The low impedance drive capabilities offer massive headroom and allow for multiple ES-SUB-IW-DUAL8 connections. Two subwoofer output connectionssimplify wiring to multiple subwoofer locations. Built for today’s sophisticated home theater LFE signals, the EA-AMP-SUB-1D-500 protects the speaker from clipping.3REAR PANEL FEATURES1. AUDIO INPUTSa. Connect to Unbalanced Female RCA Inputs.b. Connect to the Right Female RCA input from a LFE output connection on a receiver or pre-amp processor.NOTE: If not using an LFE connection, both inputs have been calibrated to the same sensitivity level and should be connected. When connecting to a stereo pre-amp connection, use a Y-Adapter when connecting2. SETUP MODESa. BOUNDARY EQ – Select the appropriate setting based on these guidelines below.b. PHASE – Factory-set at 0°, adjustable to 180°. The phase of the subwoofer can be adjusted to fine tunethe signal coincidence of the subwoofer and the lower frequencies of your speakers. Adjust the phase, listening for an increase in mid bass in the crossover region.c. CROSS-OVER – Crossover frequency setting of the Low Pass Filter. Factory-set at 80Hz.Each EA-AMP-SUB-1D-500 has the capability to be adjusted from 40 to 160Hz.d. Boundary EQ – Removes exaggerated boomy sounds created by corner loading, large wall surfaces,or installations inside custom cabinetry. For a natural, tighter performance in less than ideal installationcircumstances where boundaries are influencing the sound desired, select the ON position to compensate. For all other installations, or for when the exaggerated boomy sound is desired, leave the boundary switch in the OFF position.3. POWER MODESa. ON – Always Onb. AUTO – On, triggered via signal sense; when signal is off, amp will stay on for approximately15 to 20 minutes.c. TRIGGERED – On, triggered by 12 VDC, 100mA minimum. IEC Power Cord5INSTALLATION – FIRST STEPSPOSITIONING YOUR EPISODE AMPLIFIEREpisode amplifiers are designed to help deliver a great audio experiencethat makes your music come alive for years to come. However, where youplace the amplifier can have a large effect on the performance that you receiveand the life of the unit. If you are not rack-mounting the amplifier, position itwith all feet resting on a solid level surface. Be sure that the amplifier is in awell-ventilated area that provides adequate cooling. If your installation lacksgood air flow, such as some solid door cabinets or wall-mounted racks, it maybe necessary to create some ventilation to air outside the cabinet or rack. VENTILATIONDo not block ventilation holes, or impede air flow by placing objects on oraround the amplifier. Do not place the amplifier on carpeting or any similarmaterial. Do not install the amplifier near a source of heat, or in anextremely humid or wet location. All connections and switching must be done with theamplifier’s power switch positioned to ‘Off’. Connect the power cord lastto be sure that the amplifier is off during all of your connections and set up.INPUTSFor line level connections, use high quality RCA cables that feature low impedance, shielding and high quality connectors. SPEAKER OUTPUTSUse 14-18 gauge stranded two-conductor loudspeaker wire for all high level connections. At each loudspeaker-level connection, ensure that at least 2 inches of each conductor are separated. Strip away 1/4 inch of insulation from each conductor. Connect the appropriate conductor to each screw terminal, observing correct polarity.RACKMOUNT INSTALLATION1. Remove the amplifier’s four feet from the bottom of the chassis.2. Attach the included rack-mount ears to the front sides of the amplifier chassis.3. Securely mount the amplifier into the 19” equipment rack. The amplifier willoccupy 1U of rack space.4. Even though the amplifier produces very little heat, it is always wise to leaveventilation between components.6REMOTE CONTROLThe remote control has the following functions: Array1. POWER - Toggles between Standby Mode and ON.2. VOL+/- – Adjusts the volume.3. MUTE – Mutes the subwoofer. Press again to unmute.4. MUSIC/MOVIE – Selects the corresponding EQ mode.OPERATIONThe EA-AMP-SUB-1D-500 can be controlled manually from the front panel or via the supplied hand-held remote. A remote