恺撒大帝，全名盖乌斯· 尤利乌斯· 恺撒， 生活于前102年7月13日—前44年3月15日， 罗马共和国末期杰出的军事统帅、政治家。 恺撒出身贵族，历任财务官、祭司长、大法 官、执政官、监察官、独裁官等职。前60年 与庞培、克拉苏秘密结成前三头同盟，随后 出任高卢总督，花了八年时间征服了高卢全 境（大约是现在的法国），还袭击了日耳曼 和不列颠。公元前49年，他率军占领罗马， 打败庞培，集大权于一身，实行独裁统治 （约5年）。
与凯撒之争
前53年克拉苏死，同盟趋于解体。前50年与 元老院联合反对凯撒。前49年1月凯撒进军罗马， 他率军退守希腊。庞培被凯撒穷追不舍，向埃及 托勒密求援。托勒密亲自到海岸欢迎他，但是埃 及国王和他的朝臣们早已决定不冒触怒胜利者凯 撒的风险。当庞培举足踏上陆地的时候，就遭到 背信弃义的突然袭击，遇害身亡。埃及人割下他 的头颅，焚化了他的尸体。
凯撒之死
凯撒进了元老院，对现场的异常气氛似乎没有任何觉察。 只见他大摇大摆地来到大厅正中为他特设的黄金宝座上坐下， 笑着说：今天不就是3月15号吗？ 这时，有人声称有问题要向他请示为名向他靠近，走到 身前就一把抓住凯撒的紫色长袍——这就是动手的暗号！ 一伙人一拥而上，用暗藏的匕首和短刀一阵乱捅乱砍！ 凯撒拼命躲闪，身上多处受伤。当他看到自己最信任的一个 人刺来致命的一剑的时候，忍不住惊呼：布鲁图斯，你也在 内吗？我的孩子？

克拉苏出生在一个优越的环境中，是家中三个孩子 中的老二。克拉苏的父亲普布利乌斯〃克拉苏早就是 罗马首富、元老院议员，而且曾经因军功在罗马城举 行过“凯旋仪式” 。他在成年后不仅一直作为元老院 的议员，也先后担任过大法官（公元前73年）、执政 官（公元前70年与前55年）和叙利亚总督（原本任期 为公元前54年—49年，但克拉苏于公元前53年阵亡） 等重要官职，并作为富人阶级的代表和将军庞培一道 参加了凯撒成立的“前三头”联盟。
军事才能
凯撒如愿以偿地获得了高卢（实际上是南高卢，即今法国南部 地区）总督的职位。从公元前58—49年的10年里，他统率驻扎在这 里的四个罗马军团，发动了8次远征，占领了800多个城堡，歼灭和 俘获了200多万北高卢人，把罗马的边界推到了莱茵河边。最后干 脆带兵越过了莱茵河，进入日耳曼地区，并派兵渡过英吉利海峡， 攻入了大不列颠（今英国），建立了古罗马前所未有的战功！ 公元前49年，凯撒率大军攻克了罗马。庞培和大批贵族元老仓 皇出逃。凯撒一路追击，在希腊再败兵力占有绝对优势的庞培联军， 庞培只好到埃及祈求庇护。作为古罗马的附属国，埃及国王托勒密 十三世还算会做事，他让人杀了庞培，向凯撒献上人头。凯撒回到 罗马，受到民众英雄般的欢迎。到公元前45年，集政治、军事、司 法和宗教大权于一身，成为终身独裁官，称帝只不过是时间的问题。

格奈乌斯•庞培（拉丁语： Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus，前106 年－前48年），古罗马共和国时 期的政治家和军事家。勇悍善战， 凶残嗜杀，于前三头同盟中势力 最强。
军事才能
贵族出身。17岁随父参加同盟者战争。 前83年投靠贵族派首领苏拉，先后在西 西里、北非作战，征讨G.马略余部。前 71年参与镇压马略部将领导的塞多留起 义，并协助克拉苏镇压斯巴达克起义。 前66～前65年征服本都,结束米特拉达梯 战争,继而吞并叙利亚和巴勒斯坦，于前 61年凯旋罗马。翌年（前60年）庞培与 克拉苏和凯撒结为“前三头政治同盟” （Big Three controlling），左右罗马政局。
人物评价
克拉苏的权势和人望主要是靠他的各种政治手段建 立起来的（这和庞培完全不同，尽管他同庞培发迹之初 的道路几乎没什么不同，都是投奔苏拉，在他麾下作 战），但庞培的军事成果实在第一人的位置不 可能，后来又出现了一个恺撒。 克拉苏虽然不作为军事将领而闻名于史，不过他的 确是那时代罗马人中的最杰出者之一。他虽然死得并不 光彩，却依然保留着罗马人最高贵的品质。
