书面表达
One possible version:
Earth Hour
Earth Hour started in Australia with millions of homes and businesses turning their lights off
for one hour. People are all joining together in a global effort to show that it’s possible to take
action on global warming.
Beijing took part in Earth Hour this year. The "Bird’s Nest" National Stadium and the nearby
"Water Cube", usually illuminated by floodlights, went dark at 8:30 p.m., while dozens of hotels,
office buildings, shopping malls and restaurants also switched their lights off. People joined in
activities such as candle-lit dinners and star-gazing parties as a response to the call for "going
dark".
I support the action. In my opinion, Earth Hour is a message of hope and a message of action.
It will have a great influence on people’s attitude towards global warming. We should take
responsibility and get involved in working towards a bright future. Everyone can make a
difference.

Text 1
W:Did you lock the doors?
M:All except the back door. I left that open for Tim.He took the dog out for a walk.
Text 2
W:The news about the local agriculture doesn’t sound good, does it?
M:Not according to the newspaper yesterday. I saw a similar report last night on TV.
Text 3
W:Don’t forget. We’re invited out for dinner tonight.
M:Oh.I almost forgot. Thanks for reminding me. What time?
W:Seven-thirty. We should leave the house one hour early. You know how bad the traffic is
that time of night.
Text 4
W:Did you watch the game last night?
M:I sure did.I wouldn’t have missed it for anything! Text 5
W:How much is this bag?
M:You mean the large one or the small one?
W:The large one.
M:They’re on sale this week. They’ve been reduced to fifteen dollars.
Text 6
M:Where do you want to go, madam?
W:The San Francisco Hilton, please.Brrr! It’s cold, eh?
M:Well, San Francisco is usually cold in winter, you know, in November, December,
January. It’s often very rainy, and it sometimes…
W:But it gets very hot in summer, doesn’t it?
M:Not really. It’s not really like the rest of California. It gets warm though, in July
and August. That’s the best time to visit. Uh, oh. Here comes the rain! Just like England!
W:That’s right.
Text 7
W:You see, I can’t sleep very well. Could I have some sleeping pills, perhaps?
M:Hm,why can’t you sleep?
W:I don’t know really.
M:Is anything worrying you?
W:Well…perhaps…I’m working very hard... We’re very busy at the moment.
M:Well, I don’t really like giving patients sleeping pills. You must have a good rest…
forget all about work. If you can’t sleep, have a hot bath before you go to bed, and then
read a boring book. Don't choose a book that’s very exciting. Don’t drink coffee…
W:Oh, but I like a drink before I go to bed.
M:OK,but have a glass of milk. Have some fruit or bread—but don’t have a big meal in the
evening.
Text 8
M:Hello, police station.
W:Oh, is that police? Thank God. I’m sure there’s someone outside in the garden trying to
get into the house. I can hear a sound like a key in the 1ock in the back door.
M:Would you give me your name and address, please, Miss?
W:Angela Barton, 1 5 Park Road, Alford. It’s on the left-hand side, the first right turn of
London Road as you leave the village.
M:Right. Please go on.
W:I live alone, you see, and the neighbors are away on holiday, and I can hear this noise.
What shall I do? I’m afraid to open the door, because there isn’t a chain on it,and you
can’t see it from the street.
M:No, you’d better not take any chances. I’ll send a car around straight away. Can I have
your telephone number, miss?
W:Yes. Nine three eight two six double nine.
M:OK. Can you lock the door to the room you’re speaking from?
W:Yes. I’ve already done that.
M:Good. You’d better stay next to the phone until the police car arrives. The car will be there
in less than five minutes.
