Halloween

Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy

evening," and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Saints' Day. However, it is not

really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly.

Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins.

Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a

person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o'-lanterns, which means "Jack of

the lantern".

The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some

children paint their faces to look like

monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a

Easter is a convergence of three traditions. pagan, Hebrew and

Christian. Although the observance of Easter was at a very early

period in the practice of the Christian church, a serious difference

as to the day for its observance soon arose between the Christians

of Jewish, and those of Gentile descent, which led to a long and bitter

controversy.

pagan Origins

The pagan origins of the holiday according to a Venerable Bede,

English historian of the early 8th century, the name Easter, like

the name of the days of the week, is a survival from the old Teutonic

mythology. According to Bede it is derived from the No rse Ostara

or Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring, to whom the month of

April, and called Eostur-monath, was dedicated. The Greek myth,

Plain concrete is formed from a hardened mixture of cement, water fine aggregate, coarse

aggregate (crushed stone or gravel), air and often other admixtures. The plastic mix

is placed and consolidated in the formwork ,then cured to facilitate the acceleration

of the chemical hydration reaction of the cement /water mix ,resulting in hardened

concrete The finished product has high compressive strength ,and low resistance to

tension ,such that tensile strength is approximately one-tenth of its compressive

strength .Consequently ,tensile and shear reinforcement in the tensile regions of

sections has to be provided to compensate for the weak-tension regions in the reinforced

concrete element.
