Experts think that your personality can even affect how you exercise and influence what sports are suitable for you.Highly SensitiveHighly sensitive people may be more uncomfortable with group exercise classes or team sports where they feel their every move is being observed. Additionally, they may feel more upset over an ineffective or poor workout, says researcher Elaine Aron. For such people, individual or non-competitive activities like biking, running and hiking are ideal.Type A PersonalityType A individuals often have an “all or nothing approach” to exercise. This personality type is known for sticking closely to their plan, not to mention being super competitive. However, this can cause them to stick too closely to a fitness routine, which means they might try to push past an injury. To get better exercise results, Type A people need to be aware that following an exercise plan too strictly may limit their progress. They should be more flexible and listen to their body, especially when they are in pain.Type B PersonalityThis laid-back group may get too lazy about their exercise plan, which prevents them from seeing results. They are often less willing to devote enough time and energy to their fitness goals, especially if exercise is something that makes them anxious.Type B individuals succeed in creative and co-operative environments, so team sports and group gym classes may be perfect.Remember, there are plenty of ways you can adapt a fitness plan to suit your needs, regardless of your characteristics. Just keep in mind what you like.65.Why might highly sensitive people be unwilling to take part in group sports?A.They will feel like they are being evaluated.B.They don't like socializing with other people.C.They don't consider themselves to be athletic.D.They fear they'll be let down by their teammates.66.Type A personalities can be best described as_________.A.committed.B.flexible.C.independent.D.sensitive.67.What is the purpose of the text?A.To help people understand what personality type they are.B.To explain how personal characteristics affect exercise habits.C.To identify the dangers of doing the wrong type of exercise.D.To describe different types of workouts that are available today. If it were up to me, I’d write this piece next week or even later. Let the dust settle a bit. But I have my father’s insistent voice in my head: the story is now, so you write it now. No one wants to read last week’s news.My father Michael was a journalist. He started at age 16 on his local paper, the Luton News, and after nine years there, he went on to a six-decade career that saw him write more than 40 biographies of Hollywood stars and spend a quarter-century presenting a weekly radio show. From him I learned about deadlines and accuracy, and absorbed his rule about professional clothing, one he had been taught by his first boss. Even when he was working at home, my father would follow that rule:shirt and tie, every day. There were other less obviou s lessons. The first is about being manly. Driven and competitive, he wasn’t present for the birth of any of his three children, but he was the very model of being loving and faithful. My father never took me to the football or taught me to change a tyre. In a pub, he might manage some drinks, but his main focus would usually be the food menu. He was a model of a different kind of maleness. But perhaps the biggest lesson I learned from him was about resilience (恢复). He got deep blows, losing both his wife and firstborn child, my sister Fiona, within two years of each other. And yet, somehow, he got back up again. He taught himself to cook and continued to dress neatly, picking out a bright jacket that ensured he stood out in a room. He would meet editors and write stories with the same hunger he had 65 years earlier. Younger colleagues keep using the same word about him: appealing.I hope I learned his resilience, the way I learned about being a journalist. People keep telling me that my father was proud of me; and the truth is I was proud of him. Raised in a hard-up corner of wartime England, he went off to see the world—and he never stopped looking forward and upward, staring at the stars. 68.What has made the author write down the text so soon?A.His father’s words motivated him to do so.B.He wanted to settle down after the writing.C.He wanted to write it before he forgot it.D.It was the story he insisted on writing.69.What was the author’s impression of his father?A.He always managed to dress up following the fashion.B.He sometimes had a hard time meeting the work deadline.C.He trained the author to be manly and do the basic things.D.He was competitive at work and remained a loving Dad.70.What was the best lesson the author learned from his father?A.The necessity of keeping good shape.B.Quick recovery from suffering or blow.C.The ability to get a content career.D.The pride one takes in his/her parents.71.