One of the most significant impacts of the internet is on higher education. Online courses have become increasingly popular, allowing students to learn from the comfort of their own homes, at their own pace, and from a diverse range of instructors worldwide. This change has raised several debates in educational circles, with some arguing in favor of the benefits and others concerned about potential drawbacks. Many enthusiasts of online education point out that it offers flexibility, allowing students to juggle other commitments more easily. For instance, working professionals can now attend college-level courses while continuing their jobs. Moreover, online courses often feature interactive elements such as discussion forums and video conferencing, which can enhance the learning experience. However, critics argue that the absence of face-to-face interaction can lead to feelings of isolation and less effective learning. They also note that the quality of online instruction cannot always be guaranteed, as there is no standardized quality control in place. The following passage is a response to the above debate.Question:Read the following paragraph and then answer the question by choosing the best answer (A), (B), (C), (D), or (E).While some argue that online education provides a more convenient and accessible way of learning, others contend that it lacks the personal touch necessary for effective teaching and learning. This discrepancy in opinion canbe attributed to several factors. First, the personalized approach to learning in traditional settings, such as the classroom, enables students to receive individualized attention and support from instructors. Second, the collaborative nature of face-to-face interactions fosters a sense of community and creates a conducive environment for learning.
2.★available:

Farms Appear in CitiesWhen you hear the word “farm”, you may imagine the countryside with cows and crops. But scientists say the farms of the future could be built in tall buildings in some large cities. It may be difficult to believe, but in fact, the technology for growing crops in doors already exists. Farming in the city is already happening. Some vegetables are already grown in greenhouses. Even the scientists at the South Pole research station can enjoy fresh vegetables they grow in their own greenhouse.Experts say indoor farming solves many problems. First, traditional farming takes up a lot of land. Growing crops in tall buildings — called vertical farming(垂直农业)— can solve the problem. Also, fruits and vegetables grown indoors would not face serious threats from insects and weather.Thou gh vertical farms don’t exist yet, experts have created a plan for recycling in such farms. The water from indoor fish ponds would be used to water crops. Gases from crop waste would be used to heat the building. Waste from chicken or pigs would be reused as a source of energy. But experts believe vertical farming is not going to be easy. They say it can be difficult to control climate conditions indoors. Besides, Plants differ in their weather and lighting needs. For example, some plants like warm, sunny weather, but other plants prefer cooler temperatures. That’s not to say these difficulties won’t be overcome —but it will take time. Most experts suggest it may take about 5 to 15 years before the first vertical farms could be created.【参考译文】农场出现在城市里(城中农场)当听到“农场”一词,你可能联想到乡下的母牛和庄稼等等。
