Vertical Mount Cables
Vertical carriers may have a maximum of 64 I/O interfaces just like the horizontal carriers. This requires eight vertical carriers plugged together, end-to-end requiring, 176 inches (14.7 ft) of vertical space; significantly more space than a cabinet installation would allow. A typical cabinet installation is shown above with five carriers. The layout provides the flexibility of multiple vertical carriers in a cabinet with space for cable trays. Used above is one 4-Wide Top Carrier, three Left I/O Carriers and two Right I/O Carriers. An important component for this installation is the Top and Bottom extender cables. Two extender cables are available. Bottom Cable Extender (Left carrier to Right carrier, 1 Meter in length) Top Cable Extender (Right carrier to Left carrier, 2 Meters in length) Note: Top and Bottom cables are not interchangeable; the pin outs are different for I/O Card electrical addressing. Top and Bottom refers to the cables’ exit point in the Dshell connector; Top exits to the top of cabinet while Bottom exits to the bottom of cabinet. Note: I/O addressing is determined by cable connections.
