CATTI英语笔译实务(2级)2016年11月考试真题英译中第一篇Everyone knows that weddings—the most elaborate and costly form of old school pageantry still acceptable in modern society—are stupid expensive. But it turns out Americans are now blowing even more money than ever before on what’s supposed to be the most magical day of any couple’slife together. Money that to be honest could be spent on much much cooler stuff.
The Knot released its annual wedding survey this week with findings showing that couples are spending a mind-numbing average of $32641 on matrimonial celebrations. The study includes data from nearly 18000 pairs across the country. While the cost of a wedding varied greatly from city to city—reaching a nauseating high of $82300 in Manhattan—the price was steep no matter where couples chose to get hitched. All this despite the fact that weddings (and marriages in general honestly) can be a fairly impractical thing to invest in. Seriously even 50 Cent doesn’t spend asmuch in a day as you’re spending on a reception band alone. Think about that.
(2)PART THREEQuestions 13-18Read the following article on recruiting and managing staff and the questions on the opposite page. For question 13-18, mark one letter (A,B,C or D) on your Answer Sheet for the answer you choose. As a manager in the service industry sector. I've looked at hundreds of CVs in my time. They are not necessarily the bland documents some bosses might think they are! They are full of little pointers towards individuals' personalities and suitability for the job. The first thing I always look at is an applicant's employment record. I check for continuity and stability. If somebody has a long list of previous jobs, all of varying length, alarm bells star ringing. Rather than an irregular route from job to job. What I hope to see is stable career progression. What does their career path look like-is it all steps forward, or are there a tot of sideways moves? And I am always pleased to find a family person with children, because in my experience they tend to be responsible and reliable.I never rely on CVs alone. We get applicants to fill in one of our own application forms. We ask why they’ve applied, what their aspirations and personal goals are. and also about their interests and hobbies and any clubs they belong to. That gives you a useful insight into their personality and lifestyle. The application form also enables us to test ho, much people have actually been progressing in their careers, because we ask for details of the salaries they have received for each job. It's always worth looking m CVs and designing applicationforms with great care. Taking on employees might be rewarding but it is also a big investment for any business. Mistakes in choosing staff can cost companies dear. so it makes sense to spend time ensuring you get the right person. In the service sector, one of the aims of companies is to maintain and improve customer service, and this is achieved partly through low staff turnover. You need to take on people who understand that, and will want to stay. That's why, when you’ve taken staff on, the next thing is getting the best out of them.My management style comes from the days when 1 took over my first business, an ailing road haulage firm which I was certain I could tram into a profitable company. The first thing is to treat others as you'd like to be treated yourself. As soon as I took over the business, I talked to everybody individually, and looked for ways to make sure their particular skills benefited the company.I didn't have much experience then of managing people, but above all I always tried to be fair and honest with everyone. As a result, I think the staff knew that and accepted my decisions, even if they didn't agree with them all. Also, bosses must be able to communicate. You also need to create team spirit, and build on the strength of the team. I explained my plans for the company to all the staff, and let them all 'know what I needed from them. The lorry drivers responded brilliantly, and were the key to turning the business round. They understood that we had to develop a professional reputation, and from then on the days of poor quality deliveries were over.Lastly, I am a great believer in profit-sharing. It takes a team to make a company work, so profits should be shared by all. Jobsatisfaction is important, but it doesn't pay the rent. Shared profit and bonuses help to strengthen team spirit by giving everyone a common goal that they work towards together.13.what fact does the writer to learn from applicants' CVs?A.that they have experience of many different jobsB.that their careers have developed steadily.C.the opinion their employers had of themD.whether the3' are married or single14.The writer says the application form is useful because itA.reveals something of the applicant's character.B.gives information about the applicant's family.C.explains what skills the applicant has for the job.D.shows how much the applicant wants to earn.15.According to the writer, why are CVs and application forms so important?A.Interviewing people is an expensive process.B.They indicate whether applicants really want the job.C.They indicate whether applicants are efficient or not.D.Employing the wrong people can be disastrous.16 One reason why the writer was successful in her first business was thatA.she was used to dealing with people.B.she was open with the staff.C.the business was already doing well when she started.D.the staff agreed with all her decisions.17.The writer believes profit-sharing is a good idea becauseA.it encourages a competitive spirit.B.everyone earns the same salaryC.everyone shares the same aim.D.it creates job satisfaction.18.Which would make the best title for this text?A.Profit-sharing as motivationB.How 1 turned a business roundC.People the key to business successD.The importance of a well-presented CV。

