Laojun Mountain is a famous scenic area with over 2,500 years of history. It's known as one of the birthplaces of Taoism and has tons of amazing temples, grottoes, and natural sights. I had an awesome time exploring this incredible mountain! The first stop was the Xiaozhi Scenic Area at the base of the mountain. Just walking through the ancient buildings made me feel like I had traveled back in time.Next, we took a cable car up to the top of Laojun Mountain. The ride was so much fun with amazing views over the valleys and peaks below. At the top, we visited the Daxiong Baodian which is a huge Taoist temple. It's over 1,300 years old but it's been rebuilt and renovated over the centuries. The architecture was breathtaking with all the detailed carvings, painted beams, and iconic curved roofs. One of the coolest parts was walking through the Shifting Cloud Valley. As we walked along the winding path, the clouds would shift between the cliffs giving it an ethereal, mystical vibe. It was like something out of a fantasy movie! We also explored the Qingyun Valley which had a different kind of beauty. This valley was lush and green with waterfalls and streams running between the mountains. We walked along the nature trails passing by ancient grottoes and temples built right into the cliffs. But it's not just the size that makes Laojun Mountain so incredible – it's also the stunning scenery and historical significance. As you start climbing up the mountain, you'll notice that it's covered in lush green trees and bushes. Some of the formations even look like animals or people, and the locals have given them all sorts of awesome names like "Elephant Trunk Rock" and "Fairy Delivering a Baby."As you explore the mountain, you'll also come across loads of ancient temples and shrines. Some of them are over 1,000 years old and were built to honor famous Taoist philosophers and deities. My name is Lily, and I'm a middle school student from Luoyang, China. I recently went on an amazing trip to Lao Jun Mountain, which is a famous scenic area right here in my city. Let me tell you all about this incredible place!Lao Jun Mountain has a really long history that goes back over two thousand years. It's named after an ancient Taoist philosopher called Lao Zi, who is said to have lived and written his famous book "Tao Te Ching" on this very mountain. Can you imagine how cool that is? Walking the same paths as a great thinker from so long ago篇6My Awesome Trip to Lao Jun MountainHi everyone! I'm going to tell you all about my super cool trip to Lao Jun Mountain. It's this famous mountain in Luoyang, which is a city in the Henan province of China. My family and I went there last summer and it was so much fun!First of all, getting to Lao Jun Mountain was already an adventure. We took a really long bus ride from our town, and I got to see so many different villages and farms out the window. When we finally arrived in Luoyang city, I was amazed by how big and busy it was compared to where I live. There were huge buildings, crowded streets, and people everywhere! But we didn't stay in the city for long. We hopped into a taxi and drove out to the area near Lao Jun Mountain. As we got closer, the buildings turned into trees and greenery. I could see the huge mountain rising up in the distance, and I got really excited.Lao Jun Mountain is famous for a few reasons. First, it has over 2,000 years of history! Can you believe people have been visiting this mountain for that long? It was an important place for Taoism, which is an ancient Chinese philosophy and religion. Many Taoist temples and buildings were built on the mountain over the centuries. The other really cool thing about Lao Jun Mountain is all the natural scenery. It's covered in lush green forests with hiking trails weaving everywhere. There are waterfalls, caves, rock formations, and amazing viewpoints where you can see for miles around. My favorite was the Huanzhang Waterfall - the water crashed down over 60 meters! So powerful and beautiful. When we first arrived at the mountain entrance, I was a little overwhelmed because it's such a huge area. Thankfully, my dad had studied up on Lao Jun Mountain ahead of time so he knew just where to take us. Our first stop was the Grotto Temple area. The Grotto Temple is this vast series of caves and grottos carved right into the mountainside by ancient Buddhist monks many centuries ago. As we walked through the dimly lit caverns, I felt like I had traveled back in time. The walls were covered in carvings of Buddha statues and symbols. Some caverns even had entire Buddhist temples built inside them - crazy! After exploring the Grotto Temple, we went hiking on one of the mountain trails. Now let me tell you, the hike was no joke! The path kept going up and down over steep hills. My legs were so tired by the end. But it was worth it for the amazing scenerywe got to see - dense bamboo forests, bubbling streams, and gorgeous viewpoints looking out over the valleys and peaks.About halfway through our hike, we stopped for a picnic lunch. My mom had packed tons of delicious Chinese snacks like savory pancakes, boiled eggs, and my favorite - bing tanghulu (those yummy candied hawthorn berries on a stick). Eating outside in the fresh mountain air made the food taste even better. After refueling with lunch, we kept hiking until we reached the Xianchi Lake area. This was definitely my favorite part! Xianchi is a huge, beautiful lake that looks like it came straight out of a painting. The water was the most brilliant shades of green and blue. We walked along the shoreline and stopped to skip rocks and dip our feet in the cool, refreshing water. While we were at the lake, we also visited the XianchiBio-Garden next door. This was an enormous botanical garden with every type of plant and flower you can imagine - cherry trees, bamboo forests, bonsai trees, koi fish ponds, and more. It felt like