利益试题解析:1. answering the phone当听到what sort of work is it ?
It’s answering the phone.
2. Hillsdunne Road
由题目work inthe。
当听到we havetwo branches.
4. 4.45 题目和原文一致的词是pay,当听到could I ask about the pay?
And we also offer extra pay for working on nationalholidays中的and和also都表示并列,而且此题几乎是原句,所以比较简单。

W: What’s the matt er, Rob?M: I just locked my keys in my car and I have to be at work in half an hour.Q: What is Rob’s problem?7. M: Hello, this is John Hopkins at the Riverside Health Center. I’d like to speak to Mr.Jones.W: I’m sorry. Mr. Hopkins, my husband isn’t at home. But I can give you his office phone number. He won’t be back until 6 o’clock.Q: Where does Mrs. Jones think her husband is now?8. M: I don’t think we can find a better hotel around here at this time.W: Let’s walk a little further to see if there is another one. I just can’t bear the traffic noise here.Q: What will the speakers most probably do?Now you will hear two long conversations.Conversation OneW: Welcome to Friday Cinema. Would you like to purchase a movie ticket?M: Umm…I want to know when “King Kong” is showing?W: There are 5 shows today. One at noon, and then 2 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. On the weekend, besides these 5 shows, there is another show at midnight.M: I’m sorry. Could you tell me the show times for today, again?W: There are 5 shows today, one at noon, and then 2 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. M: OK. I want 6 tickets for the 11 p.m. show tonight. Are there still 6 tickets available that are seated together?W: Sorry. There are only three tickets left. How about the 8 p.m. show? There are still10 tickets left for that one.M: But I have a friend who doesn’t get offwork till 8 p.m., so he won’t make the beginning of the movie.W: Well, I think it should be OK if he misses the first ten minutes.M: He works about an hour’s drive from this movie theater though, so he will never be able to make it in time.W: Would you like to see another movie then? M: No, we all want to see this one. Is there any way that we could buy tickets now for tomorrow?W: Yes, you can order tickets right now for tomorrow.Questions 9 to 11 are based on the conversation you have just heard.9. When does the cinema have another show on the weekend?10. Why can’t his friend come for the 8 p.m. show?11. How many tickets are left for 11 p.m. show?Conversation TwoM: I really don’t know what to do this summer.I can’t afford to just sit around, and theredon’t seem to be any jobs available.W: Why don’t you try house-sitting? Last summer my friend Margaret house-sat for the Dodds when they went away on vacation. Mr. Dodd hired Margaret to stay in their house because he didn’t want it left empty.M: You mean the Dodds paid Margaret just to live in their house?W: It wa sn’t that easy. She had to mow the lawn and water the houseplants. And when Eric house-sat for Dr. Cohen, he had to take care of her pets.M: House-sitting sounds like a good job. I guess it’s a little like baby-sitting except you’re taking care of a house instead of children.W: The student employment office still has a few jobs posted.M: Do I just have to fill out an application? W: Margaret and Eric had to interview with the homeowners and provide three references each.M: That seems like a lot of trouble for a summer job.W: Well, the homeowners want some guarantee that they can trust the house-sitter. You know, they want to make sure you’re not the type who’ll throw wild parties in their house, or move a group of friends in with you.M: House-sitters who do that sort of thing probably aren’t paid then.W: Usually they’re paid anyway just because the homeowners don’t want to make a fuss. But if the homeowner reported it, then the house-sitter wouldn’t be able to get another job. So why don’t you apply?M: Yeah, I think I will.Questions 12 to 15 are based on the conversation you have just heard.12. What does the man want to do this summer?13. What did the Dodds do when they went away last summer?14. What is the responsibility the house-sitter p robably wouldn’t have?15. How do homeowners determine the reliability of a house-sitter?Section BDirections: In this section, you will hear 3 short passages. At the end of each passage, you will hear some questions. Both the passage and the questions will be spoken only once. After you hear a question, you must choose the best answer from the four choicesmarked A), B), C), and D). Then mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2with a single line through the center.Passage OneMr. Foster started his publishing business with only one magazine. It was called World News. Mostly it had summaries of important week events from around the world. But it always included one or two stories about interesting people. Mr. Foster put these in because he believed all people liked to readabout other people. Several years ago, Mr. Foster started two other magazines. One was called Enterprise. It is for business people. And the other was called Action, for sportsmen. Like World News, they always had two or three stories about interesting people. Five years ago, Mr. Foster got another idea for a magazine. He wanted this one to have even more stories about people than the others and to have more photographs. This