I just had the most super fun day at school today and I can't wait to tell you all about it!It started off like any normal day. My mom woke me up at 7am, I got dressed in my uniform, ate some congee with pickled vegetables for breakfast, and my dad drove me to school. The morning classes were kind of boring as usual - Chinese, math, and science. But I knew something exciting was coming after lunch! You see, every few months our school has a special "Culture Day" where we get to learn all about a different country and culture through games, activities, food, and more. This time, the country was Australia! I was soooo excited because I've always wanted to go to Australia. It seems like such a cool place with all those cute kangaroos, cuddly koalas, and beautiful beaches. After our lunch of steamed buns and vegetables, we went to the auditorium for the big Culture Day kick-off. The teachers had decorated it to look like the Australian Outback - with pretend dirt roads, boulders, and even a few stuffed kangaroos! There were also Australian flag decorations and facts about Australia all over the walls. So cool. The first activity was a didgeridoo performance and lesson. The didgeridoo is this long wooden wind instrument that makes such an awesome droning sound. The performer showed us how the Aboriginal people of Australia have played it for thousands of years during ceremonial rituals. He made some crazy cool noises with it that sounded like an elephant or something! Then we each got to try playing it briefly. I felt like I was transported to the Australian desert.Next up was a session on Australian slang. We learned words like "g'day" for hello, "arvo" for afternoon, and "mates" for friends. My favorite was "sanger" for sandwich - how funny is that?? We also learned that Australians love to shorten lots of words by adding "ie" or "o" to the end, like "bevvie" for beverage and "sarvo" for salad roll. The teacher said Aussie slang can be hard for foreigners to pick up at first but it's all part of the fun laid-back Australian culture. After the classroom sessions, we went outside for a bunch of Australian sports and games. We did activities like throwing boomarangs, hitting a swinging target with a rope forroo-bashing, kicking around australian footballs, and running an obstacle course race barefoot like they do at schoolyard games in Australia. I was the champion at the barefoot race and got a cute little stuffed koala bear as a prize! When we went back inside, it was time for arguably the most exciting part - Australian food tastings! We got to try so many delicious Aussie snacks and specialties. There were savory things like meat pies, sausage rolls, vegemite (that weird black yeast spread), french fries with chicken salt, and shrimp on the barbie (that's shrimp on the grill for us). And for sweets there were pavlovas, lamingtons, caramel slices, ANZAC biscuits, and the best of all - tim tam cookies! OMG you guys, tim tams are SO ADDICTING. They're these chocolate-covered cookie/cake combos that you can do the "tim tam slam" with by biting off both ends and using it as a straw to suck up your milk or hot chocolate. You have to try it!After we stuffed ourselves silly with australian treats, it was time for the closing show - a performance by some professional Aboriginal dancers! They came on stage wearing traditionalbody paint and performing music and dances from their ancient culture. It was amazing to watch them play those stick instruments and move their bodies to recreate scenes of hunting, gathering, rituals and celebrations from thousands of years ago. The dancing was intense yet also beautiful and hypnotic. Finally, the awesome Culture Day ended with a screening of the classic Australian kids movie The Rescuers Down Under. I'd already seen it before but it was still just as fun and exciting - those golden eagles are no joke! As we walked out of the auditorium, each student got a little goody bag filled with more tim tams, vegemite, stickers, a boomerang keychain and flyers about traveling to Australia. What a perfect way to end the best day!I honestly had no idea Australia had such a rich and vibrant culture before experiencing this Culture Day at school. I learned soooo much about their indigenous people, unique lingo, intense sports, unusual foods, and more. Australia is unlike anywhere else in the world and I can't wait to (hopefully) visit the real thing someday! I'll never forget this super fun and educational day celebrating the amazing Land Down Under. Thanks for reading about my awesome experience. Until next time, g'day mates!篇2My Most Exciting School Day Ever!Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I'm in 5th grade at Haidian Elementary School here in Beijing. I've had a lot of fun and interesting days at school, but I want to tell you about the most exciting one!It was a beautiful sunny day in early May. I woke up feeling great and couldn't wait to get to school. I quickly got dressed in my uniform, ate a nice breakfast of congee with pickles that my mom made, and headed out the door. The walk to school is always fun because I get to see all the shops and parks along the way. When I arrived at school, my best friend Jingjing was waiting for me at the entrance. "Xiaoming!" she shouted excitedly. "Did you hear the big news?!" I shook my head, having no idea what she was talking about. Jingjing could barely contain herself as she told me, "We're going on a field trip today to the Beijing Zoo!"My jaw dropped. The Beijing Zoo?! That was the most amazing place ever in my mind. I had been wanting to go for years but my parents never had the time to take me. I gaveJingjing the biggest high five ever and we ran into the school courtyard jumping up and down. We couldn't wait!Class started as normal that day. Our teacher Ms. Wang came in smiling and started the day's lessons. But you could tell she was anxious to share the big news with the entire class. Finally, about an hour into the morning, she put her chalk down and clapped her hands. "Okay everyone, I have a very special announcement..."The whole class went silent, hanging on her every word. "Today, we are all going on a field trip to the Beijing Zoo!" she exclaimed. The room exploded with cheers and shrieks of joy. Some kids were so excited they started running around the classroom. I just sat there in shock, unable to believe our good fortune.Ms. Wang had to calm everyone down so she could give us all the details. She explained that this was a special reward trip because our class had the highest test scores in the entire grade over the last semester. We had worked so hard, and now we got to have an awesome day at the world-famous Beijing Zoo!The bus pulled up to the school at 10am and we all loaded up, getting more and more amped up with every passing minute. The 30 minute bus ride seemed to take forever. But finally, afterwhat felt like an eternity, we pulled up to the front gates of the Zoo. The entire class gasped in amazement. We followed Ms. Wang through the entrance and immediately saw...penguins! There was a huge outdoor penguin exhibit right inside the front gates. The tuxedo-clad birds waved their wings at us as we walked by. So cool! From there, we meandered through the Zoo, seeing all sorts of incredible animals. We gawked at the huge elephants spraying water from their trunks. We laughed at the funny antics of the monkeys swinging from tree to tree. We admired the massive bears fishing for salmon with their claws. My favorite were the majestic lions - one let out a mighty roar that shook my chest. For lunch, we had a special picnic right in the middle of the Zoo grounds on a beautiful grassy area. Ms. Wang had packed delicious veggie fried rice, dumplings, and fresh fruit for all of us to enjoy. We spent over an hour just relaxing, recapping the amazing animal encounters we had that morning, and recharging for more Zoo adventures. After lunch, we headed over to the reptile house for anup-close look at snakes, lizards, and even alligators! I had never seen so many slithering critters in one place before. While some of my classmates were a little creeped out, I thought the snakeswere so cool how they could climb branches and slither across the ground. We spent the entire afternoon trekking around the massive Zoo grounds. We saw birds of every size, shape, and color in the aviary. Jingjing and I even got to pet and feed a deer in the forest trail area! Every turn led to a new jaw-dropping experience. As the sun started to go down, we all stopped at the Zoo's playground for one last hurrah. We ran around, slid down slides, and swung on swings, squealing with delight. All that walking and animal watching had really tired us out! Finally, it was time to head back to the bus and return to school. I remember sitting on that bus ride back, utterly exhausted but still grinning from ear篇3My Daily Life as a KidHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm a 10-year-old kid living in Beijing. I go to Haidian No. 3 Elementary School which is just a short walk from my home. I want to tell you all about my typical day and what life is like being a young student here in the big city!I wake up pretty early, around 6:30am, because I have to get ready and leave for school by 7:30am. My mom comes into my room and gently shakes me awake. "Time to rise and shine, sleepyhead!" she'll say with a warm smile. I groan a little, but I'm usually happy to get up because I love going to school. After putting on my uniform - navy blue pants and a white polo shirt with our school's emblem on it - I head to the kitchen for breakfast. My dad makes the best jianbing, which are delicious crepe-like wraps filled with eggs, vegetables, and sauce.I scarf one down quick because they're so yummy! Then it's time to grab my backpack and books and head out the door. Our apartment building has so many families, so the sidewalks are crowded with kids and parents in the mornings. I meet up with my best friend Liang at the corner and we walk the rest of the way together, chatting about video games or the latest movies we want to see.The school day starts at 8am sharp. We have to line up by class in the courtyard and sing the national anthem, followed by some patriotic songs and slogans. The loudspeakers boom out with a voice reminding us to be good students and make our parents and teachers proud. It's all very serious!Once inside, we have lessons covering the core subjects like math, Chinese language, English, and science. Everything is taught in a very strict and disciplined way - we must sit up straight, raise our hands to speak, and always show respect to our teachers. My favorite class is English because I'm really good at