Aims and DemandsKnowledge objectives.To learn information and spirit about a superhero by the name Christopher Reeve.To learn to cope with new vocabulary and phrasal verbs such as disaster and pull through..Ability objectives.To develop reading ability by gaining information about Christopher ReeveTo develop strategies for working out meaning when reading.Moral objectives:To learn from Christopher Reeve and never give up in face of difficulties.II. Teaching and Learning ProcessStep 1 Free talk —Warming up and leading inFirst get the students to talk about different trips or activities that the students did in the eight-day National Holidays and then lead the topic of my trip to Wu Chang.Mention the Wu Chang Uprising and tell the students that the Wu Chang Uprising took place on Oct.10th, 1911 and that it so happens that i t’s just October 10th today.Recall some events happening on Oct.10th and take Nelson Madala whom we learnt about in Lesson 2 as an example.Nelson Mandela’s houses were destroyed by terrorists on October 10th, 1991.Show the picture of Christopher Reeve and tell the students that Christopher Reeve died on October 10th,2004, the same day as today five years ago.Get the students to think about the following questions:What do you know about Christopher Reeve?A New Yorker in America.A famous actor, director and producer.What was his most famous film character?Superman.To know more about Christopher Reeve and how he changed from the character of superman in the films to a superhero in real life, we’d better come to the text. Today we are going to learn some more information about Christopher Reeve. Let’s take up Lesson 4, Superhero, Christopher Reeve , the fourth lesson of Unit 2.Step 2 Listening —Getting the general idea.Get the students to listen to the recording of the text and think about the following questions:1.
