★重点语法： 情态动词与虚拟语气（二）
一、虚拟语气在非真实条件句中：
虚拟条件句 主句
与现在事实相反 If+主语+ did（be-were） 主语+ should/would/could/might +do
与过去事实相反 If+主语+ had done 主语+ should/would/could/might + have done
与将来事实相反 If+主语+ did（be-were）
If+主语+were to + do
If+主语+ should + do
主语+ should/would/could/might +do
If I were you, I should seize the chance.
If you had taken my advice, you would not have failed in the exam.
If he should not come tomorrow, we should put off the meeting till next Monday.
♠注意：
1. 当从句表示的行为与主句表示的行为发生时间不一致时，称为“错综时间条件句”，动词的形式要根 据所表示的时间做出相应的调整。
If you had followed my advice just now, you would be better now.
2. 从句中if可以省略，但要把were, had, should提到句首，变为倒装句式。
If I were at school again, I would study harder.
→Were I at school again, I would study harder.
3. 用介词短语代替条件状语从句：常用的介词有with, without, but for。
What would you do with a million dollars? (=if you had a million dollars)
4. 含蓄条件句
I was ill that day. Otherwise, I would have taken part in the sports meeting.
He telephoned to inform me of your birthday, or I would have known nothing about it.
A man who stopped drinking water would be dead in about seven days.
二、虚拟语气在名词性从句中：
1. 用于宾语从句
●wish后面的宾语从句一般用虚拟语气，表示不可能实现的愿望。
I wish that I were a bird and could fly freely in the sky.
I wish that I had met the famous writer yesterday.
●If only +句子 = How I wish that…
If only I had seen the film! = How I wish I had seen the film!
●would rather 后的宾语从句中：
I would rather they didn’t hear of the news.
I would rather they hadn’t heard of the news. (从句动作先发生)
●表示“建议、要求、命令”（如suggest, propose, advise, demand, require, insist,
order）等词后的宾 语从句中，用虚拟语气，其结构为should+动词原形，should可以省略：
He suggested that we (should) start off early the next day.
注意：当suggest意为“暗示、表明”；insist意为“坚持说、力言”时，其后的宾语从句不用虚拟 语气：
The smile on his face suggested that he was satisfied with our work.
The man insisted that he had never stolen the money.
2. 用于主语从句：
It is suggested/ proposed… that (should + do)，should可以省略
It is suggested that the meeting (should) be put off till next week. 3. 用于表语从句和同位语从句中：
suggestion, proposal, order, request, advice等名词后的表语从句和同位语从句要用虚拟语气，其构成是 should + do , should可省略。
My request is that you (should) think it over before accepting it.
We all agreed to his suggestion that we (should) go to Dalian for sightseeing.
三、虚拟语气用在其他句型中:
1. as if/ as though
He looks as if he were an artist. （同时）
She speaks English as if she had studied English in America. （先于）
He learns English so hard as if he would go to the USA. （后于）
2. It is (high) time (that)… 从句中可用过去式或should+动词原形（should不能省略），意为“该到做 某事的时候了”。
It is high time that you went to school.
It is high time that you should go to school.