"“To Kill a Mockingbird” may notbe the Great American Novel. But it’s likely the most universally known work offiction by an American author over the past 70 years. CATTI二级笔译英译汉真题2016年11月(总分:60.00,做题时间:120分钟)一、PART 1 English-Chinese Translation (60 points) (总题数:1,分数:30.00)1.Passage 1 Everyone knows that weddings—the most elaborate and costly form of old school pageantry still acceptable in modern society—are stupid expensive. But it turns out Americans are now blowing even more money than ever before on what’s supposed to be the most m agical day of any couple’s life together. Money that, to be honest, could be spent on much, much cooler stuff. The Knot released its annual wedding survey this week, with findings showing that couples are spending a mind-numbing average of $32,641 on matrimonial celebrations. The study includes data from nearly 18,000 pairs across the country. While the cost of a wedding varied greatly from city to city—reaching a nauseating high of $82,300 in Manhattan—the price was steep no matter where couples chose to get hitched. All this despite the fact that weddings (and marriages in general, honestly) can be a fairly impractical thing to invest in. Seriously, even 50 Cent doesn’t spend as much in a day as you’re spending on a reception band alone. Think about that. So rather than buying into the Marriage Industrial Complex on a union that may or may not work out, wouldn’t it make more sense to save your hard-earned money by forgoing the big ceremony for the major expenses you’re likely to face in married life? You kn ow, like a mortgage. Or braces for your wallet-draining children-to-be. And if your fianceé is dead set on a fairytale wedding? You could always just blow your financial load on a plenty fulfilling single life. With nearly $33,000 to spend in the life of a singledom, you could get pretty far when it comes to amenities and entertainment. Perhaps the best part of being free from the shackles of wedding planning is the opportunity to treat yourself. Like, why drop $1,400 on a frilly dress you’ll wear once befo re it turns to moth food when you can rock the most expensive shoes of the season and look great doing it? And while weddings are supposed to be all about the happy couple, everyone knows that’s bull, because you have to feed your guests and provide them entertainment and put a roof over their heads for a couple of hours and likely go into debt doing it. In addition to simply having fun, there are some more practical ways to spend your wedding purse as well. For instance, purchasing and providing for a nice house cat rather than dropping major dough on finger bling intended for fending off hotties for the rest of your life. Fluffy won’t care if you bring home someone new every weekend—he’ll just hate everyone indiscriminately.(分数:30.00)__________________________________________________________________________________________ 正确答案:(每个人都清楚婚礼贵的荒唐至极,这种形式繁琐且花费高昂的老掉牙庆典方式仍然为现代社会所接受。
2016年11月英语三级笔译实务试题及答案英译中Harper Lee was an ordinary woman as stunned as anybody by the extraordinary success of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”“It was like being hit over the head and knocked cold,” Lee — who died Friday at age 89,said during a 1964 inte rview. “I didn’t expect the book to sell in the first place. I was hoping for a quick and merciful death at the hands of reviewers but at the same time I sort of hoped that maybe someone would like it enough to give me encouragement.”“To Kill a Mockingbird” may not be the Great American Novel. But it’s likely the most universally known work of fiction by an American author over the past 70 years, Lee was cited for her subtle, graceful style and gift for explaining the world through a child’s eye, but the secret to the novel’s ongoing appeal was also in how many books this single book contained.“To Kill a Mockingbird” was a coming-of-age story, a courtroom thriller, a Southern novel, a period piece, a drama about class, and — of course — a drama of race.”All I want to be is the Jane Austen of South Alabama,” she once observed. The story of Lee is essentially the story of her book, and how she responded to it. She was a warm, vibrant and witty woman who played golf, fished, ate at McDonald’s, fed ducks by tossing seed corn out of a Cool Whip tub, read voraciously, and got about to plays and concerts. She just didn’t want to talk about it before an audience.“To Kill a Mockingbird” was an instant and ongoing hit, published in 1960, as the civil ri ghts movement was accelerating. It’s the story of a girl nicknamed Scout growing up in a Depression-era Southern town. A black man has been wrongly accused of raping a white woman, and Scout’s father, the resolute lawyer, defends him despite threats and th e scorn of many.Praised by The New Yorker as “skilled, unpretentious, and totally ingenious,” the book won the Pulitzer Prize and was made into a memorable movie in 1962.“Mockingbird” inspired a generation of young lawyers and social workers, was assigned in high schools all over the country and was a popular choice for citywide, or nationwide, reading programs, although it was also occasionally removed fromshelves for its racial content and references to rape.By 2015, sales topped 40 million copies. When the Library of Congress did a survey in 1991 on books that have affected people’s lives, “To Kill a Mockingbird” was second only to the Bible.Lee herself became more elusive to the public as her book became more famous. At first, she dutifully promoted her work. She spoke frequently to the press, wrote about herself and gave speeches, once to a class of cadets at West Point. But she began declining interviews in the mid-1960s and, until late in her life, firmly avoided making any public comment about her novel or her career. Her novel, while hugely popular, was not ranked by many scholars in the same category as the work of other Southern authors Decades after its publication, little was written about it in scholarly journals. Some critics have called the book naive and sentimental, whether dismissing the Ku Klux Klan as a minor nuisance or advocating change through personal persuasion rather than collective action.中译英本公司是一家大型国有房地产上市公司,国家一级房地产开发资质企业,连续五年荣膺中国房地产行业领导公司品牌。

Part ⅡTranslate the following passages into Chinese.Passage 1Commercial banks are at the center of the international capital market, not only because they run the international payments mechanism but because of the broad range of financial activities they undertake. Bank liabilities consist chiefly of deposits of various maturities, while their assets consist largely of loans ( to corporations and governments ), deposits at other banks ( interbank deposits ), and bonds. Multinational banks are also heavily involved in other types of asset transaction. For example, banks may underwrite issues of corporate stocks and bonds by agreeing, for a fee, to find buyers for those securities at a guaranteed price. One of the key facts about international banking is that banks are often free to pursue activities abroad that they would not be allowed to pursue in their home countries. This type of regulatory asymmetry has spurred the growth of international banking over the past 40 years.商业银行是国际资本市场的中心,不仅是因为他们运行的国际支付机制,还因为他们进行的广泛的金融活动。