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.Dad Left a Deep Impression on Me for His WorkB.Dad Proved Faithful and Loving for the FamilyC.My Dad Showed How to Be a Journalist and a Man D.I Learned to Recover Quickly after a SufferingHere’s an idea whose time has come: A flu shot that doesn’t require an actual shot. For the first time, researchers have tested a flu vaccine patch (疫苗贴) in a human clinical trial and found that it delivered as much protection as a traditional injection with a needle. Doctors and public health experts have high hopes that it will increase the number of people who get immunized (免疫的) against the flu.Seasonal flu is responsible for up to half a million deaths around the world each year according to the World Health Organization. A team led by Georgia Tech engineer Mark Prausnitz has come up with another method t hat uses “microneedles”. These tiny needles are so small that 100 of them, arranged in order on a patch, can fit under your thumb.Yet they’re big enough to hold vaccine for three types of flu.None of the study volunteers had serious side effects. The groups that got patches had mild skin reactions that were not seen in the regular needle group, while the volunteers in the regular needle group were more likely to experience pain. Overall, 70 percent of the volunteers who got vaccine patches said they’d rather use them again than get a traditional flu shot. The study authors declared it a success on all fronts. The biggest beneficiaries could be people in low- and middle-income countries, where flu vaccines are hard to come by. Reducing pain is nice, but other benefits—the patch costs less,is easier to transport, doesn’t require refrigeration, can be self-administered and doesn’t cause waste of needles-are even better.“Microneedle Patches have the potential to become ideal candidates for vaccination programs,” wrote Katja Hoschler and Maria Zambon of Public Health England.72.What is the passage mainly about?A.A vaccine patch that cures people of their flu.B.A clinical study that protects people from disease.C.A patch that makes flu shots a thing of the past.D.A method that makes traditional flu shots painless.73.What do we know about the vaccine patch?A.It is produced by the WHO.B.It causes slight side effects.C.It delivers vaccine to the little finger.D.It works badly on 30% of the volunteers.74.The new patch has all the following benefits except that ________.A.it is provided free of chargeB.it can be used without a doctorC.it can he kept at room temperatureD.it needs less care in transportation75.What is Kaija and Maria’s attitude towards t he new shot?A.Cautious.B.Favorable.C.Ambiguous.D.Disapproving.For high school leavers starting out in the working world, it is very important to learn particular skills and practise how to behave in an interview or how to find all internship(实习). In some countries, schools have programs to help students onto the path to work. In the United States, however, such programs are still few and far between.Research shows that if high schools provide career-related courses, students are likely to get higher earnings in later years. The students are more likely to stay in school, graduate and go on to higher education. In Germany, students as young as 13 and 14 are expected to do internships. German companies work with schools to make sure that young people get the education they need for future employment. But in America, education reform programs focus on how well students do in exams instead of bringing them into contact with the working world. Harvard Education school professor Robert Schwartz has criticized education reformers for trying to place all graduates directly on the four-year college track. Schwartz argued that this approach leaves the country’s most vulnerable(易受影响的) kids with no jobs and no skills.Schwartz believed that the best career programs encourage kids to go for higher education while also teaching them valuable practical skills at high school. James Madison High School in New York, for example, encourages students to choose classes on career-based courses. The school then helps them gain on-the-job experience in those fields while they’re still at high school. However, even for teens whose schools encourage them to connect with work, the job market is daunting. In the US,unemployment rates for 16-to-l9-year-olds are above 20 percent for the third summer in a row.“The risk is that if teenagers miss out on the summer job experience, they become part of this generation of teens who had trouble in landing a job,” said Michael, a researcher in the US.76.In the author’s opinion, American h igh school leavers _______.A.have enough career-related coursesB.need more career advice from their schools C.perform better in exams than German studentsD.can get higher earnings in later years77.According to Robert Schwartz, ________.A.there is no need for kids to go for higher education in the USB.students should get contact with the working world at high school C.education reform should focus on students’ performance in exams D.teenagers in the US can’t miss out on the summer job experience78.What can be inferred from the text?A.Unemployment rates for US teenagers remain high at the moment. B.Students with career-based courses never have problems finding a job.C.US companies work with schools to prepare young people for future employment. D.High school leavers with no practical skills can’t find a job absolutely.79.The underlined word “daunting” in Paragraph 6 most probably means _______. AEach morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table, reading his book. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to copy him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, “Grandpa, I try to read the book just like you, but I don’t understand it, and I forget what I understand as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the book do?”The grandpa quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, “Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.”The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandpa laughed and said, “You’ll have to move a little faster next time,” and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned. Out of breath, he told his grandpa that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, so he went to get a bucket instead. The grandpa said, “I don’t want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You’re just not trying hard enough.”The boy again dipped the basket into the river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandpa the basket was empty again. Out of breath, he said, “Grandpa, it’s useless!”