Period 5 Task

一.【设计思想】

通过课内一系列的开放式任务活动渗透对学生“听、说、读、写” 能力的培养以及学生用英语获取信息、处理信息的能力。

二.【教学目标】

1.训练学生获取组织信息的能力,同时让学生学会写一份报告。

2.训练学生“听、说、读、写” 能力。

1.训练学生获取组织信息的能力。

2.让学生掌握报告的几个要素。

【课堂教与学】

Step1: Lead-in

Please work in pairs and “talk” with body language. One of you, show the body

language, and the other, guess its meaning.

Step2: Listening

Look at the chart on Page 33. First predict what the body language means in America.

Then let’s listen and confirm( make sure) what you think is correct or incorrect.

Fill in the table below based on the information given

Body language Meaning(s)

Shaking hands by grasping the

Step 3: Surveying your classmates

Remember the following advice when you write questions.

Get to the point!

Give all necessary background information.

Use simple language.

Step4: Learning how to write a report

Organize a report

Four main sections:

Introduction ---- What the report is about.

Method ---- How you found the information.

Results ---- What you found out or proved in your report.

Conclusion ---- A summary of the report. It sometimes includes advice.

Tips for writing:

Avoid using the first person in report.

The passive in the past tense can be used to describe what you did.

Do the exercise on page36.

Step 5:Writing a report on body language

Write a report about how body language is used in China, compared with other

countries.

1. This report is about…

2. The information was found …./ collected from … through…

3. From the outcome, we can see/ learn …

4. In a word …/ The results suggest that…

Last month, our company carried out a survey about shopping on line among 1000

interviewees younger than 35 years old.

64% of those interviewed are willing to shop on line, mainly because they think

the Internet makes it convenient for them to buy what they need although they are

staying at home. Besides, they believe that goods online are cheaper, with a variety

of brands to choose from. The rest of the interviewees don’t want to shop on line,

claiming that goods on sale on the Internet might be fake and that they are worried

about being cheated out of money.

In conclusion, only by guarding against the disadvantages of on-line shopping

will more and more people choose the shop online.