IR input can also be used for systems hidden behind closed cabinet doors or in an equipment rack located in other areas of the home. On the front panel, you will find the following features:1. Master Volume Control – The master volume knob is a continuous rotary control. To adjust volume, use the gain adjustment onthe AV receiver or pre-amplifier to make minor adjustments. Use a dB meter to measure the subwoofer output to the level suited for the room and the listener.2. Music or Movie quick EQ adjustments – The Music or Movie toggle button changes the EQ to an appropriate curve for the sourcematerial. You can use the hand-held remote to change the curve between Music and Movie modes. The Music or Movie mode IR codes can be inserted into IR learning macros to change the EQ per source. LEDs placed above the Music or Movie text on the front panel indicate the EQ mode. Music mode is flat; Movie is bumped 8dB between 30Hz and 80Hz for added impact.HINTSFor single in-room subwoofer placement, room shape, size, and environment play a large role in the impact of a subwoofer’s perceived output. Due to the bass waves that pass through the room, certain areas can be perceived to sound thin and lacking bass while others sound boomy and unnatural. This often happens within a few feet, and can cause the main listening area to be an undesirable location. If you are forced to symmetrically install the subwoofer box in the home theater, use the phase switch located on the back ofthe amplifier. The ideal placement for a single subwoofer is in the room location that receives the highest dB level from the audio source (ex. CD player, AV receiver, etc.). This can be tested with a dB meter by measuring various spots in the room. Mark the highest-rated spots with masking tape to determine the best location. Consider the best sound, aesthetics, and installation-ease when choosing location.Dual subwoofer installations will cancel standing waves or “quiet” spots in the room, and often ensure the most evendistribution of bass in a theater. Most home theater rooms, even smaller ones, benefit greatly from adding a second subwoofer. The Episode™ subwoofer amplifier was designed for multiple subwoofer connections. (Note: This is a single amp with twoparalleled connections for convenience.)The boundary switch and phase switch can create hidden and unique placement options not found on ordinary subwoofer amplifiers.CLEANINGUse a soft cloth or paper towel to clean the amplifier.7Continuous Power Output 312 watts RMS at 8 ohms500 watts RMS at 4 ohmsInput Sensitivity 200 mv for full output, 500 watts, with level control set to max.Frequency Response 18 - 160 HzDistortion .04% THD+N 1W/2W 100 HzAuto On Sensitivity 3 mvExternal Trigger Voltage 5 V - 20 VEQ Modes Music: FlatMovie: +8dB@40Hz (30-80Hz)Boundary EQ ON = FlatOFF = +3dBDimensions 17˝ W (18.9˝ including rack mounts)1.7˝ H (1.9˝ including feet)10.4˝ D (11.2˝ including speaker connections)Weight 19.7 lbs.Certification ETL Listed and tested under UL/EN60065 for US and CanadaNo audio output • Power cable to the amplifier is incorrectly connected or pluggedinto an outlet that does not have power. We design all our transducers and cabinets in Emilia-Romagna of Italy,a lowland famous for music and fast cars.In fact,Lamborghini,Maserati and Ferrari are made just a few miles away from our design centers. The same area has a long tradition in designing and manufacturing some of the world's best professional transducers.Y our EL VIS speaker cabinet is capable of very high sound pressure level and it has been created to give you a performance that is better than any loudspeaker in this range. They are flexible in their passive and active configurations and can be used with single and multiple subwoofers.Enjoy your EL VIS speaker and make sure to read this Manual carefully before operation!Passive,Full-range,two speakers. This is the simplest set-up.Y ou just needa mixer and a stereo amplifier. It is good for small club gigs, disco, etc.Make all initial connections with all the equipment powered off,and ensure that all the main volume controls are turned down completely.1).Connect one side of the speaker cable to the Output CHA/CHB or BindingPost of your stereo