“So, you think it is useless?” the grandpa said, “Look at the basket.”The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean.“Grandson, that’s what happens when you read the book. Baskets and booksD. Reading for total changingBIt was Sunday morning. I heard loud noises of moving furniture in the next room. I could almost feel the excitement of John who was soon going to get a room of his own. I knew how much he longed for his right to privacy when he was sharing a room with his younger brother, Robot. He said, “Mum, Can I have a room of my own? I could use Jeff’s. He won’t mind.”It was true that Jeff had graduated from college and flown from the nest. But would he mind? The room was theplace where I told him a thousand stories and we had a thousand talks. As close as we were, though, the time came when Jeff needed a door between us. His life was spreading into areas that had less to do with family. I no longer could-or-should know everything about him.It turned out that getting Jeff’s permission was easy. He said, “Of course, Mum, it would be selfish of me to hold on to it.” Then his voice softened, “Mum, I won’t be living at home again —you know that.” Behind his glasses, his eyes were lit with all the love. There were no doors closed here — they had all opened up again. As John and I were cleaning the room, I fixed my eyes on Jeff’s things around me and c ould almost touch the little boy I knew was gone forever. I looked at the room and, in my heart, I let it go. To hold on would be, as Jeff said, selfish. Now it was time for John, shouldering through the door, his eyes bright with promise of independence, to disappear behind the door. It was time for letting go to happen again.5. The underlined sentence in the second paragraph probably means “______”.A. Jeff needed his right to privacyB. Jeff finally flew out of the houseC. Jeff got tired of those familiar storiesD. Jeff would have less to do with his family6. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. John was moving to live with his brother.B. John was eager to get a room of his own.C. But it is not a distant childhood memory. The words come back to you as clearly as when you sang them all those years ago.Researchers at the University of Edinburgh studied the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language. They found that remembering words in a song was the best way to remember even one of the most difficult languages. Here is what they did. Researchers took 60 adults and randomly divided them into three groups of 20. Then they gave the groups three different types of “listen-and-repeat” learning conditions. Researchers had one group simply speak the words. They had the second group speak the words to a rhythm, or beat. And they asked the third group to sing the words. All three groups studied words from the Hungarian language for 15 minutes. Then they took part in a series of language tests to see what they remembered. Why Hungarian, you ask? Researchers said they chose Hungarian because not many people know the language. It does not share any roots with Germanic or Romance languages, such as Italian or Spanish. After the tests were over, the singers came out on top. The people who learned these new Hungarian words by singing them showed a higher overall performance. They did the best in four out of five of the tests. They also performed two times better than those who simply learned the words by speaking them.Dr. Katie Overy says singing could lead to new ways to learn a foreign language. The brain likes to rememberthings when they are contained in a catchy 3, or memorable 4, tune 5.Dr. Ludke said the findings could help those who struggle to learn foreign languages. On the University of Edinburgh’s website Dr. Ludke writes, “This study provides the first experimental evidence that a listen-and-repeat singing method can support foreign language learning, and opens the door for future research in this area.”9. For her, one thing she can’t put up with is people standing on the wrong side of the escalator(自动扶梯) in subway stations. “Escalators help us move faster and save time. It isn’t a place to rest,” the 24-year-old says. “I often see tourists block the way with their suitcases or chatting on the escalators during rush hours. It annoys me to no end.”Admitting she is not the patient type, Zhao says things are much better in Hong Kong than in cities on the mainland where “stand right, walk left” signs are often ignored. The logic behind the “stand right, walk left” escalator etiquette(礼仪) seems obvious. Even though you may want to catch your breath while you’re transported up or down, you should still consider others and leave enough space for people in a hurry, so that they can run and catch the train. Many cities’ escalators, including London’s and Beijing’s, use the “stand right, walk left” system to speed up the flow of people. (Australia is an exception and you should stand on the left side instead.) But some cities discourage people from moving on escalators out of safety re asons. In Hong Kong’s subway stations there are regular announcements asking people to “stand still” on escalators. Even so, most people in this fast-paced city observe the “stand right, walk left” etiquette. But the people who stand on escalators defend themselves by telling the walkers not to be so impatient. The BBC quotes one stander as saying: “If the person is in such a rush, why not just take the stairs? Even when the escalator is packed and there’s nowhere to move, I see these same people complaining about not being able to pass.”Whatever the escalator etiquette is in the place you live or visit, do what most people are doing and always be mindful of others: leave enough space between each