Should China abolish death penalty?About the issue of abolishing death penalty, the world has been debated for 200 years. Abolition of death penalty is a significant legal issue and it also is a major social and political issues. And now there is about 40 countries completely abolished death penalty legally around the world, such as Denmark, Holland, German, Switzerland and France. And there are some countries, although they retain death penalty in law, actually they have not put to execution for a long time. In recent years, some countries repeatedly accuse our country killing too many people by death penalty and require our government to abolish it.Here, I have to say, yes, it is a trend to abolish death penalty in the world and there are many countries have done it. But I strongly object to abolish death penalty in spite of the condition of our country. According to our national situation, the conditions to abolish death penalty are not ripe.The policy in our country is to retain death penalty but strict control it. The establishment of this policy has concerned our country’s current development level, the public ideological awareness degree and social security situation.China now is a developing country; the developing of various aspects of the society is not very perfect. The crime rate is very high; and these crimes seriously threaten the security of our people and our society. So we need death penalty to frighten the criminals and maintain social orders. In our country’s current situation, I can’t believe what oursociety will be like if we abolish death penalty. Japan abolished death penalty at one time, but before long it renewed it. Why? Because when its law has no death penalty any more, the criminals were more rampant, which brought about a higher crime rate and the social security became more serious.The death penalty has existed in our country more than 4000 years, kill people pay with life have deeply rooted in our people’s mind. The polls show that most people still against abolishing death penalty.Abolitionists argue that death penalty is cruel, inhuman, and execute the criminals will cause their families great pain. But I have to say, what if you were the victim or the relative of the victim? You will still march to maintain the criminals’ rights? You will feel good to see the criminals alive when he or she should have deserved to die? Or you are kind enough to care about the criminals’ families which are also suffering pain? Should China Loosen its One-child Policy?
With the implementation of the one-child policy in recent decades, China has succeeded in relieving the pressure of population. But it also brings about some problems, such as the population structure changed with the aging population and it results in workforce decreasing and gender imbalance. Therefore, some people suggested that China should loosen the one-child policy to solve these problems. However, I think it is better for China to continue its one-child policy.
The first reason is that if China still goes on with the one-child policy, the government can provide a better environment for the growing children. As we all know, our government will spend a large sum of money on the development of education. The average amount of money that each child can benefit from it will depend on the number of the children. Too many children would make a great pressure to the schools, which lead to big class and reluctance of teacher. With a small amount of students, most of them can share the resources in school and teachers are able to take good care of them both on their studies and lives. The problem that it is hard for
parents to get an enrollment in a good school for their children will never happen again.
The second reason why I agree with the one-child policy is that it is good to the family. Living in a society full of competition, parents need to work exhausted. Facing with the increasing prices, people have no other choice but to spend a large proportion of their income on the living. Moreover, most of them are supposed to pay housing loan every month. It may become another burden if they have the second child. To some extent, too many children will decrease the living standard of a family.
In addition, it would be a big strike to our environment. Every time when the legal festival and the summer or winter vocation is coming, the whole China is suffering from a challenge. All the places of interest are filled with people coming from all parts of China. People will also come across a heavy traffic jam. After the vocation, it will cost the cleaners a lot of time and energy to do the recover job.
For China, a country with more than 130billion people, it will be always necessary for it to carry on with
the one-child policy. As to the aging problem and gender imbalance, we can solve it in other ways, like perfect the society security system and prohibit the behavior of judge the gender of the infant before it gave birth to.。