power amplifier and the other side to the Input socket of your Elvis speaker cabinet.2).Complete other connections as illustrated.3).T urn on your mixer first, then the stereo power amplifier.4).T urn up the volume controls of your amplifier to about70%.5).Use PFL function to get the proper input level for the mixer, and adjust theMain Mix Level control to manipulate the output level.6).After use, turn off your stereo power amplifier first, then the mixer.MIXERIf you use a powered mixer for the passive speakers,it is no need to use an amplifier.make sure all the main volume controls of your power mixer are turned down completely.1).Connect one side of the speaker cable to the SPEAKER OUT of your poweredmixer and the other side to the Input socket of your Elvis speaker cabinet. 2).Use PFL function to get the proper input level for the mixer, and adjust theMain Mix Level control to manipulate the output level.3).After use, turn down of the Main Mix Level control first, then turn off thepowered mixer.Passive,Full-range,four speakers. It is similar to the first set-up but four speakers are connected instead of two.1).Follow the same steps as described above.2).Connect the THROUGH socket of the first Elvis cabinet to the INPUT socketof the second Elvis cabinet.NOTE:Every time you connect Elvis cabinets this way your parallel them tothe output of the amplifier that will read half of the impedance of one speaker.MIXERPassive two subwoofers and two satellite speakers. With this example, the stereo amplifier drives both the subwoofers and the satellites. In this case we do not call them full-range anymore because they receive a signal from the subwoofer that is already xovered at125Hz.In this way,the high energetic content of the low frequencies is limited to the subwoofer and the satellite's woofer act like a mid-woofer.1).Connect one side of speaker cable to the Output CHA/CHB or Binding Postof your stereo power amplifier and the other side to the Input socket of your subwoofer, with the second speaker cable connect the Output of the sub -woofer to the Input of satellite.2).Complete other connections as illustrated.3).T urn on your mixer first, then the stereo power amplifier.4).T urn up the volume controls of your amplifier to about70%.5).Use PFL function to get the proper input level for the mixer, and adjust theMain Mix Level control to manipulate the output level.6).After use, turn off your stereo power amplifier first, then the mixer.Active,Full-range,multiple speakers. This solution is particularly flexible when you have a large stage and for fixed installations where you want to send the same signal to different zones like in a Bar,Pub,Restaurant,Church, etc. Each EL VIS cabinet has its own volume control so you can adjust different volumes in different zones.1).Follow the above steps connecting the MAIN OUTPUTS of the mixer to theLINE INPUTS of2Elvis active cabinets.2).Connect the LINE OUT socket of the first EL VIS cabinet to the LINE INsocket of the subsequent piece.Y ou can connect as many speakers as you wish in this way.INOUTINMIXERActive, two satellite speakers&two subwoofers. In this example, the mixer is connected to the EL VIS subwoofers and then a125Hz xovered line signal is sent to the respective satellites. In this way,the high energetic content of the low frequencies is limited to the subwoofer and the satellite's woofer act like a mid -woofer.As a consequence the satellites built-in amplifier is not stressed by low frequency content.1).Connect one side of signal cable at your mixer into Main Output Left/Right(with1/4"Jack or XLR)and the other side of the cable into the Left/Mono Input(COMBO)of the EL VIS active subwoofers;with the second signal cable connect the Left/Mono Line Output of the subwoofer(Stereo/Mono-Jack or XLR)to the Line input(COMBO)of the active satellite(with Stereo-Jack or XLR).2).Connect the power cord to mains.3).T urn on your mixer first, then the active speaker cabinets.4).T urn up the volume control of the active speaker cabinets.5).Use PFL function to get the proper input level for the mixer, and adjust theMain Mix Level control to manipulate the output level.6).After use, turn off your active speaker cabinets first, then the mixer.LINE