being lost in a jungle of vibrant greenery. We probably could have spent an entire day just exploring that garden! As the sun started to set, we took a cable car up to the highest point of Lao Jun Mountain to get one final amazing viewbefore heading home. From up there, we could see the entire mountain range stretching out below us in a sea of lush green peaks. The sunset colors of orange, pink, and purple reflecting off the valley were just breathtaking. On the bus ride home, I was exhausted from all the hiking and sightseeing, but so happy. Lao Jun Mountain was easily one of the coolest places I've ever visited. The ancient history, beautiful nature, and fun activities combined to create the perfect adventure. If you ever get a chance to go to Lao Jun Mountain, you have to take it! Just be prepared to walk...a lot. But trust me, it's worth feeling like a bundle of sore noodles at the end of the day. Getting to experience a place with thousands of years of culture and history was simply awesome. Maybe I'll even become a hiker or mountain explorer when I grow up!。

Luoyang is also the hometown of many of thescientific inventions of ancient China, such as the seismograph, armillary sphere, paper making, printing and the compass.Luoyang has rich historical and cultural sites. The Longmen Grottoes are one of Chinas three most precious treasure houses of stone sculptures and inscriptions. The White Horse Temple is the first Buddhist temple and is honored as the Cradle of Buddhism in China. Mt. Mangshan is where ancient tombs of emperors, nobles and literates in the past dynasties collected. The Luoyang Ancient Tombs Museum is the worlds first example of the kind and presents thousands of treasures discovered in the tombs. Over 500 years renovation and expansion have created the prestigious world cultural site. The most significant chiseling activities happened in the Tang and North Wei Dynasties, which lasted over 150 years.Spanning a length of around 1 kilometer on the hillside along the Yihe River, the niches resemble dozens of honeycombs dotting the area. There are about 2.100 grottoes and niches, over 40 crematory urns, 3,600 inscribed stone tablets and over100,000 Buddhist images and statues. The largest one is 17 meters high while the smallest is a tiny as 2 cm. One third of the complex are works of the North Wei Dynasty. These masterpieces are the Binyang Cave, and Lianhua( Lotus Cave). The impressive Qianxi Temple, Fengxian Temple, Wanfo Cave( Ten Thousand Buddhist Cave) are the highlights of the Tang Dynasts carvings. The Longmen Grottos are of great value in world sculpture history and it has been listed in the World Cultural Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Laojun Mountain. Laojun refers to Laozi, the founder of Taoism. It is said he lived here in seclusion in his late years, and the mountain was named after him.The first place we will visit today is the Toaism Culture Garden. The Garden is 100 thousand square meters, it is an important place to inherit and promote Taoism Culture.Taoism's origins may be traced to prehistoric Chinese religions in China. The founder of Taoism is traditionally regarded as Laozi who lived around 5 century BC, during the Spring and Autumn Period. Laozi is the pinyin for the Chinese characters which mean "Old Master."TheTaoTeChingisafoundationalscriptureof Taoism, writtenbyLaozi. The time Laozi lived was a time of warfare and conflict. He was reflecting on a way which would stop the warfare. He found that if humanity was taken, the conflict would end. Thus, he wrote a few pages of short verses, which became the TaoTe Ching. The Chinese character Tao literally means "path" or "way", but in Chinese religion and philosophy it means “essential nature”,“destiny”, “principle”, or “true path”. Taoism emphasizes Three Treasures of Tao: namely, humanity, moderation, and humility. It also focuses on “wu wei”(an action that does not involve struggle or excessive effort), spontaneity(自发性), and emptiness. Taoism believes that the link between human and nature lessened the need for rules and order, and leads one to a better understanding of the world. These traditions and concepts not only influenced East Asia but also some other countries in the world.OK, ladies and gentlemen, keep moving please. The magnificent statue in front of us is the statue of Laozi. It is 59 meters high and weighs 360 tons which is the largest bronze statue of Laozi in the world. Look at the statue, please! The bamboo slip in his right hand is the Tao Te Ching, the classic of Taoism. And his left hand points to the heaven, which means to pursue the truth of the universe.Ladies and gentlemen, now we arrived at the top of the Laojun Mountain. This place is called South Heaven Gate, because it is so high that it seems it will touch the heaven. The building on this platform is the Laojun Temple. It was originally built in North Wei Dynasty and rebuilt for many times. The present temple was built in the 2004. The building in front is called “Jin ding tai qing guan”, Jinding in Chinese means bright sunlight, Taiqing refers to the place where Gods live. This temple is enshrined with the statue of Laozi and some other Gods who deserve to be worshiped. The building in the back is used to store the holly scriptures. At either side there is a peak. The peak in the east is called Liangbaotai. It is said this is the place for Laojun to show his treasures. The peak in the west is called Yuhuangding, a place to worship the Jade Emperor who is the Supreme Deity of Taoism.Alright everyone, now we are at the Stone Forest of Laojun Mountain. This Stone Forest belongs to the Submarine volcano rock and Volcano sedimentary rock series. It is relatively young granite formed between 140 million and 80 million years ago. It is named “Laojun Mountain Rock Mass” by the geologists in China. And it is the largest granite Stone Forest in the world so far.
