Comparison between Domestication and Foreignization
• Advantages of Domestication:
• (1) 不会将源语文化的体系强加给目的语读 者；

归化：人类文化具有共同的范畴，因此，两种语言 在表达上出现意象相同的内容，有的意象不同，意 义基本一致，翻译时用译入语的文化意象来取代原 文里的文化意象，或用译入语现有的词汇来翻译。 特点：归化翻译采取民族中心主义的态度，使外语 文本夫和义务语言的文化价值，把原作者带入译入 语文化。 Venuti, Lawrence. 2019. The translator’s Invisibility. London: Routledge.

按韦努蒂（Venuti）的说法，归化法是“把原作者带入译入语文化”，
共性而发展。要求译者向作者靠拢，采取相应于作者使用的原语表达 方式，来传达原文的内容。

1813年施莱尔马赫在《论翻译的方法》一文中指出，对于具有文化内涵
的地方，翻译的途径一般有两种，“一种是尽可能让作者安居不动，而 引导读者去接近作者;另一种是尽可能让读者安居不动，而引导作者去接 近读者。” 异化和归化是在1995年由美国翻译理论家劳伦斯·韦努蒂（Lawrence Venuti）在《译者的隐形》（The Translator‘s Invisibility）一书 中提出来的。 美国翻译理论家劳伦斯·韦努蒂(Lawrence Venuti)将前者概括为 foreignizing translation(异化)，后者为domesticating translation(归化)。

• 两种语系不同的语言不可能在语序、句 式和句子配列上完全契合。在通常情况 下，双语的契合式转换是宏观的、扩展 形的、相对的。这就是我们说得直译。

翻译的 “归化”和“异化”

在翻译界，翻译理论众多，各派观点不一，可谓是“百花齐放， 百家争鸣”。除了 “直译”和“意译”之争外，还有“归化”和 “异化”之争。我国著名的翻译家杨绛先生曾经形象地比喻说， 译者所从事的工作，是“一仆二主”的事情，即译者这个“仆人” 不仅要忠实于原著 这个“主人”，还要忠实于读者 这个“主 人”。 这就要求译者在翻译的时候，心中既要想着原作及原作作者，尽 可能的把原文的内容和风格准确而生动的表达出来；同时，译者 还要想着译文的读者，翻译出来的东西要尽可能接近读者，便于 读者理解和接受。但是，要完全做到这两个方面却不容易。有时， 由于各种因素，译者不得不“背叛” 自己的一个“主人”，于是 就出现了“归化”或“异化”的现象。
请用“异化”的翻译方法翻译下面的句子。

• 词汇的意译 有些词汇在一定的句子中具有一定的含义, 如果直译就会曲解原意, 因此必须采用意译 来处理。

我国近代翻译西学的活动中,我们不难发现:与注重保留原 文的语言文化特色的“异化派”相比,注重适应目标语的 语言文化规范的“归化派”一直占有明显的优势。
Dynamic equivalence and formal equivalence are two approaches to translation. Dynamic equivalence (also known as functional equivalence) attempts to convey the thought expressed in a source text (if necessary, at the expense of literalness, original word order, the source text's grammatical voice, etc.). Formal equivalence attempts to render the text word-for-word (if necessary, at the expense of natural expression in the target language). The two approaches represent emphasis, respectively, on readability and on literal fidelity to the source text. There is no sharp boundary between dyna.mic and formal equivalence.
近百年来我国出现的一些翻译大家,从晚清时期的严复、 林纾,到上个世纪三四十年代的朱生豪、吕叔湘、张谷若, 一直到建国后的杨必等人,个个都是“归化派”的代表。
而在“异化派”的代表译家中,鲁迅应该是最具代表性的 一位,虽然他是中国新文化运动的旗手,但其译作因为过于 拘泥于原作,故而远不像其创作. 那样广受欢迎。

现当代翻译
新中国成立后到文革前，茅盾、傅雷（不在形似，而在神似）、钱钟书（化 境），我国建国后的文学翻译家大多以“艺术创造性的翻译”为目标，追 求“神似”，向往“化境”，力求使自己的译文读起来不像译作，但异化 的翻译策略始终未受到重视。
20世纪最后二十年，翻译研究得到迅速恢复和发展。《外国语》，《外语 界》，《中国翻译》，《翻译通讯》等学刊相继创办，“翻译学”的概念 也被提出。翻译理论建设也迅速发展起来。1987年，刘英凯在《现代外语》 上发表的《归化———翻译的歧路》一文，文中尖ቤተ መጻሕፍቲ ባይዱ地批评了归化译法， 认为这是“翻译的歧路”，并大力倡导移植法，让其在翻译中占有“主导 地位”。从此，国内关于归化和异化策略孰优孰劣的争辩一直没有停止过。
