Since the invention of printing, stories have been part of the world’s liter ature. The fairy tales, legends and fables we know today have often come from far in the past. One of the greatest storytellers of all time was Aesop, a Greek slave who lived around 600 B.C. Although there are some stories with human interaction, Aesop mostly told stories about animals who were the main characters in his fables. In a typical Aesop fable, the story shows how a problem is solved and a moral is learned. Aesop’s stories include “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and “The Tortoise and the Hare.” They were first written down around 300 B.C. In fact, experts disagre e on the exact origins of at least some of the fables themselves since there are several stories which are similar to Hindu and Buddhist tales. We may never know the answer to this question because the stories were told roughly around the same periods in human history. Also, the writing of these famous fables, Greek or otherwise, was not actually put into writing until centuries after Aesop’s death.17. What is a synonym for the word story?a. fableb. talec. legendd.
