Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.Global average air temperature near the Earth's surface rose 0.74 ±0.18 °C (1.3 ±0.32 °F) during the past century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes, "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations," which leads to warming of the surface and lower atmosphere by increasing the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes have probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950, but a cooling effect since 1950. The basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least 30 scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is the only scientific society that rejects these conclusions, and a few individual scientists also disagree with parts of them.Climate models referenced by the IPCC project that global surface temperatures are likely to increase by 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) between 1990 and 2100. The range of values reflects the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions and results of models with differences in climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a millennium even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized. This reflects the large heat capacity of the oceans.。
大学英语演讲globalwarming(一)Global Warming: Threats and SolutionsLadies and gentlemen, today I want to talk to you about a topic that affects us all: global warming. As we all know, global warming refers to the increase in average global temperatures over time. While it may seem like a distant problem, the fact is that global warming affects us all, from the air we breathe to the water we drink and the food we eat. In my speech, I will discuss the threats posed by global warming, as well as some of the solutions we can implement to combat it.Firstly, let's talk about the threats. Perhaps the most pressing threat posed by global warming is the increase in extreme weather events. These include droughts, heatwaves, floods and hurricanes, all of which have become more frequent and severe in recent years. These events not only cause significant damage to property and infrastructure but pose a very real threat to human life. Additionally, global warming increases the risk of wildfires, which have also become more common and severe in many parts of the world.Another significant threat is the impact on ecosystems. As temperatures rise, ecosystems are becoming unbalanced, risking the extinction of thousands of species. This is due, in part, to changes in temperature, weather patterns, and ocean acidity levels, all of which are caused by globalwarming. These changes are disrupting the food chain, which can have devastating long-term effects on many species. Now, let's focus on the solutions. There are several ways we can combat global warming. One of the most effective approaches is to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. This can be achieved by increasing the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower. By doing this, we can reduce our carbon emissions, which are one of the main contributors to global warming.Another way to combat global warming is to promote sustainable lifestyles. This means reducing waste, conserving energy, and adopting environmentally friendly habits. Governments can play a crucial role in promoting sustainable lifestyles by investing in public transportation and encouraging sustainability in businesses. Finally, it's also important to raise awareness of global warming and its consequences. By educating ourselves and others, we can inspire change and motivate people to take action to help protect our planet. In conclusion, global warming is a serious threat thataffects us all. It poses significant risks to our health, our environment, and our economies. However, we can take action to combat it. By reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, adopting sustainable lifestyles, and raising awareness, we can help protect our planet and ensure a better future for generations to come. Thank you.。
The Fight Against Global WarmingSince our society has entered into a new century,at the same time,we human beings also meet with a dilemma. Can we develop economy at the cost of environment? On the one hand,Due to the economic development,it has provided numerous job opportunities, which has also improved living conditions and increases governmentrevenues,However,on the other hand, the present serious environmental problems are largely caused by rapid development of economic.Heavy use of energy to enhance the human material, which caused unexpected disasters, and acid rain damage almost all over the world great plants and so on.Then, let me take global warming for example. What is global warming? Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since themid-20th century and its projected continuation . According to the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global surface temperature increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C(1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the 20th century .In nearly 100 years, the average global temperature goes through four fluctuations: cold, warm, cold again, and warm again. After 1980s, the temperature was ascending obviously. What caused global warming? It is caused by several factors. First, the wide use of coal and fuel, which causes the emission of carbon dioxide, the main gases that lead to greenhouse effect.Second, populationexplosion is one of the main factors of global warming; it also threatens the balance between man and nature. Third, atmospheric pollution is being on the rise, and it has already become an international major problem. It is also the basic problem of global warming. Forth, marine ecology and environment took a turn for the worse. That may lead to the damage of fresh water resources. Fifth, the forest resources are sharply decreased by natural changes and human actions. What are the negative effects caused by global warming? This serious environmental problem generates amount of destructive effects to the e ntire planet: ice melting, climate change, animals and plants’ extinction, and threat of human society. Primarily, as the temperature increases, ice melting is regard as the most intractable issue. Melting of ice raises the sea level. In addition, as a result of ice melting, landscape also transforms. Meanwhile, global warming also causes climate change to bring about many other awful effects such as more destructive storms, more fire disaster and more intense droughts. The second effect of global warming is to make many animals and plants endangered. Considerable data verified that more than 200 native plant species in the United States have gone extinct; more than 760 plant species in the U.S. are federally listed as endangered or threatened and 20 percent of our native plant species are in decline and on a conservation watch list.As same as plants, there are also many endangered animals generating which are imputableto global warming, such as Polar bears. Some scientists believe the Polar bears in Alaska would become extinct in 50 years' time. These data warn us that we call for paying effort on survival