本课时的教学对象为高二的学生,已经具备了一定的知识储备,基本掌握了高中英语的学习方法和策略,了解一定的阅读技巧,并形成了初步的阅读策略,但我所任教学校为一所普通高中,大部分学生的基础知识仍然比较薄弱,运用英语进行交际活动的能力较差阅读技巧运用不太熟练,词汇量较少,在生词猜测能力方面欠佳,尤其是遇到长幅的文章时,容易生畏难心理.所以,考虑到学生的这些情况,对于本课的设计,课前就要求学生对精读课文相关的单词进行多次的朗读和识记,在学习活动设计上,也尽可能降低难度,满足更多学生的需求,让更多学生理解这篇文章,重点培养学生的阅读技巧,强其自信心和参与的积极性。

文章的标题为Traveling abroad,主要介绍了主人公谢蕾第一次去国外求学进预科班所面临的问题,以及房东和导师对她的帮助,使她大胆正视困难,迎接挑战,最终树立了信心。
Pre-reading部分提出的两个问题不但要求学生讨论国外学习的优缺点并阐明自己的观点,同时预测阅读课文中的主人公在英国学习可能遇到的困难。

因此指导学生掌握良好的阅读方法和策略就显得非常重要。
在语言知识方面,学生英语基础比较薄弱,阅读文章中生词较多,所以要求学生课前就将单词预习好,这样可以消除阅读时遇到的障碍,还要提醒学生不要预习课文,以免影响课内阅读训练。
