oil-based pastels; and I've got a lovely little drawing book, but I've got that colored pages so that you can draw in different colors; a lovely old guidebook it's called The Land of the Vikings. It's got beautiful old maps. Look at that. But if it wasn't for one item in my case, I wouldn't be on this journey at all. This is the book: Ponny the Penguin. This is when I first heard of the Northern Lights. And there was this picture which haunted me of a sort of rippling curtain and a little tiny penguin. 如何培养想象力和创造力英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1How to Grow Your Imagination and CreativityHave you ever looked up at the clouds and seen shapes like animals, monsters, or castles? Or maybe you've taken a few random toys and turned them into characters for an awesome adventure? If so, you were using your imagination – that amazing ability we all have to create pictures, stories, and ideas in our minds.Imagination is like a muscle – the more you use it, the stronger it gets. And having a strong imagination can lead to all sorts of awesome things, like coming up with creative stories, inventions, works of art, or solutions to problems. Pretty cool, right? The good news is that you can train your imagination just like you train your body by exercising. With some fun activities and practice, your creative muscles will get bigger and stronger. Ready to get started? Let's go!Make Time for DaydreamingSometimes the best ideas and imaginative thoughts come when our minds are wandering freely. The next time you're stuck waiting somewhere, instead of pulling out your tablet or phone, let your mind roam. Look around and make up stories about what you see. For example, that dog walker could be a spy in disguise, or those clouds could be exotic creatures migrating south. Flex your daydreaming skills and see where your thoughts take you.Read, Read, Read!Books are like gateways into other worlds and lives. The more you read, the more spaces your mind has to explore. Make sure to mix it up by reading different genres like fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries, comics, and non-fiction too. Ask yourself questions as you're reading to engage your imagination even more: What would I do if I were that character? How could the story have been different? What other adventures could take place in that world?Tell StoriesStorytelling is an excellent way to build your creative skills. Make up tales during car rides or over meals. You can either riff off something you read or saw that day, or go completely wild with an imaginary scenario like "What if elephants could fly?" or"What if vegetables came alive while we were sleeping?" Take turns adding to the story, helping each other stretch your imaginative powers.Draw Your IdeasYou don't have to be an amazing artist to put your ideas on paper through drawing or sketches. Doodle your daydreams, draft new character or creature designs, map out your own fantasy world – whatever inspires you. Drawing forces you to make choices about details, so it stretches both your imagination and problem-solving abilities.Make Crafts and BuildHands-on creating is also a great way to unlock your imagination. Building toys like Legos are perfect for model making. Craft supplies like cardboard bricks, tape, fabric, and recyclables can be turned into new toy creations using your inventive abilities. Don't just follow instructions – dream up your own designs and structures too. Maybe you'll come up with something that's never existed before!Play Make-Believe GamesYou're never too old for make-believe and roleplay games. Pretend you're explorers on an alien planet or superheroesfighting off evil robots. Use random household objects as your accessories and props. Get into character and think about how that person, creature or being would behave as you act out your story. The more you immerse yourself in made-up worlds, the more your imaginative skills will grow.Keep an Idea JournalCarry a small notebook or journal to quickly capture any creative thoughts, stories, inventions, or drawings that pop into your head throughout the day. That way, your ideas won't be forgotten but can be expanded on later. Over time, you'll have a vast collection of imaginative seeds to help inspire you.Don't Be Afraid of "Silly" IdeasSometimes kids get self-conscious and start limiting their own creativity by worrying about what others think. But where would we be without "silly" ideas? Robots, planes, computers, and so many other cool inventions probably seemed pretty silly to someone at first. Let your ideas be as weird, wild, and silly as they want to be. The crazier, the better! There are no wrong ideas.Use All Your SensesTo really fire up your imagination, tap into all five of your senses. What would that magical forest smell like? What amazing sound would a unicorn make? How would a magical fire breath feel? Involving your sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch makes imaginary experiences seem even more real and vivid.Keep Practicing! The absolute best way to build up your imagination and creative muscles is through practice, practice, practice. Spend a little time each day on an imaginative activity or game. Stretch your creativity as much as you can. The more you do it, the stronger your imaginative powers will become. Who knows what incredible thoughts, stories, artwork or inventions you might come up with?So keep using that amazing imagination of yours. The most creative people in the world imagined their way to wonderful new ideas first. With some daydreaming, pretending, storytelling and creative playtime, there's no limit to what you can imagine too!篇2How to Grow Your Imagination and CreativityDo you ever feel like your brain is a little rusty when it comes to having great ideas? Or maybe you struggle to think of fun games to play or cool stories to tell your friends. Well, you're not alone! Exercising our imagination and creativity muscles is super important, but it's also a skill that needs practice. The good news is that there are lots of easy ways to get better at it. Let me share some of my favorite tips! One of the very best ways to get those creative juices flowing is to read, read, read! Books are like gateways into other worlds and lives. When you read fiction stories, it's like your brain is getting a workout in dreaming up new characters, places and adventures. Non-fiction books can spark your creativity too by teaching you about fascinating true topics that might inspire you. Ask your parents to take you to the library often and don't be afraid to explore all the different sections.Another great creativity booster is playing make-believe games. This could mean dressing up and acting out fun scenes, creating plays with some friends, or even just using your imagination to envision yourself as a brave knight, smart scientist or world explorer. Don't be afraid to be silly and go on outrageous make-believe adventures! The more you exercise this part of your brain, the stronger it will become.Arts