Unit 8 Why don’t you get her a scarf?

一、 单元分析
本单元围绕“Giving gift”开展听、说、读、写等一系列教学活动,主要是学习如何给别人买礼物及各种句型建议别人买礼物。
本单元的核心语言项目是“Compare qualities”. SectionB 对不同宠物的观点,围绕着should 和 how about 等表示提建议的句式,逐步扩展。SectionB 边循环SectionA 中出现的语言目标,边介绍新词汇。然后,设计了两个听力活动,分别从两个层面,宏观到细节,帮助学生学习如何比较不同的动物。
具体而言:1a是词汇的拓展,引入宠物的词汇。1b对宠物进行相关描述,为后面的活动奠定基础。2a-2c围绕对不同宠物的评论进行了听力、口语训练;3a是一篇有关pets的阅读材料,要求学生了解宠物的优缺点,3b要求学生能够根据一幅宠物图片进行应用写作。3c 是一个开放性的写作练习,学生描述自己喜欢宠物,也是应用训练。4设计了小组活动,要求学生讨论家里养宠物的好处和坏处,这是使用目标语言表述个人观点,体现了语言的功能性。
二、 学情分析
宠物话题,学生对此有一定的生活经验,有利于知识范围的延伸,在对话中,学生可以发散思维,表达他们已有的不同的生活经历。
三、 教学目标
1. 语言技能目标
能用英语来表达自己是否赞同养宠物,并说明原因,如:That’s too boring.
进一步巩固运用如何比较;Help Ss learn how to make comments on pets.
2. 语言知识目标
Enable Ss to learn about some pets, and to make comments on them.
3. 情感态度目标
要爱护、关心小动物, Animals are our friends,Love animals love ourselves!

学会抓住文章的重点内容,通过跳读和细读寻找所需信息,把握文章的中心思想和主要脉络,提高语言综合能力。

Dogs are too difficult to take care of.

However,life with a pig isn’t always perfect.
Now she’s too big to sleep in the house,so I made her a special pig house

Step1: Warming up and presentation
T: Good afternoon,class. What animals can you say in English?
Ss: A mouse/dog/parrot……
T: Yes. You know a lot. What is it?(Show a picture in PPT)
S1: It’s a hamster.
T: And what’s this?
S2: It’s a spider.
T: Listen to me and guess what it is : It lives in the water. And it is very beautiful.
But it is difficult to take care of.
Ss: Is it a goldfish?
T: Yes ,it is. What about a cat? Is it easy to take care of?
Ss: Yes.
T: Would you like to keep pets at home?
Ss: Yes
T: What pet do you have at home?
S1: I have a dog/parrot/hamster/silkworm(蚕宝宝)

导入新课
Step2: Practice
Show the pictures of different kinds of animals.
T: Look at all the animals here. Which of these animals would be good pets?
Which would be bad pets? Write them in the diagram. (1a)
Let Ss discuss what the most popular pet is and what the most unusual pet is. (1b)
Ask some Ss to talk about their opinions and give reasons.
Step3: Listening
Play the recording. Ask Ss to number the pets in the order. (2a)
Again. Ask them to match the pets with the comments. (2b)
Check the answers.
Step4: A task
T: I want to spend 100 yuan to buy some animal pets for a 4-year-old boy , a
16-year-old girl and an 80 –year-old woman. What do you think I should get?
And tell me your reasons.

Step 5: Reading
Ask Ss to read the article of 3a quickly and give a title of it.
Ask Ss to read it again and write down the advantages and disadvantages of
keeping such a pet in the chart below.

Step6: Homework
1. Look at these notes about hamsters and write an article about them. (3b)
2. Most children like animals. Some of them want to keep pets. But some don’t
agree, especially their parents. What do you think? Tell us why you agree or
disagree. (Oral and duty report)
