I. Teaching Aims:

1. Knowledge Objects:

(1) Master the key words and sentences

a. Key words: rainy, windy, cloudy, snowy, rainy,weather.

Sentences:

— How's the weather ?

= What's the weather like ?

— It's ...

(2) Consolidate the present progressive tense to talk about what people

are doing.

(3) Be able to describe the weather.

2. Ability Objects:

Train students’ ability of listening and speaking. Students can talk

about the weather.

3. Emotion Objects:

A new way of greetings and asking about the weather is quite a

common greeting in western countries.

II. Teaching Important and Difficult Points

1. Important points:

(1) Master the key words and sentences.

(2) Consolidate the present progressive tense to talk about what people

are doing.

(3) Be able to describe the weather.

2. Difficult points:

(1) Consolidate the present progressive tense to talk about what people

are doing.

(2) Improve the Ss’ ability of communicating with each other about the

weather.

III. Teaching Aids

A computer, a blackboard IV. Teaching procedures

Step1. Warm-up

Greet the whole class.

Step2 Presentation

1. Lead-in

Listen to a song, lead-in the new lesson.

2. Show some pictures about the weather , teach the new words: rain,

raingy,windy, cloudy, sunny, snow snowy.

Ask the students the question, “If we want to know about the

weather, how do we ask?” to present the target languages “How’s the

weather? =What's the weather like?” Then show some pictures to

practice.

Step3 Practice

1.Guessing game.

Guess the weather according to the things that Alice takes ,lead to

the five cities in 1b.

2. Teach Activity 1a.

Ask Ss to match each word with one of cities in the picture. Check

the answers.

3. Teach Activity 1b.

Play the tape and get Ss to write the city names in the picture of

its weather. Check the answers.

Play the tape for the second time ,get Ss to fill in the blanks.

4. Pair work .

Let students imagine that they are in one of the places in 1a. Talk

about the weather and what they are doing with their friends on the

phone. Give them several minutes to practice the sentence structure.

Step4. Consolidation

Ask Ss to make weather report according to the picture.Give them

several minutes to practice and then ask some Ss to present their

weather reports .

Step5 Summary

Step5 Homework.

Watch the weather report and write down more than 6 cities’

weather,and then write a weather report .