other, don’t stay at the end of the escalator, and if someone is blocking your way, a simple “excuse me” is enough.13. In the second paragraph, the underlined word “It” refers to_____.A. the author’s living in the big city of Hong Kong.B. being crowded on the subway trains in rush hours.C. people’s block ing the way or chat on the escalators.D. people’s standing on the right side resting.14. When on the escalator, a majority of local people in Hong Kong_____.A. stand still as the railway stations require.B. ignore the “ stand right, walk left” signsC. use the stairs instead of escalators.D. follow the “stand right, walk left” etiquette.15. Which of the following statements is the writer’s opinion?A. People should stand right no matter where they are.B. People should do as the Romans do and consider others.C. People should do as they like on the escalators.D. People should be seriously criticized when they block the way.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

ALast year my summer holiday was spoiled by my bringing along a modern convenience that was too convenient for my own good: the iPad. Instead of looking at nature, I checked my e-mail. Instead of paddling a small boat, I followed my Twitter feed(推特简讯). Instead of reading great novels, I stuck to reading four newspapers each morning. I was behaving as if I were still in the offi ce. My body was on vacation, but my head wasn’t.So this year I made up my mind to try something different: withdrawal from the Internet. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, since I’m bad at self-control. But I was determined. I started by giving the iPad to my wife. The cellphone signal at our house was worse than in the past, making my attempts at cheating an experience in frustration . I was trapped, forced to go through with my plan. Largely breaking away from e-mail, Twitter and my favorite newspaper websites, I had few ways to connect to the world except for the radio—and how much radio can one listen to, really? I had to do what I had planned to do all along: read books. This experience has had a happy ending. With determination and the strong support of my wife, I won in my vacation struggle against the Internet, realizing finally that it was I, not the iPad, that was the problem. I knew I had won when we passed a Starbucks and my wife asked if I wanted to stop to use the Wi-Fi. “I don’t need it,” I said. However, as we return to post-vacation life, a harder test begins: Can I continue when I’m back at work? There are times when the need to know what’s being said right now is great. I have no intention of giving up my convenience completely. But I hope to resist the temptation to check my e-mail every five minutes, which leads to checking my Twitter feed and a website or two.I think a vacation is supposed to help you rest your brain to become more productive. There has been 40 years of sex ual equality, but there is another 40 years probably to come.”Women, who a generation ago spent nearly two hours a day cooking, now spend just one hour and seven minutes—a great fall, but they still spend far more time in the kitchen than men. Some expert s have named these men in aprons as “Gastrosexuals (men using cooking skills to impress friends)”, who have been inspired to pick up a kitchen knife by the success of Ramsay, Oliver as well as other male celebrity chefs such as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Marco Pierre White and Keith Floyd.“I was married in 1974. When my father came to visit me a few weeks later, I was wearing an apron when I opened the door. Prof. Gershuny pointed out that the family meal was now rarely eaten by all of its members around a table—with many “family meals” in fact taken on the sofa in the sitting room, and shared by family members. “The family meal has changed a lot, and few of us eat—as I did when I was a child—at least two meals a day together asa family. But it has survived in a different format.”8. What is one reason behind the trend that men spend more time cooking than before?A. The development of sexual equality campaign.B. Cooking into a New Trend for Men.DSome years ago, writing in my diary used to be a usual activity. I would return from school and spend the expected half hour recording the day's events, feelings, and impressions in my little blue diary. I did not really need to express my emotions by way of words, but I gained a certain satisfaction from seeing my experiences forever recorded on paper. After all, isn't accumulating memories a way of preserving the past? When I was thirteen years old, I went on a long journey on foot in a great valley, well equipped with pens, a diary, and a camera. During the trip, I was busy recording every incident, name and place I came across. I felt proud to be spending my time productively, dutifully preserving for future generations a detailed description of my travels. On my last night there, I wandered out of my tent, diary in hand. The sky was clear and lit by the glare of the moon, and the walls of the valley looked threatening behind their screen of shadows. I automatically took out my pen...At that point, I understood that nothing I wrote could ever match or replace the few seconds I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley. All I remembered of the previous few days were the dull characterizations I had set down in my diary. Now, I only write in my diary when I need to write down a special thought or feeling. I still love to record ideas and quotations that strike me in books, or observations that are particularly meaningful. I take pictures, but not very often only of objects I find really beautiful. I'm no longer blindly satisfied with having something to remember when I grow old. I realize that life will simply