it and I love learning foreign languages. Math is my worst subject though - those equations make my head spin!We get two short breaks in the morning, a time when everyone rushes outside to run around, play games, and let off some energy. At 11:30am we break for lunch in the cafeteria. The food isn't amazing, but it's not bad either - things like fried rice, veggie dishes, and soup. After lunch there's a little free time where I might play basketball or video games with friends. The afternoon is pretty much the same as the morning with more core classes until 4:30pm. The hour after that until 5:30pm is reserved for extracurricular activities. Twice a week I go to English tutoring to get extra practice. The other days I might do art class, coding, or ping pong club. My parents really pack my schedule! Finally, it's time to head home around 6pm. I'm usually exhausted by then! I'll relax for a bit, have a snack, and watch some TV shows or videos. Dinner is around 7:30pm - my mommakes fantastic home-cooked Chinese dishes like mapo tofu, dumplings, or kung pao chicken. Yum!After dinner it's time for homework and studying. I have to practice writing characters, do reading comprehension worksheets, and solve those dreaded math problems. By 9pm I'm ready to take a bath and go to bed. I pass out pretty quickly from mental fatigue!Weekends are a nice break from the regimented weekday schedule. I sleep in late, play online games with friends, maybe go to the park or see a movie. Sundays are reserved for extra tutoring and study sessions to get ahead for the school week. The life of a kid in Beijing is pretty intense! That's a typical day in my life. Between the long hours at school, intense courseload, and pressures from parents, it can be a tough grind sometimes. But I really do love learning, being with my friends, and challenging myself academically. One day I hope to get into a top university and have a successful career, maybe as a scientist or engineer. For now though, I'll enjoy what's left of my childhood! Thanks for reading about my daily routine. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇4My Thoughts on the English ExamHi there! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. I go to Haidian Elementary School here in Beijing. My older sister Amy just took a really important English exam called the Haidian District High School Entrance Exam. She's in her last year of middle school and wants to go to a good high school next year. The English part of the exam was really hard and she studied a ton for it!I remember when Amy first told me about the exam. It was a few months ago an篇5My Big Adventure Taking the High School Entrance ExamHi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 12 years old. I just took the big high school entrance exam for Beijing last month and I wanted to tell you all about my exciting adventure with it!First of all, I was really nervous getting ready for the exam. All my teachers and parents kept telling me how important it was to study hard and do well. They said getting into a good high school would help me get into a top university later on. No pressure, right? Ha!I spent months and months preparing. My days were full of extra English, math, Chinese and science lessons after regular school. I had so much homework every night. Sometimes I didn't get to play outside or watch TV shows until really late. But I knew it was important to work hard, so I tried my best. When the exam week finally arrived in June, I could hardly sleep the night before the first test day. My stomach was all in knots thinking about how difficuit the exams might be. What if I forgot everything I studied? What if I failed? I was so worried! The first exam day was the English exam for the Haidian district. I am pretty good at English usually, but I had heard this test was really hard. I double and triple checked that I had plenty of pencils, erasers, a calculator and my admission ticket before leaving home. My mom made me a nice big breakfast to give me energy. Then we headed off bright and early to my exam site - Haidian No. 3 High School. There were so many students there, all looking just as nervous as me! We had to get there super early to go through security checks and get seated in the exam room. I was shaking a little as I found my desk and sat down. The exam proctors kept reminding us to double check we had nur required supplies and nothing else on our desks. No cheating allowed! Finally, after what felt like forever, they told us to start the exam. I took a deep breath and began bubbling in my name and details on the answer sheet. Here we go!The English exam had four sections - listening, reading, grammar/vocabulary, and writing. I won't go into all the details, but I'll give you the highlights. The listening part was pretty tough. We had to listen to recordings of conversations or lectures and answer comprehension questions. The audio quality wasn't great and the speakers talked quite fast with hard vocabulary. I missed a few due to the poor audio.Next up was the reading section which had a few different passages we had to read and answer questions about. There were articles about science topics likeCRISPR gene editing, as well as opinion pieces discussing social issues. Some of the vocabulary and idioms were really advanced! I just tried my best to break down the