Traditional Chinese Medicine refers to the range of medical practices that were used initially in Mongolia. The practices have developed over several thou sand years. It has it’s origin in the ancient Taoist philosophy that the processes of the human body are interrelated and constantly interact with the environment. Not only is the human body an organic whole, but it is also a unified entity within nature, so changes in the natural environment may directly or indirectly affect it. Changes in the four seasons, and the alterations of the day and night may change the functional condition of the human body, while various geographical environments can influence differencesin body constitution, and so on. The theory looks for the signs of disharmony in the external and internal environment of a person in order to understand, treat, and prevent illness and disease. Yin and Yang represent two opposite aspects of every object. Yin and Yang constantly interact with each other. They rely on each other for existence, and neither can exits by itself. TCM holds that human life is physiological process in constant motion and change. Under normal conditions, the waxing and waning of Yin and Yang are kept within certain bounds, reflecting a dynamic balance of the physiological process. When the balance is broken, disease occurs. TCM is largely based on the philosophical concept that the human body is a small universe with a set of complete and sophisticated interconnected systems. Thesesystems usually work in balance to maintain the healthy function of the human body The Yin and Yang and Five Element Theories can be applied to a variety of systems other than the Human Body. Zang Fu, Meridian, and San Jiao theories are more specific to the human body.. Yin and Yang are complimentary opposites rather than absolute opposites. And, they transform into each other as in Night into Day. The mutual transformation of Yin and Yang is often seen during the development of a disease. For example, if a patient has a constant high fever, which is suddenly lowered, accompanied by a pale complexion, cold limbs, weak pulse, it is said that the disease has transformed from a Yang syndrome into a Yin syndrome. Under this circumstance, proper treatment would be to warm the limbs to make the pulse normal. Tthe Five Elements theory explains the unity of the mutual relationships between the Zang-Fu organs and body tissues as well as between the human body and nature. There are four diagnostic methods to collect data about illness: inspection, listening and smelling, inquiring, and palpatation. Abnormal changes in the function of internal organs and interrelationships can be detected by external appearances. Changes in voice, sense of taste, complexion, pulse, etc. can be used to diagnose disease. The theories of Yin-Yang and the five elements are used together as a guide to clinical diagnosis and treatment. Zang-Fu theory is a concept within traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that describes the。