pass me by if I stay behind the camera, busy preserving the present so as to live it in the future.I don't want to wake up one day and have nothing but a pile of pictures and notes. Maybe I won't have as many exact representations of people and places; maybe I'll forget certain facts, but at least the experiences will always remain inside me. I don't live to make memories--I just live, and the memories form themselves.12. Before the age of thirteen, the author regarded keeping a diary as a way of ________.A. observing her school routineB. expressing her satisfactionC. impressing her classmatesD. preserving her history13. What caused a change in the author's understanding of keeping a diary?A. A dull night on the journey.B. The beauty of the great valley.C. A striking quotation from a book.D. Her concerns for future generations.14. What does the author put in her diary now?A. Notes and beautiful pictures.B. Special thoughts and feelings.C. Detailed accounts of daily activities.D. Descriptions of unforgettable events.15. The author comes to realize that to live a meaningful life is ________.A. to experience itB. to live the present in the futureC. to make memoriesD. to give accurate representations of it第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

Here are some Chinatowns for those outside of China wishing to mark the day.LondonAlthough it may not be as large or as long-built as others, having only become a center for the Chinese community during the 1950s, London’s Chinatown is a perfectly formed little firework that knows how to see in the year with a bang. Even when her daughter and son asked her to move to San Antonio to help their children, she politely refused . Only after a year of friendly discussion did Ms Garza finally say yes. That was four years ago. Today all three generations regard the move as a success, giving them a closer relationship than they would have had in separate cities. No statistics show the number of grandparents like Garza who are moving closer to the childrenand grandchildren. Yet there is evidence suggesting that the trend is growing. Even President Obama’s mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, has agreed to leave Chicago and into the White House to help care for her granddaughters. According to a study, , 83 percent of the people said Mrs. Robinson ’s decision will influence the grandparents in the American family. The company has sold 3.27 million iPads since they entered the market in April. Although it’s impossible to know with certai nty how many seniors (老年人) are buying them, evidence suggests that it’s a hit with seniors. The iPad’s intuitive interface (直观界面) makes it attractive to seniors around the world, says Takahiro Miura, a researcher at the University of Tokyou. “The iPad is a good tool for seniors because it’s very easy to use,” he says. “Unlike the PC, it doesn’t require former knowledge.”James Cordwell, a researcher in London, says the iPad’s popularity with seniors is helping Apple reach beyond its traditional base of young customers. “The world’s population, especially in developed markets, is getting older. It’s probably a market where Apple has least entered, ” Cordwell says. Senior users are “a key source of growth for them in the future.”Seniors make up about 22 percent of the population in Japan. They may prove that seniors are willing to accept the iPad. Besides the customer group under 30, they spend more than any other group in the country, according to a report. Coaches pass out ribbons to every participant. Scholar publishes a series called “I’m Special!”assuring readers that the ability to play with friends and sing songs makes them special indeed. We’ve been told that high self-esteem is the key to children’s happiness and success, and we’ve been praising and protecting them ever since. But has the self-esteem movement gone too far? Many experts argue that instead of raising healthy high achievers, maybe we’re raising a generation of narcissists(自我陶醉者). “Our old concepts of self-esteem(自尊) are old-fashioned, and parents need to send the concept to the tr ash heap of all things outdated and useless,” says Aaron Cooper, co-author of I Just Want My Kids to be Happy. While experts used to blame low self-esteem for everything from bad grades to criminal behavior, research has shown that inflated(膨胀的)self-esteem is more often the criminal. An article called “Rethinking Self-Esteem” by Roy made a stir when he supposed that criminals and drug abusers actually had higher self-esteem than the general population. Martin and Ervin found that the modern habit of constant praise was turning kids skeptical and unmotivated. And esteemed child development expert T. Barry recently wrote in The New York Times that the phrase “self-esteem” had lost its meaning. Parents just want their children to have a positive self-image. And while it’s easy to make fun of the extremes of the self-esteem movement, it’s difficult to walk the fine line between acquiring self-respect and self-centeredness. Anyway, make it clear that while you haveexpectations for their behavior, you love and accept them unconditionally. True self-esteem isn’t about a steady stream of applause; it develops when children know their limits and responsibilities are given enough opportunities to challenge themselves, and feel secure that they’re loved even when they fail.12. What’s the purpose of using phrases like “good sharing!” and “great job on the slider”?A. To attract readers’ attention.B. To introduce the topic.C. To give the author’s opinion.D. To tell readers the key to happiness and success.13. According to the text, which of the following statements is true?A. Children with high esteem are likely to be high achievers.B. In children’s development high