英语作文范文应用文 (Practical Writing)写作(一) 定义应用文是人们用来处理日常生活、工作和学习的一种简易通俗的文章。
(二) 种类应用文的种类很多,包括公文、书信、公约、批示以及单据等。
由于篇幅有限,本文仅根据六级考试的实际需要,重点介绍以下几种常见的应用文——书信、便条、通知、海报和英文摘要的写作方法。
1. 书信英文书信的种类,大致分为社交信(Social Letters),家信(Family Letters),及商业信(Business Letters)三种。
一封英文书信主要由九个部分组成:(1) 信头(Heading):信头,即信端,是指写信人的地址和写信日期。
信头写在信笺的右上角,一般可以从信纸中间或稍右的地方写起,先写寄信人地址,后写日期。
英文地址的写法也与中文习惯不同。
中文地址的书写次序是国→省→市→街→门牌号码,而英文的写法则恰恰相反。
比较:中文写法中国福建省厦门市,361021集美大学606信箱英文写法P.O. Box 606Jimei UniversityXiamen, 361021Fujian ProvinceP.R. China中文书信的日期写于落款之后,而英文信函的日期位于信端之下,信内地址之上。
根据英美不同的习惯,日期可有两种写法。
如2003年5月20日可写作:20 May 2003 (英式写法)May 20, 2003, 或May 20th, 2003 (美式写法)注意:月份应用英文写出,不以阿拉伯数字代替,因此,上例日期不可写成2003,5,20。
此外,美式英语要求月份与年份之间用逗号隔开,但英式写法在月份与年份之间一般无逗号。
(2) 信内地址 (Inside Address)信内地址是指收信人的姓名和地址,写在信笺的左上角,从左边略低于写信日期的一、二行处顶格写起。
先写姓名、头衔和单位名称,后写地址,其排列次序和信头一样。
假如不知收信人的姓名,可用其职务或机构名称代替,如:Personnel Director(用职务)Boots the Chemist Ltd.16-18 Pulton RoadChiswickU.K.Office of Admissions(用机构)Fordham UniversityRose Hill CampusBronx, New York 10486U.S.A(3) 称呼(Salutation)称呼自成一行,从信纸的左边顶格写起。
便条写作(简介)由于便条大都是临时告知或询问,或在某一场合下直接留言,所谈论的内容大多是一两天以内发生的事情,所以写便条时往往开门见山,而且格式也没有普通书信那样严格。
譬如留言条,日期可以写年,月,日,或者只写月日,也可以写星期几或星期几上午,下午。
日期,称呼,起行等也没有严格的限制。
但无论采用什么形式,或者内容多么简短,一定要讲清楚四点内容,即写给谁的,什么事情,谁写的,什么时间写的。
另外,便条多用于熟悉的同事,同学,朋友之间,往往是托人递条或者本人临时在某一场合的直接留言。
从正式程度上讲,用词比较通俗,口语化。
譬如讲到“要告诉某人某事”可以用“Just a line to tell you that…” 而不必用“This is to inform you that…”开头。
同样,说到“延期”,可以用“put off”而不必用“postpone”。
总之,写便条时要留意用一些常用的词,常用的搭配,以及简单的句子结构。
(一)邀请,接受邀请或谢绝邀请1.邀请邀请便条是指邀请某人共进午餐,晚餐,茶会,参加生日聚会,舞会,看电影,戏剧等活动时,给被邀请者发出的非正式邀请信。
邀请便条一定要讲清楚邀请事由,赴邀的具体时间和地点,有时还需要讲清楚其他被邀请者的人数,姓名或与该邀请者的关系,必要时还要交代赴约的注意事项等。
例如:May 10Dear John,Our class is planning a dinner party to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Professor Wang Ming’s teaching at Xinfu Hotel. It’s next Saturday, May 15th, at six o’clock. Mo st of our classmates have promised to show up, and we want you to come. Please remember to bring your video camera to the party.
