The Traffic in the City Is Getting Worse Nowadays, with the developing of our economy, the traffic in our city is getting worse. Traffic jams happen almost everyday.
Why traffic in the city is getting worse? In my opinion, it is because more and more people are moving into the major cities and industrial centers, cars are becoming necessity of almost every household. Usually, people think that driving cars are much safer than some other ways such as bicycling or walking in the crowed streets. People use cars as a convenient way to go to long-distant places, thus they save time. People also regard cars as a symbol of high wages or and status, or a way of showing fashion. Besides, there are some people who buy cars just because of their car passion. They love cars from hearts.
Because of those reasons above, more and more cars appear in the roads. Then traffic congestion becomes the order of the day. Traffic congestion not only creates headaches for commuters, but also reduces productivity by taking away valuable time from work. And people’s schedules change, which may cause the changing of their life. There will be more people complaining about this problem. Some of them may even go crazy. On the other hand, there is pollution caused by traffic congestion. This will affect peoples’health. What a serious problem it is! This sickness that plagues our
cities must be at least put under control, if not cured.
As for the solution to this problem, some people advocate that more roads be built to accommodate the increase in traffic, while others think that enlarging the capacity of public transit systems: buses, subway, trains, etc is the answer. Anyway, those are available ways.
In my opinion, government including national government, provincial government and local government must play an important role in kicking this problem. On one hand, they should cooperate to control the prices of cars and improve the technology of their country to develop electric or solar cars. On the other hand, if possible, I think building an extensive subway system can be the ideal answer, but that is very expensive. My personal view is that for cities that have plenty of unused land, more roads should be built. Having special lanes reserved for bicycles and motorcycles should encourage more people to use bicycles and motorcycles instead of cars. As a long-term solution, extensive subway, or surface monorail systems should be built for all the major cities.。
