据说,那些捉神鸟的人在山林里走来走去,都走出一条山路来了。
神鸟的事传到了依尔特戈(ɡē)尔可汗
〔kèhán〕那里,他想:“好厉害的鸟哇,都说谁也捉不到它,我非把它捉回来不可!”
依尔特戈尔可汗走进北边的山林,来到万年古松下。
那神鸟不惊也不逃,老老实实地就让他捉住了。
可汗非常高兴。
在顺着山路回家的时候,神鸟说:“尊贵的可汗!您捉住我可以说没费什么事,不过,您带着我走的时候,既不许唉声叹气,也不许闷[mēn]头不语。
不然,一眨眼我就会逃掉的。
所以,一路上咱们俩总得有一个讲点儿什么才成。
”可汗说:“好吧,那你就讲点儿什么吧!”
“行!我给您讲个故事。
”神鸟说,“听说有那么一个
地方,有个猎人,猎人有条狗。
一天,他带着狗出去打猎,在山谷里看到一辆装满金银财宝的牛车。
牛车坏了,停在那里,车主正坐着发愁。
他们寒暄(xuān)了一阵,车主说:‘猎人老兄!我想到前面的村子里去请个车匠。
请你和你的狗留在这里替我看会儿车吧!’猎人答应了。
车主非常高兴,就翻过山梁走了。
“猎人一直等到傍晚,也不见车主人回来,他想:‘我的老妈妈眼睛不好,恐怕从早晨到现在还没吃饭呢。
’于是就对他的狗说:‘我回去给妈妈做饭,你在这儿看[kān]着,要一直等到车主人回来。

车主说:‘真是条好狗!’就赏了一些银子,打发它回去。
猎人正在门口等着自己的狗。
狗看见主人,就把叼着的银子放到地上。
猎人一见,心里火了,说:‘我本来让你好好替人家看东西,可你反倒偷了人家的银
子!’说着,他拿起大棍子就把狗打死了。

“唉!多粗枝大叶呀!这么好的狗让他错杀了!”可汗叹了口气说。
“得,您叹气了。
”说完,神鸟就飞走了。
可汗埋[mán]怨自己说:“唉!我怎么忘了不准叹气呢!”他折回北边的山林,又从万年古松上捉下神鸟。
路上,神鸟说:“我再给您讲个故事吧。
听说有那么一个地方,有个妇女,她有只好猫。
一天,妇女到水井去打水。
她对猫说:‘你好好看着摇篮里的孩子!’妇女走了以后,猫就趴在摇篮边轰苍蝇,赶蚊子。
忽然,从门后边跑出来一只大老鼠,想咬小孩儿的耳朵。
猫非常生气,就去追那只老鼠,一直追出了屋子。
这时,又有一只大老鼠跑了出来,一口咬掉了孩子的一只耳朵。
孩子痛得哇哇直哭。
那只正在追赶老鼠的猫,心里一惊,赶紧跑回屋来,把老鼠咬死在门后。
然后,坐到孩子跟前,给他舔耳朵上的血。

忽然,他听见旁边滴滴答答直响,一看,原来石崖顶上正一滴一滴地往下滴水。
阿尔拜赶紧掏出木碗去接水。
好容易接了一碗,刚要喝,忽然飞过来一只乌鸦,用翅膀把他的碗打翻了。
阿尔拜非常生气,说:‘这坏乌鸦,把老天爷可怜我,一滴一滴赏给我的水全给弄洒了!’他捡起石头,追上去,把乌鸦打死了。