and crafts are also an amazing outlet for creativity. Get out those crayons, paints, colored pencils or any other art supplies and let your imagination run wild. You can draw crazy creatures, design new inventions or illustrate favorite stories. Crafting with everyday materials like cardboard boxes, paper bags or fabric scraps can motivate you to get imaginative in how you re-use things. And don't forget about creative writing stories, poems or comic strips!Spending time outdoors is a great way to re-charge your creative batteries too. Look for shapes in the clouds, examine all the different kinds of plants and insects, and let the sights and sounds of nature unlock your curiosity. You could even bring a notebook to write or draw about what you observe. Being outside gets you seeing the world in a new way.Music, dance and drama are also wonderful tools forself-expression. Make up new songs or choreographed dances. Gather some friends and put on a play you create yourselves. Talking puppets or stuffed animals can help bring stories to life. Don't be afraid to experiment with different artistic outlets to stretch your creativity. One of the most fun ways to flex your imagination is through games, puzzles and brainteasers. Riddles, jigsaw puzzles, mindbenders...they all get your wheels turning in unique ways. You can find activity books at bookstores or make up new games of your own. Having an "imagination buddy" to trade creative ideas back and forth with is also a great way to keep expanding your thinking. The key thing to remember is that developing a strong imagination takes practice, just like building a muscle. Set aside time every day to dream, pretend, and make-believe through reading, writing, artwork, games or creative play. Don't be afraid to use those imagination muscles either - the more you use them, the stronger they'll grow!Being creative and imaginative also means not being scared to think differently than others. The greatest inventors, artists and thinkers are those who think outside the box and explore new possibilities. If you have an idea that seems a little zany at first, don't dismiss it! Let your creativity loose and see where it takes you.Lastly, pay attention to the world around you and really observe it. So many of the coolest inventions or most creative ideas start by simply taking a fresh look at something. Make a habit of examining the little details in nature, listening to uniquesounds, or looking at everyday objects in new ways. This helps get your mind thinking creatively. The great thing about exercising your imagination is that it makes life so much more fun and interesting. With practice, you'll start seeing the world in a whole new light, dreaming up incredible stories, games and inventions. You'll be able to express yourself in unique ways through art, writing, music and performance. Most importantly, you'll never be bored because you'll have the power to dream up endless possibilities right inside your own mind! So go forth, let your imagination soar, and get creative!篇3How to Be More Creative and Use Your ImaginationHi there! My name is Emma and I'm going to tell you all about getting creative and using your imagination. Being imaginative and creative is super important and can make life way more fun and interesting. It helps you come up with new ideas, solve tricky problems, and just enjoy yourself more. The awesome thing is that you can get better at creativity and imagination with practice. It's like a muscle you can exercise and build up over time. I'm going to share some of my favoritetips and activities that have really helped me let my creativity loose. Are you ready? Let's go!One of the best ways to spark your imagination is by reading all kinds of books. When you read stories, you have to picture what's happening in your mind. The more you read, the more your brain gets used to imaging different worlds, characters, and situations. It's like a workout for your creativity! I especially love books with lots of descriptions that make me really visualize the scenes.Another thing that's helped me a ton is observing the world around me. I try to notice all the little details when I'm out and about - the different shapes and colors, how things move, the smells in the air, you name it. Then I let my mind wander and imagine how I could change or combine those things in new ways. Sometimes I get awesome ideas just from daydreaming about the clouds or watching leaves blowing in the wind.Making art is another amazing outlet for creativity. I love drawing, painting, sculpting with clay or play-dough, and doing crafts. It doesn't matter if you're not the best artist ever - expressing yourself through colors, textures, and shapes gets your creative juices flowing like crazy. If you're stuck, you couldmake up silly characters, dream up fantasy worlds, or use objects in unexpected ways when creating art.Playing make-believe is essential for kids to develop creativity and imagination too. When you pretend to be someone or something else, you have to really use your mind to bring that character or situation to life. My friends and I have so much fun acting out adventures, creating our own stories, or putting on little shows. Don't be afraid to be goofy andover-the-top - that's when imagination peaks!Games like charades are awesome imagination boosters as well. You have to get really creative in how you act things out without using words. It makes your brain work in a different way than usual to communicate those ideas. Building things with blocks or Legos gets your creativity going too by challenging you to visualize and then construct your ideas physically.Using your senses in new ways can also spark imagination and creativity. For example, you could close your eyes and try to identify objects just by feeling them, or listen closely to outdoor noises and imagine stories about what might be making those sounds. Sometimes I'll pick an object and list as many unexpected uses for it as I can think of. Shifting how you experience the world opens up all kinds of creative possibilities. Most importantly, don't be afraid to have silly, wacky ideas and not make sense some of the time. That's where the best creativity comes from! Our imaginations can take us to the most wonderfully bizarre places if we let them run free. It's totally okay if your ideas seem a little crazy at first - you can always rein them in and make them more practical later if needed. The more you practice using your imagination and being creative, the better you'll get at it. Start paying closer attention to the world around you, read lots of books, make art and games part of your routine, and just have fun daydreaming and pretending. Who knows what amazing creations and ideas you might come up with?Remember, everyone has the ability to be creative and imaginative in their own unique ways. It's an incredibly valuable skill that will help you in so many areas of life. So keep exercising that creativity muscle and letting your fantastic imagination soar!。
