Cultural differences between westerners and easterners
Due to the various geographical phenomena between east and west, there is no doubt that the characteristics of easterners and westerners are different. In my opinion, these cultural differences exert great influence on world variety instead of hindering the developments of our world.
Easterners and westerners are different in many aspects, such as the way of thinking, the way of live, the relationships between each other and so on. This offers some typical examples of the differences between them.
Firstly, about the way of live, easterners prefer living with their family while westerners prefer living alone. Besides this, westerners usually take shower in the morning, but the easterners are used to taking shower at night. Secondly, refer to the relationships between each other, easterners have a more complicated relationship networks. There is very common in eastern daily life a easterner will happened to find that one of his friends is a friend of his another friends. On the contrary, westerners have a more simple relationship networks, their friend circles are small and uncomplicated. Thirdly, as for the way of thinking, this aspect may be the best able to reflect the differences in east and west. Westerners incline to think directly, they won’t think too much, which lead them to solve the problem directly. Conversely, easterners tend to think complicatedly, they will consider a variety of factors, so it is obviously that easterners is apt to solve the problem indirectly.
As stated in the previous paragraph, there are significant differences in east and west. Among all the differences, collectivism and individualism may be the most prominent distinction. For example, China has always been a community - oriented culture, while American culture is at the opposite position. Collectivism pertains to societies in which people from birth onwards are integrated into strong cohesive in-groups, which throughout people's lifetime continue to protect them in exchange for unquestioning loyalty. Collectivism is widely applied in eastern countries; as a result, easterners are prone to consider other feelings more and are apt to live in a common society. Individualism refers to the behavior of someone who likes to think and do things in their own way, rather than imitating other people.
As we all known, in most of western countries, individualism is in vogue. People’s opinions about these vary from person to person. Some people say that the collectivism is better, while others prefer the individualism.
As far as I am concerned, both collectivism and individualism have their merits and demerits; we shouldn’t simply support one of them. As a saying goes, we should proceed from reality in everything.
The differences have become a hot topic among people. In a conclusion, the differences between east and west are necessary and important to our world’s development. I don’t agree with the one-sided tendentiousness, we need to distinguish them on the basis of practice. Everything has two side, we should correctly deal with the differences in both.。

Cultural Differences between the East and WestAs we all know, the culture in the east and that in the west are very different.In value judgment, easterners hold the value of collectivism while westerners hold the values of individualism. As the way of thinking, western people think more directly, but the eastern people more obliquely. So while solve a problem, westerners would solve it in a quite direct way while easterners would more likely to detour. Meanwhile, easterners would show their emotions and opinion in a more tactful way than westerners who show then out directly. And for mode of life, westerners prefer live by their own while easterners prefer live in groups. When talking about interpersonal relationship, westerners have much more simply interpersonal relationship than easterners. There are still many different aspects in the culture between the east and the west. And among all these, the value of judgment is one of the most obvious and important differences.It is known that easterners hold the value of collectivism while westerners the values of individualism. That is to say, in east, one should put collective interests in the first place. That is because they believe one would not exist without nationality, society, family or other collective; so one is firstly a person in collectives, and then he is himself. Therefore, the view of oneself in the east is tiny. However, in west, one would usually pay more attention to the realization of personal interests, because in their mind, the societies are established on individual. So, unlike eastern countries, theview of self is great in western countries.In the past years, millions of people argue that the collectivism and individualism which one is better. They all had their own points, and as for me, they are all reasonable. In one hand, any one of us is living in the collective, on one can live without collective; and as a member of a collective, it is reasonable and necessary to attach importance to the congregate interests. But it does not necessary mean that we should give up all our rational interests, we still have the rights to pursue them. Only when our own interest against the congregate one, should we put the congregate one in the first place. In the other hand, it is right for the individualism stress the expression of individuality, independence, liberty, competition, and self-achievement.A society should admit individual value, so that, the whole society could exert its vitality absolutely. In a word, from my point of view, these two types of value are all meaningful and have their own pros.There are many differences between east and west. Different cultures add a colorful element to the world. The cultural gap should not be the obstacle to the civilization of human being. It ought to be the motivation of our going farther. Besides, we can not judge which type of culture is better in our own point of view, because all culture exits in its meaningful way: they formed, developed and exited in a specific culture and social environment.。
