Rescued from the bitterly cold Atlantic on that April 1912 nigh t, Dean, her 2-year-old brother and her mother were taken to New York with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Before returning home to En gland, they were given a small suitcase of donated clothing, a gift from New Yorkers to help them rebuild their lives. Now, Dean is selling the suitcase and other Titanic mementos to help pay her nursing home fees. They are expected to go for $5, 200 at an auction held in Devizes in western England.Among the things are rare prints of the Titanic and letters from the Titanic Relief Fund offering her mother one pound, seven shillings a nd six pence a week.Which of the following statements about the suitcase is TRUE?A. It was used to hold letters to Dean's mother.B. It was sold at an auction held in Devizes in western England.C. It was a present from America to help Dean's family.D. It was made of valuable material.【解析】正确答案选C。
A、B两选项虽然出现了原文中的很多信息:letters,Dean's m other,at an auction held in Devizes in western England,但是原文并未提到手提箱是用来放信件的,我们从原文也能知道手提箱将要被拍卖,而非已经买了。
虽然我们不能从原文中找到和C选项一样的句子,但它和原文中“Before returning home t o England, they were given a small suitcase of donated clothing, a gift f rom New Yorkers to help them rebuild their lives.”
Sports 3:GymWe will be using Central Park. There are three reasons for choosin g this place. First, it is not very busy and crowded before 6:00 pm...Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. Students selecting volleyball should register early.B. Students participating in gym should arrive at 6:00 pm.C. Students having swimming suits can take up swimming.D.
Sea vegetables are usually eaten because people like the taste. However, sea vegetables are also a good source of vitamins and minerals. They are especially valuable on islands where green vegetabl es are difficult to grow, or where the soil is poor and local vegetables la ck certain essential minerals. Besides being nutritious, many sea vegetab les have medicinal properties. They can help keep you well and protect against heart diseases, diabetes and goiter.People eat sea plants for all the following reasons EXPECT that ______ _ .A. they are rich in vitamins.B. they taste delicious.C. they can cure us of many diseases.D. they serve as main vegetables on islands.【解析】从原文中“They can help keep you well and protect against heart disease s, diabetes and goiter.
Queenstown RaftingWhere:The trip starts in the Mt Cook National Park, about 50 km south in a direct line from Mt Cook. It then travels about 60 km down to me et the Hasst River. When:every Tuesday,November to MarchDuration:3 days / 2 nightsIncluded:scenic flight;five-star camping meals;accornmodation(tent);all camping and rafting equipment;three days of wilderness activities(bu sh walking,rafting,canyoning)Cost:$195 per personContact:0800-723-888 or visit www.ratfing.co,nzWhat information can we get from Queenstown Rafting ?A. Travelers will live in five-star tents.B. The trip is about 110 km in total.C. Travelers can experience canyoning.D.The trip will take you four months, from November to March.【解析】A选项把原文中的five-star camping meals偷换成了five-star tents,原文中的50km是指Mt Cook National Park距离Mt Cook的直线距离,B选项把这50 km弄错成了旅程中的一段距离,所以计算出的110km总旅程是错误的。