one was named Faces and Places. From the very beginning it was a big success.Questions 16 to 18 are based on the passage you have just heard.16. Why did Mr. Foster add stories about interesting people to the magazine World News?17. Which magazine is a sportsman most likely to buy?18. What is Mr. Fos ter’s profession?Passage TwoSports and games are very useful for character training. In their lessons at school, boys and girls may learn about such virtues as unselfishness, courage, discipline and love of one’s country. But what is learned in booksc annot have the same deep effect on a child’s character as what is learned by experience. As most of the pupils’ time is spent in classes studying lessons, the ordi nary day school can’t give much practical training for their lives in the future. So it is what the pupils do in the spare time that really prepares them to take their places in society as citizens when they grow up. If each of them learns to work for his team, and not for himself on the football field, he will later find it natural to work for the good of his country instead of only for his own benefit.Questions 19 to 21 are based on the passage you have just heard.19. What is the speaker’s opinion about learning from books?20. Why isn’t ordinary day school unable to give pupils much trainin g for their future lives?21. What can help to develop the child’s love of his country according to the speaker?Passage ThreeYou may realize that fog is simply a cloud that touches the ground. Like any cloud, it is composed of tiny droplets of water, or inrare cases, of ice crystals that form an ice fog. Ice fog usually occurs only in extremely cold climates. Because water droplets are so tiny, they don’t solidify until the air temper ature is far below freezing, generally thirty degrees below zero Celsius or lower. The droplets of fogs are nearly spherical. The transparency of fog depends mainly on the concentration of droplets—the more the droplets are, the denser the fog is. Since water is 800 times denser than air, investigators were puzzled for a long time as to why the water particles in fog didn’t simply fall to the ground, making the fog disappear. It turns out that droplets do fall at a predictable rate, but in fog-creating conditions they are either supported by rising air currents or continually replaced by new droplets condensing from the water vapor in the air.Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard.22. What is the main topic of the talk?23. According to the speaker, how are fog and clouds related?24. According to the speaker, what characteristic gives ice fog its name?25. What is the main factor that determines the transparency of fog?Section CDirections:In this section, you will hear a passage three times. But the theme park has already suffered bad publicity and it (26) ultimately had to reverse course on its plan to serve shark’s fin soup. After (27) waging a spirited campaign against the Walt Disney Company, environmentalists welcomed the Disneyland’s announcement that it will not serve the Chinese (28) delicacy, shark’s fin soup.Shark’s fin soup is a traditional dish at Chinese banquets and weddings. While many enjoy it for its taste and reputed healthful (29) properties, it is most popular as a sign ofstatus. Because it is expensive and requires intensive preparation, many Chinese (30) associate it with wealth and power.Disney came under fire when it said it would serve the dish at two of the (31) attraction’s hotels. Green Peace, the international environmental organization, says the company was neglecting its (32) publicized commitment to protecting endangered species.Disney said that although it takes environmental stewardship seriously, it wanted to balance those concerns with cultural (33) sensitivity to Chinese customs. But, the environmentalists say that (34) their argument does not justify over-fishing shark populations for what they call a vanity dish. We have to bear in mind that times change and that if a particular habit or custom is unsustainable, we should get rid of it.(35) Central to this conflict between culture, commerce and conservation is the decline of shark populations around the globe. Many scientists say (36) the number of sharks worldwide has dropped by half over the past 15 years, and some species may have declined by more than 70 percent.。
1. This paragraph is not coherent. Revise it for coherence. The ancient Egyptians were masters of preserving dead people's bodies by making mummies of them. Mummies several thousand years old have been discovered nearly intact. The skin, hair, teeth, fingernails and toenails, and facial features of the mummies were evident. It is possible to diagnose the disease they suffered in life, such as smallpox, arthritis, and nutritional defic iencies. The process was remarkably effective. Sometimes apparent were the fatal afflictions of the dead people: a middle-aged king died from a blow on the head, and polio killed a child king. Mummification consisted of removing the internal organs, applying natural preservatives inside and out, and then wrapping the body in layers of bandages.Key:The ancient Egyptians were masters of preserving dead people's bodies by making mummies of them.
