名称
奥斯卡金像奖,学院奖(英语:The Academy Award of Merit),通称奥斯卡金像奖、奥斯卡奖或奥斯卡(The Oscars;2013年2月20日起成为正式名称)
“奥斯卡金像奖”的正式名称是“电影艺术与科学学院奖”,英文缩写为AA,1928年设立,每年一次在美国洛杉矶好莱坞举行,半个多世纪一直享有盛誉。
每年的颁奖典礼都会在超过100个国家进行电视直播,其在美国电影界的地位与针对音乐的格莱美奖、针对电视的艾美奖、针对戏剧的托尼奖相当,而这些奖也都是以学院奖为榜样而建立的。
奥斯卡金像奖不仅反映美国电影艺术的发展进程和成就,而且对世界许多国家的电影艺术有着不可忽视的影响。
评选
奥斯卡金像奖从1929年开始每年评选颁发一次,从未间断。
凡上年一月一日至十二月三十一日上演的影片均可参加评选。
金像奖的评选经过两轮投票:第一轮是提名投票,先由学院下属各部门负责提名(采用记名方式),获得提名的影片,将在学院本部轮流放映,观后学院的所有会员再进行第二轮投票(采用不记名方式),最后以得票的多少决定影片是否获奖。
2013年5月4日美国电影艺术与科学学院宣布,根据它即将实施的一项新规定,所有会员均有权参加一年一度的奥斯卡奖最佳外语片和最佳纪录短片奖最终表决,从而为会员参加影艺学院组织的所有活动提供便利。
奖杯
奥斯卡金像奖奖杯的主体为一座13.5英寸高、3.9千克重的镀金男像,由美国雕塑家乔治·斯坦利设计。
按照奥斯卡奖评选规则:一项奖的获得者只能领取一个金像奖座,如果一项奖有两人或多人共获,则应分别授予每人一个金像奖座。
