一.整体设计思路
Ⅰ.The analysis of the text.
The lesson is chosen from New Senior English for China Student’s Book3 Unit 1 Festivals around the
world. The reading passage titled FRSTIVALS AND CELEBRATIONS, which describes the origins of most
ancient festivals and then four different kinds of festivals that are celebrated in most parts of the world.
Ⅱ.The analysis of students,
The students in this period are at the second term of grade one in senior high school. Most students have
got basic learning skills concerning listening, speaking, reading and writing. In this class, students are
encouraged to look at the subtitles and the pictures to guess what the text might
be about. And then students read the text by using basic reading skills such as scanning and skimming. At the
end of the class, students can share their favorite festivals and tell the reasons using the words and phrases we
learnt in this lesson.

1. Students can talk about the types and origins of different festivals.
2. Students can talk about their favorite festivals.
三.教学重难点

1. Students can summarize the main idea and find out detailed information by scanning and skimming.
2. Students can learn more about different types of festivals.
