Yi, who owns a small business in Changsha, Hunan Province, began his exciting journey in 1994 with a trip to Beijing for his 60th birthda y. “Since then, I’ve been addicted to travel,” he said. “Gradually, I’ve traveled through the whole China.”After a trip to the United States in 2008, which took him on a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, he decided he wanted to see more of the world. He says he has seen penguins in South Africa and toured the attractive rural areas of New Zealand and the Netherlands. He says one of his only regrets is missing out on a submarine(潜水艇) ride in Hawaii. Yet nothing compares with his home province, he added. “ When it comes to natural beauty, there is no place like Zhang Jiajie,” he said. “ It is the best in the world.”Yi’s wife, Zhang Yuqing, 73, supports her husband’s addiction to travel. “I like traveling, too,” she said. “But unfortunately I’m unable to travel abroad after breaking my leg.” The couple plans to visit Russia together once Zhang is fully recovered. They are always reminded of Yi’s exciting experiences, as three walls of their homes are entirely used to display his travel photos. By the door hangs a card that some of Yi’s travelcompanions made for him in case he gets left behind while taking photos. It reads in English: “ I come from Changsha, Hunan Province, China. Got lost traveling and I need help.”25. When has Yi become addicted to travel?A. Since he was very young.B. Since a trip to Beijing for his 60th birthday.C. Since a trip to the United States.D. For breakfast? But the truth is that you can have last night’s leftovers in the a. m. if you want to.I know lots of women who skip breakfast (不吃早餐), and they have a ton of different excuses for doing it. Some say they don’t have time, others think they’re “saving” calories (卡路里), still others just don’t like breakfast food. But the bottom line is that eating in the morning is very important whe n you’re trying to lose weight. “Eating just about anything from 300 to 400 calories would be better than nothing at all,” says Katherine Brooking, R, D, who developed the super-easy eating plan for this year’s “SELF CHALLENGE”. And even pizza can be healthy if it’s loaded with vegetables, and you stick to one small piece.Breakfast is one meal I never miss, and the same goes for most weight loss success stories. Research shows that eating breakfast keeps you from overeating later in the day. Researchers at the University of Southern California found that breakfast skippers have a bigger chance of gaining weight than those who regularly have a morning meal.So eat something in the morning, anything. I know plenty of friends who end up having no breakfast alt ogether, and have just coffee or orange juice. I say, try heating up last night’sleftovers-it may sound crazy, but if it works for you, do it! I find if I tell myself, “You can always eat it tomorrow,” I put away the leftovers instead of eating more that night. Try it...you may save yourself some pre-bedtime calories. And watch your body gain the fat-burning effects.28. The underline word “leftovers” in Paragraph I probably means .A. things left undoneB. food remaining after a mealC. meals made of vegetablesD. pizza topped with fruit29. What can we infer from the text?A. Working women usually have breakfast in a hurry.B. Eating vegetables helps save energy.C. There are some easy ways of cooking a meal.D. Many people have wrong ideas about breakfast.30. According to the last paragraph, it is important to .A. heal up food before eating itB. be careful about what you eatC. eat something for breakfastD. eat calorie-controlled food31. The text is written mainly for those .A. who go to work earlyB. who want to lose weightC. who stay up lateD. who eat before sleepDEverybody loves a good wedding and I’m no exception. I’ve been to a load of them in my native Britain and I must say that I usually have a great time. Most recently I went to one in the mountains of Sardinia and I really enjoyed this one for the differences from those in the UK.First, the two families spent three weeks before the big day preparing all the food, from wonderful home-made delicacies to simple traditional breads and pastas. In my experience, in the UK that hardest task is left to the caterers (承办酒席的人)!This particular ceremony was in a beautiful country church and afterwards the couple was driven to the reception in a wonderfully decorated classic Fiat 500, which was really similar to what happens in the UK. However, the wedding with around 500 guests is much larger. The wine flowed, as did the chatter. There were the five or six courses of wonderful food, screaming kids running wild, the ceremonial cutting of the cake by the bride and groom, but no speeches! Not one. In the UK it’s traditional for the father of the bride to propose (提议) a toast, followed by the groom and finishing up with that of the best man (伴郎). His speech generally has a good laugh at the groom’s expense, but here the groom was spared that particular discomfort.Instead there was a delightful custom which I’d never seen before, in which six or seven of the male guests pass round the hall banging trays, drums, pots, pans that make noise, selling pieces of the groom’s tie which has been cut into tiny bits. The money raised was then given to the happy couple to help them set up their new life together. Finally the evening saw a lot of traditional dancing, a little disco dancing and some karaoke. Pretty much the part I like best.32. How did the author feel about the Sardinian wedding?A. It was expensive.B. It was very strange.C. It was enjoyable.D. It was unpleasant.33. As for the preparations for the wedding, which part demanded the greatest effort?A. The particular ceremony.B. The wedding food.C. The dancing evening.D. The wedding speech.34. What can we infer about the best man’s speech at a tr aditional British wedding?A. It is the best one of all the wedding speeches.B. It is usually very traditional and sounds too flat.C. It is funny but often makes the groom uncomfortable.D. It is more delightful than the Sardinian ceremonial speech.35. Why was the groom’s tie cut into small pieces?A. To entertain the male guests as a wedding game.B. To start the dancing evening as a special ceremony.C. To get money from the guests to pay for the reception.D.
