the meaning of...……的意思。
Do you know the meaning of this word? 你知道这个单词的意思吗?【拓展】(l) mean为动词,意为“意思是,意味着”,既可作及物动词又可作不及物动词,后接动词作宾语时可用动名词或动词不定式。
mean to do sth意为“打算做某事”;mean doing意味着,常与介词by搭配。
如:This word means “nothing”.这个词的意思是“什么也没有”。
(2)询问某个词或某个句子是什么意思的常用句式:What does... mean?/What is the meaning of...?/What do you mean by...?2. For example, why are great people so successful?例如,为什么伟人那么成功?for example意为“例如”,用来列举同类人或物中的“一个”。
如:Ball games, for example, have spread around the world.例如,球类运动已经在世界各地传播开了。
(1)such as常列举同类人或物中的几个例子,常与and so on连用。
China has many big cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and so on.中国有许多大城市,比如:北京、上海、天津等等。
(2)for example 一般只列举同类人或物中的“一个”为例,作插入语,用逗号与其他部分隔开,可置于句首、句中或句末。
Noise, for example, is a kind of pollution. 例如,噪音就是一种污染。
