本产品使用时无需称量，每瓶或每两瓶本产品直接加入500ml或1L超纯水、去离子水或蒸馏水，无须溶解，直接121ºC高压灭菌15分钟，就可以制备成YPD液体培养基，可用于后续酵母等的培养。

每瓶本产品中含有高纯度高质量的酵母膏5g、大豆蛋白胨10g 和葡萄糖10g，具体可以参考下表。

本YPD培养基支持大多数异养微生物的生长，培养基中的蛋白胨提供氮营养， 酵母提取物提供含氮营养物质以及维生素B等，葡萄糖为酵母的生长提供碳水化合物和能量来源。

由于培养基组成简单，一般被用作酵母常规培养的基础培养基。

一个包装的本产品，共可以配制5L YPD液体培养基。
