原因如下：当Terell发现第六代人造人随着不断的经历会逐渐产生自我情感导致困扰和反抗这个致命bug后，他开始进行下一步实验，即将某真人的记忆移植到人造人的大脑，通过逼真的“记忆”使人造人确信自己是普通的“人类”，并可以由此基点在经历中发展情感，从而避免疑虑和困惑如无根之木般扩散。
而Racheal便是第七代人造人的实验品，她被注入了Tyrell 侄女的记忆。
所以当Rachael确信自己是照片中的那个少女时，她可以做一百道、一万道测试题而不会fail，但一旦自己开始怀疑人造人的身份时，她便会表现异常。
由此引发的一个问题：Deckard自己是否也是人造人？尽管他的钢琴架上插满了承载着“记忆”的老照片，我们仍可以安全地说，他的确是replicant，线索如下：(1) 梦中的独角兽竟最后被Gaff所知（房间留下的独角兽折纸），最充分的证明了他，Deckard，也是人造人，而独角兽就是被注入的记忆之一。
(2) 当屋顶的Batty死后，Gaff走来说了一句：“You've done a man's job, sir.” 注意这个“man's job”，隐喻什么？（同时，这句话在Deckard几乎被Batty戏耍甚至自己生命都要敌人来挽救后讽刺意味强烈）(3) 当Deckard在街中被Leon痛殴时，Leon问他：“How old am I?”---“Four years”然后Leon说了句“More than you! Painful to live in fear, isn't it?”隐指Deckard比Leon晚生产，而且同样生活在恐惧中。
后面Batty对悬木下的Deckard又说了一遍：“Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it?That's what it is to be a slave.”(4) 在Batty千钧一发抓住坠下的Deckard的一刹那，他说了“Kinship!”说明他应该知道他们都是同类。
(5) 整个片子过程可以看出Deckard很惧怕警长Bryant，而其模棱两可的威胁似乎也隐含着Deckard是人造人。
(6) Rachael曾经问Deckard：“Did you ever take that test yourself? Deckard?”，同样是一种暗示。
这种记忆被“制造”、人类被控制的理念在后来的Matrix 里发扬光大，但我们同样可以扪心自问剧中的问题：“我们是谁？从哪里来？”或许这些论题在库布里克的2001: A Space Odyssey给出了更有穿透力的质疑和更疯狂的解题思路，无论如何，记忆的真实性、生命的可信度，永远值得我们上下求索。
此外，Gaff的身份神秘而隐蔽，令人云里雾里的cityspeak，无人知晓的他的背景和作用，而他的三次手工作品更是深刻隽永：(1) 警局里折的chicken，是暗指Deckard是“little man”没有选择的权利？还是说Deckard懦弱不敢去retirereplicant？(2) 一个站立的火柴人（男性），暗示他已经知道Rachael找过Deckard了？(3) 很明确，折纸独角兽是一个信息：我知道你也是人造人，我来过这里，我放过你们两个。
