二.旅游英语翻译中存在的问题(一)文化差异造成的问题旅游和文化是分不开的,一个景点的风景和它的文化气息具有千丝万缕的关系。
不到位的翻译会使一种文化的味道大打折扣,有一个很好的例子可以说明。
我们都知道东北有一种将韭菜夹在面饼中间的小吃“韭菜合子”,在当地它有合家团圆的意思,很多外国游客对这种小吃非常喜欢。
但是该怎样用英语将它翻译出来呢,有的旅游翻译人员将“韭菜合子”翻译成“chive box”,而我们都知道,“chive”是细香葱的意思,“box”是“盒子”的意思,这样翻译外国游客自然不会领会到合家团圆的文化意思了[2]。

这样的例子数不胜数。
在河南的好多景区都设有游客中心,但是很多“游客中心”的大牌子上,赫然写着“VISITORCENTER”,这本应是两个单词构成的词组,两者之间需要有一个空格,但是标示语上没有体现出来就会造成表意不明。

(一)单词拼写错误单词拼写错误是一个很普遍的问题,许多景区的公共标示语都出现有各种类型的单词拼写方面的错误,主要有漏写字母,不分大小写,相似字母混淆,几个单词堆砌等。
单词拼写错误有可能是由翻译者的水平有限,也有可能是制作人在制作过程当中漏掉了等等,这很容易给外国游客带来困惑,使他们不能很好地理解原意。
这样的例子数不胜数。
在河南的好多景区都设有游客中心,但是很多“游客中心”的大牌子上,赫然写着“VISITORCENTER”,这本应是两个单词构成的词组,两者之间需要有一个空格,但是标示语上没有体现出来就会造成表意不明。
