创作背景
叶圣陶1919年参加了李大钊、鲁迅支持的北京大学学生组织“新潮社”，1921年与郑振铎、茅盾 等人组织发起“文学研究会”。 1921年9月，郑振铎写《〈儿童世界〉宣言》，介绍自己即将主编 的这本周刊的宗旨及内容分类，并于1922年1月创刊。叶圣陶1980年回忆自己的童话创作并自述是 从一九二一年十一月十五日的第一篇《小白船》开始写童话的，郑振铎先生主编《儿童世界》要他 供给稿子。

作品简介
《稻草人》是叶圣陶1922年发表的 中国现代童话。 通过一个富有同情 心而又无能为力的稻草人的所见所 思，真实地描写了二十世纪二十年 代中国农村风雨飘摇的人间百态， 展现了当时劳动人民的苦难。该作 是中国文学史上最早为儿童创作的 文学作品之一。
作品鉴赏
《稻草人》展现了人民的苦难，气氛显得低沉和悲哀，构 思新颖独特，描写细腻逼真，富于现实内容。
从叶圣陶童话的基调看，多数童话都采用了民间故事中常 用的反复变奏手法。虽然其童话中包括童话固有的奇幻色 彩，但多数细节描写都以写实为主，故事中的幻想也是在 写实基础上产生的，这样的写实，在一般童话中很难找到。
叶圣陶的童话具有充满诗意的童话意 境、通俗易懂的童话语言、民族化的 风格。他从童话题材到通话内容都极 具有民族化的特色，在童话题材主题 的挖掘上，《稻草人》中体现了鲜明 的民族色彩。在叙事模式上则是三段 式和部分的反复。《稻草人》中通过 老妇人、渔家女、弱女子三者的不幸 遭遇映射出社会底层人民普遍的辛酸 困苦。
