SPECIAL FEATURES / CONDITIONS:
Due to the nature of the job, there will be an occasional need for attendance outside of normal working hours. There will be a need to travel internationally on a regular basis. Occasionally it may be necessary to have extended stays outside UK.
The role also includes being the ‘responsible person’ for all Hazardous Location and Functional Safety activities within the division.
MAIN DUTIES:
(a) The management and execution of projects for the certification of new and existing product ranges. To work within the R&D team to consider the implications of meeting technical legislations when designing/testing products. Liaise with the relevant certification bodies to certify or amend existing product designs and technical documentation. To participate in any factory audits regarding product certification as required. To generate certification drawings and assessment reports against the applicable standards to meet the requested product approval and company standards from project specifications, design concepts/layouts, customer enquiries/orders and/or instructions. This includes calculations/analysis both by hand and with the assistance of computer software. All design work to be done with full consideration of product safety and other application requirements, manual assembly needs and cost of manufacturing and materials. To review and sign off all design changes which may affect an existing certification to ensure the products will still conform to the relevant standards. Document and analyse any industry wide incidents that may affect the company / product, and advise any changes that need making. Participate in any 8D reviews when related to a non-conformance that has an implication against an existing certification. Liaise with Purchasing and Operations to ensure timely delivery of parts required for testing and to co-ordinate testing and other project activities. Provide regular updates on progress made including tasks completed, tasks still to complete, risks to the project, changes to standards and general certification concerns. Update and maintain Engineering databases and documentation to ensure easy retrieval and utilisation of previous designs. To thoroughly check the work of other Engineers. Mentoring and instruction of Engineers and other company staff on certification requirements and best engineering practices. To assist the Sales and Operations departments when requested to ensure that customer expectations are met in an appropriate and timely fashion. To maintain a good standard of housekeeping within the office and associated areas. To cover for other Engineering staff during holidays/sickness.

The role will involve assessing Rotork products against all the applicable directives, approvals and standards that are required to sell into different countries around the world. To lead the work required for gaining/maintaining all applicable approvals, along with assessing the impact on product change requests for the following: Hazardous Locations (ATEX, IECEx, CSA etc.) CE Marking (all applicable Directives) Functional Safety (IEC 61508) All other international standards and national legislation. Your results will be judged against the above parameters. You are required to work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and any other legislation.
