Ya'an

It’s 380km far from here and will take about 6 hours. We’ll pass by Shuangliu, Pujiang, Y a’an, TianQuan. It’s a good chance for you to see the Snow Mountain, blockhouse, glacier and grassland….
After 40mins driving, we are in the Y a’an city. Y a’an is located in the west of the Sichuan Basin. The area of Y a’an is about 15,300 square kilometers, with a population of 1,548,000. Y an’s has many rivers and mountains rich in mineral resources. Ya’an lies on the main routes to Tibet and Yunnan. It used to be on the main passage of the south Silk Road and is still and important center of commodity distribution today.
Y a’an is a well-known city for panda’s hometown. In 1876 a French missionary discovered the first panda in Bao Xin County, Y a’an city, Y a’an became known to people at home and abroad. Ya’an is rich in both natural scenery and cultural heritage. Traditionally Ya’an is known for its tea. As an old saying goes: “The best water is from the Y angtze River where as the best tea is from Mt. Mengding.” Tea drinking in according to the historical records, Mt. Mengding, is the earliest place to grow tea. In the Tang Dynasty, 742AD, Mengding tea was listed as one of the tributes presented to emperors. It’s called the hometown of fairy green tea.
Look outside; it’s drizzling for we’re getting close the city of Rain. Y ou may wonder why we cal l Y a’an as the city of rain. Anybody knows? Millions years ago, after the heavy battle between the gods, the heaven was broken, all over the world suffered from flood. At that time, there was a goddess, her name is Nv Wa, she repaired the heaven, but when she repaired at this area, she lacked of stone, so rain seeps through heaven. The Ya’an city became the Rainy Zone of West China, because the annual rainfall is 1700mm. it is one of the heaviest rain-fall zone of the world. But, this is a folk story, the real reason is the cold current from Tibetan Plateau meats the warm and damp air from the pacific ocean, shaping the unique climate here as the city of rain and constant humidity. It’s a nice story, isn’t it? Oh,you are eager to know more about the city, you have the good chance. Besides the rain, the fish and the girl of Ya’an’s are the Three Wonders of Ya’an. Ya’an? It’s a good question. The fish of Ya’an refers to a very tasty local fish. The girl of Ya’an mainly refers to pretty young ladies in Ya’an. Yes, I think your suggestion is very appropriate; Ya’an can change her name as romantic city. Do you want to visit the city? Everybody say yes, but we just pass the city.
