The Green Ambassadors

Last week in English class, we read a really interesting article

about some students who call themselves the "Green

Ambassadors." They are a group of kids from different countries

who came together because they really care about protecting

the environment.

The article said the Green Ambassadors were started back in

2007 by a 12-year-old girl named Kehkashan Basu from the

United Arab Emirates. Kehkashan was worried about how much

pollution and waste was harming our planet. She didn't want to

just sit back and do nothing, so she got some of her friends

together and they formed their own environmental club.

At first it was just Kehkashan and a couple other kids from

her school in Dubai. But then through the internet and social

media, they started connecting with more students around the

world who felt the same way about saving the Earth. By 2008 there were Green Ambassador members from over 20 different

nations!

The article talked about all the amazing projects and

activities the Green Ambassadors have done over the years to

raise awareness and make a difference. Some of the things

they've done include:

• Organizing beach and park clean-ups to pick up litter

• Planting trees and gardens in their communities

• Giving presentations at schools about environmental issues

• Starting recycling programs

• Writing letters to government leaders about climate

change

• Using art and music to inspire people to go green

What I thought was really cool was how the Green

Ambassadors use social media like Facebook, Twitter, and

YouTube to share their message and get more kids involved. On

their websites, they have tons of free resources like lesson plans,

activity ideas, and tips for how youth can live a more eco-friendly

lifestyle. The article said that over the past 15 years, the Green

Ambassadors have grown into a massive network with over

200,000 young members from almost every country in the world!

Just by reading about them, I felt motivated to do my part.

After we finished the reading, our teacher asked us what we

could do to become Green Ambassadors ourselves and protect

the environment. One student suggested we could start a

recycling program at our school for bottles, cans, and paper.

Another idea was to organize a community clean-up day where

we go pick up trash around our neighborhood.

I really liked the idea of using art and music like the Green

Ambassadors do. Maybe we could make some informative

posters or videos to teach our friends and families about

important issues like saving energy, reducing plastic use, and

preserving wildlife habitats. Art is a fun way to get people's

attention and inspire them.

Personally, I think I'd like to start small by doing simple

things at home first. The article mentioned how we can make a

difference just by turning off lights when leaving a room, taking

shorter showers, and saying no to single-use plastics like straws

and bags. If every family did those few basic steps, it would go a

long way! I was also really interested to learn more about the different

environmental careers and jobs people can have that would

allow me to be an ambassador for the Earth when I grow up.

Some possibilities they mentioned were working as a marine

biologist, renewable energy engineer, environmental lawyer,

park ranger, or sustainability consultant. I could see myself being

happy in a job like that where I get to protect nature and speak

up for important causes every day.

Reading that article made me realize that even though I'm

still just a kid, it's never too early

My Unforgettable Adventure

Once upon a time, I read a fascinating story about a magical

forest in my English book. It was about a group of brave kids who

discovered a hidden portal that led them to a world full of

wonders. The story ended with a cliffhanger, leaving me

wondering what would happen next. So, I decided to continue

the story myself!

In the next chapter, the kids stepped through the portal with

excitement and found themselves in a breathtaking meadow.

The grass was so green and soft, it felt like walking on fluffy clouds. Colorful butterflies fluttered around them, and the air

was filled with the sweet scent of flowers.

As they explored further, they stumbled upon a talking

rabbit named Benny. Benny had a mischievous grin on his face

and offered to be their guide through the magical forest. The

kids, curious and eager for adventure, gladly accepted his offer.

Benny led them deeper into the forest, where they