self-esteem plays a positive role.C. High self-esteem makes kids motivated nowadays.D. High self-esteem does harm to kids in a way.14. The proper way to develop children’s true self-esteem is to .A. give them constant praise unconditionally.B. let them shoulder all their responsibilities.C. offer them support even though they fail.D. have high expectations for their behavior.15. Just keep in mind what you like.65.Why might highly sensitive people be unwilling to take part in group sports? A.They will feel like they are being evaluated.B.They don't like socializing with other people.C.They don't consider themselves to be athletic.D.They fear they'll be let down by their teammates.66.Type A personalities can be best described as_________.A.committed. B.flexible.C.independent. D.sensitive.67.What is the purpose of the text?A.To help people understand what personality type they are.B.To explain how personal characteristics affect exercise habits.C.To identify the dangers of doing the wrong type of exercise.D.To describe different types of workouts that are available today. Even when he was working at home, my father would follow that rule: shirt and tie, every day. There were other less obvious lessons. Raised in a hard-up corner of wartime England, he went off to see the world—and he never stopped looking forward and upward, staring at the stars.68.What has made the author write down the text so soon?A.His fathe r’s words motivated him to do so.B.He wanted to settle down after the writing.C.He wanted to write it before he forgot it.D.It was the story he insisted on writing.69.What was the author’s impression of his father?A.He always managed to dress up following the fashion.B.He sometimes had a hard time meeting the work deadline.C.He trained the author to be manly and do the basic things.D.He was competitive at work and remained a loving Dad.70.What was the best lesson the author learned from his father?A.The necessity of keeping good shape.B.Quick recovery from suffering or blow.C.The ability to get a content career.D.The pride one takes in his/her parents.71.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.Dad Left a Deep Impression on Me for His WorkB.Dad Proved Faithful and Loving for the FamilyC.My Dad Showed How to Be a Journalist and a ManD.I Learned to Recover Quickly after a SufferingHere’s an idea whose time has come: A flu shot that doesn’t require an actual shot. For the first time, researchers have tested a flu vaccine patch (疫苗贴) in a human clinical trial and found that it delivered as much protection as a traditional injectionwith a needle. Doctors and public health experts have high hopes that it will increase the number of people who get immunized (免疫的) against the flu.Seasonal flu is responsible for up to half a million deaths around the world each year according to the World Health Organization. A team led by Georgia Tech engineer Mark Prausnitz has come up with another method that uses “microneedles”. Overall, 70 percent of the volunteers who got vaccine patches said they’d rat her use them again than get a traditional flu shot. The study authors declared it a success on all fronts. The biggest beneficiaries could be people in low- and middle-income countries, where flu vaccines are hard to come by. Reducing pain is nice, but other benefits—the patch costs less,is easier to transport, doesn’t require refrigeration, can be self-administered and doesn’t cause waste of needles-are even better.“Microneedle Patches have the potential to become ideal candidates for vaccination programs,” wrote Katja Hoschler and Maria Zambon of Public Health England.72.What is the passage mainly about?A.A vaccine patch that cures people of their flu.B.A clinical study that protects people from disease.C.A patch that makes flu shots a thing of the past.D.A method that makes traditional flu shots painless.73.What do we know about the vaccine patch?A.It is produced by the WHO.B.It causes slight side effects.C.It delivers vaccine to the little finger.D.It works badly on 30% of the volunteers.74.The new patch has all the following benefits except that ________.A.it is provided free of chargeB.it can be used without a doctorC.it can he kept at room temperature D.it needs less care in transportation75.What is Kaija and Maria’s attitude towards the new shot?A.Cautious. B.Favorable.C.Ambiguous. D.Disapproving.For high school leavers starting out in the working world, it is very important to learn particular skills and practise how to behave in an interview or how to find all internship(实习). In the US,unemployment rates for 16-to-l9-year-olds are above 20 percent for the third summer in a row.“The risk is that if teenagers miss out on the summer job experience, they become part of this generation of teens who had trouble in landing a job,” said Michael, a researcher in the US.76.In the author’s opinion, American high school leavers _______.A.have enough career-related coursesB.need more career advice from their schoolsC.perform better in exams than German studentsD.can get higher earnings in later years77.According to Robert Schwartz, ________.A.there is no need for kids to go for higher education in the USB.students should get contact with the working world at high school C.education reform should focus on students’ performance in examsD.teenagers in the US can’t miss out on the summer job experience78.What can be inferred from the text?A.Unemployment rates for US teenagers remain high at the moment.B.Students with career-based courses never have problems finding a job.C.US companies work with schools to prepare young people for future employment. D.High school leavers with no practical skills can’t find a job absolutely. 79.The underlined word “daunting” in Paragraph 6 most probably means _______.
