Goundless BeliefWhat is goundless belief ? As far as I am concerned , groundless belief could be defined as something unnecessary since there are no facts to be based on them . And also can be described as proprosition resting upon mere tradition ,or on someboby’s bare assertion unsuppoted by even a shadow.There is a groundless belief of mine which I have already thought for years: to follow the majority when facing with difficult decisions.It comes from the mouth of the teacher who is in charge of my class in primary school. And I even forget how many times she has mentioned the correctness of this belief. She then explained that things were done by few people might be wrong, but when done by the majority, it could not, for it was not possible that all people hold the same wrong opinion. And even if the majority were wrong indeed, they could still find an excuse to defend for them and make themselves forgiven by others.I thought it was reasonable at that time, because every time in, primary school, I tried using this method to deal with decisions, I succeeded and sometimes I could even get praise.However, it was from that time that I began to question this belief. There was a young teacher who taught us Chinese in myhigh school. Due to seriously lacking of teaching experiences and interacting properly with students, she earned a very bad reputation among us so that it came out a students’ strike. And my class was involved in it. The” leaders” had made a deal: students who were in favor of the strike should not be present.Actually I was hesitant when hearing the “move”, but since the majority had decided, why not follow?There was no doubt that the result was severe. “Leaders” were all punished and we, the followers were asked to write a paper to apologize for disobeying the rules of the school.From this experience, I learn that we should think over before doing things and insist on the right thing even though it may be proved wrong by the majority.。