difficult sentences. The grammar and vocabulary part was rough too. We had to correctly use phrases in sentences, identify errors, and know tons of GRE-level vocab words. I could tell this part was going to hurt my score a bit. Finally, the writing section! This is what I had been waiting for as I'm a decent writer. We had two tasks - a short email responding to a situation, and a longer essay. The essay prompt was something like "In the age of machine translation, is it still important for students to learn foreign languages? Discuss."I planned out my essay quickly, came up with my key points, and got to writing. I argued that while machine translation is helpful, it can't fully replace human translators. Language learning also exposes you to different cultures and modes of thinking. It stretches your brain! I wrapped up my essay feeling pretty good about it.After what felt like an entire day but was really just a few hours, the English exam was over. Phew! My brain was fried. But there was no time to rest because I still had the math, science, and Chinese exams to look forward to later that week and next. Yay...Those tested my skills in different ways. The math one involved a lot of tricky word problems and math reasoning. For science, we had to analyze data from experiments and understand scientific concepts. Chinese was a mixture of reading comprehension, writing, and testing our mastery of idioms and classical Chinese.By the end of it all, I was exhausted! I could hardly remember how to speak, let alone ace an exam. I rewarded myself by taking a nap and then hanging out with friends for the first time in months. Hopefully all that hard work paid off!A couple weeks later, our scores came out online. I was shaking opening up the website, afraid to look. But when I saw my scores...I had done it! My English score was in the top 10% for Haidian, and my overall score was good enough to get into my top choice high school, Haidian No. 1 High!My parents were overjoyed and took me out for a huge fancy dinner to celebrate. All those late nights and stressful moments were worth it in the end. High school, here I come! That's my story about conquering the gaokao for you. It was an incredibly tough few months, but I Made it through by studying hard, staying focused, and most importantly, believing in myself. I'm so excited to start this new high school chapter. Wish me luck!篇6My Big Day Taking the High School ExamHi! My name is Xiaoming and I'm in 6th grade. Today I'm going to tell you all about the big important test I took last month to try to get into a really good high school in Beijing. It was the 2022 High School Entrance Exam for Haidian District. Haidian is the best district in Beijing with the best schools, so the exam was super hard. But I studied really hard and I think I did pretty well! The exam had four main sections - Chinese, Math, English, and Comprehensive Ability. Chinese and Math were pretty normal subjects we learn in school. But Comprehensive Ability was a new section testing out how good we are at thinking, analyzing information, and solving problems. It was kind of like critical thinking I guess. The English section was incredibly difficult too. Let me tell you all about it!For the English exam, we had to do reading comprehension, cloze passage, grammar, vocabulary, and writing. The reading comprehension had four long passages we had to read and then answer detailed questions about. The passages were about science, history, culture, and environment topics. The vocabulary questions gave us words and we had to pick the right definition or synonym from four choices. There were 20 vocabulary questions in total. Then there was the cloze passage, which was a huge pain! For this, they gave us a passage with 20 blanks and we had to select the right word from a box to fill in each blank. The words were things like prepositions, transition words, idioms, and other grammar words. It was so tricky trying to figure out which word fit each blank based on the context. My brain was spinning by the end! After that torture was the writing section, where we had to write an essay of 120-180 words. The topic was "If you could travel back in time, what era would you visit and why?" I chose to write about going back to ancient Greece during the Golden Age of philosophers like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. I thought it would be amazing to learn from those great thinkers directly! For the grammar section, we had to identify errors in sentences and correct them. Things like verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, article usage, and more. It took a lot of concentration. By the time I finished the English exam, my head was pounding! I definitely felt like I had used every ounce of my brain power. While I was waiting to start the Comprehensive Ability section, I could finally relax my mind a bit. I ate a snack and drank some water to re-energize. The Comprehensive section involved reading passages and analyzing graphics like charts or diagrams. Then we had to answer questions that tested out our logical thinking abilities to interpret the information. There were some tricky logic puzzles too, like giving us a set of conditions and constraints and we had to figure out the solution that satisfied all the rules. It made my brain sweat just thinking about it again! By。