of species. The last negative effect of global warming is more related to humankind. Global warming will also threaten human society. It will cause the infectious diseases too easy to spread and infect. Bacteria will hard to control through fast breeder reactor, and threat our lives. The house will be eroded by destructive insects and it may lead a vagrant life eventually. What’s more, global warming impedes outdoor activities. Some outside entertainment sports such as skiing and snowboard will be influenced by ice melting and climate change. So,you can see,it is high time that we took measures to protect our sole planet.First,Governments are the main force in the combat against global warming. On the issues concerning global warming, the variety of attitudes toward global warming is a greatest obstacle for us to win this combat. So, at first, all the countries must reach an agreement on striking a balance between developing economy and solving this environmental problem. Then, some effective policies should be adopted to reduce the emission of the greenhouse gases.Second,Common people's involvements are the key to ease the global warming. One persons ability is slight, but if every one can make a little effort, there can be a big difference. What can we do for it? I think first, we can learn something about globalwarming, to be aware of it and to know our responsibilities to this planet. In addition, we can should not to make greenhouse gases, specifically, to take bus or ride bicycle instead of driving private car.Third, the most important one,we should reduce the use of traditionalresources, instead,we should explore the new resources,in other words, what we called renewable resources, which includes solar energy, wind energy, water energy and other clean energy. If we human beings can make joint effort to take care of this planet.I think global warming will certainly be solved in the near future.。
Global warming英文作文Global warming is a serious issue that we need to address urgently. The Earth's temperature is rising, and this is causing a range of problems that affect us all.One of the most significant impacts of global warming is the melting of the polar ice caps. As the ice melts, sea levels rise, which can lead to flooding and the destruction of coastal communities. This is a major concern, asmillions of people around the world live in areas that are vulnerable to rising sea levels.Another consequence of global warming is the increase in extreme weather events. We are seeing more frequent and severe hurricanes, droughts, and heatwaves, which can have devastating effects on communities and ecosystems. These events can also cause economic damage, as businesses and infrastructure are impacted.Global warming is also affecting wildlife andecosystems. As temperatures rise, many species are struggling to adapt to the changing conditions. This can lead to declines in populations, and in some cases, even extinction. The loss of biodiversity is a significant concern, as it can have cascading effects on ecosystems and the services they provide. The root cause of global warming is the release of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun, leading to a warming of the Earth's surface. To address this issue, we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions through a range of measures, including transitioning to renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and implementing policies to reduce emissions from industry and transportation. In conclusion, global warming is a complex and urgent issue that requires action from individuals, businesses, and governments around the world. By taking steps to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and address the impacts ofglobal warming, we can work towards a more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.。
大学英语作文Global warmingGlobal warmingWith the rapid growth of economy, people’s living standard has greatly improved. But due to irrational mode of economic growth, many environmental problems also have been brought into focus among the general public, especially global warming.Global warming is the observed and projected increases in the average temperature of earth’s atmosphere and oceans .The 20th century ended with an average global temperature that was 0.6 degrees Celsius higher than the start of the century .This increase in average global temperature was the largest of any century over the last 1000 years . The causes for global warming are varied .they include natural and human factors. Perhaps the main cause is human factors . Firstof all ,the rapid increase of population over the world has a significant impact on global temperature .As we know, not only people’s breath release carbon dioxide but also explosive population would occupy more energies and resources .Second ,so many trees have been cut down by human beings which can’t catch up with the recycle of trees that result in great decrease of forest coverage and weaken the ability of trees to absorb carbon dioxide. In addition, people use many baneful burning material that let out greenhouse gases and this contribute to the damage to the atmospheric environment . The effects of global warming are tremendous and profound, such as the sea-level rise ,the change of human economic structure ,extreme climate and so on .In view of this ,it is time put an immediate end to the undesirable situation .We can use solar energy ,develop alternative energy sources to replace the stuffs that exhaust greenhouse gases and use other environmental-friendly energy. In a word ,we should shift from extensive economy to intensive economy and advocate a clean ,low carbon dioxide life style .。

Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans, The climate system can respond to changes in external forcing. External forcings can "push" the climate in the direction of warming or cooling. Examples of external forcings include changes in atmospheric composition.
The first, the greenhouse effect is the process by which absorption and emission of infrared radiation by gases in the atmosphere warm a planet's lower atmosphere and surface. The second, Global dimming, a gradual reduction in the amount of global direct irradiance at the Earth's surface. The main cause of this dimming is particulates produced by volcanoes and human made pollutants, which exerts a cooling effect by increasing the reflection of incoming sunlight. The third, Solar variations causing changes in solar radiation energy reaching the Earth have been the cause of past climate changes.
Climate change is changing our economy, healthy and communities in diverse ways. The climate change will have a significant impact on the sustainability of water supplies in the coming decades, one third of all countries will face higher risks of water shortages. Climate change is one of the most serious public health threas facing the nation. Warming climate is causing more of these extreme weather events.
We have many ways to solve the climate change. For example, countries should set limits on global warming pollution, invest in green job and clean energy. We could drive smarter cars, live in the green building.。
