After reading "Lady Chatterley's Lover" by D.H. Lawrence, I am left with a complex mix of emotions and thoughts. The novel delves into the themes of love, desire, and the constraints of society, and I found myself deeply engrossed in the story of Lady Constance Chatterley and her affairwith the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. One of the most striking aspects of the novel is its exploration of the impact of societal norms andexpectations on individual happiness and fulfillment. Lady Chatterley's struggle to find meaning and passion in her life, despite the limitations placed upon her by her social status and the expectations of her husband, is bothpoignant and thought-provoking. This theme resonated with me on a personal level, as it made me consider the ways in which societal pressures can stifle our true desires and prevent us from living authentically.Additionally, the novel's portrayal of the physical and emotional relationship between Lady Chatterley and Mellorsis both sensual and raw. Lawrence's prose is evocative and unapologetically explicit, and I appreciated the way hedelved into the complexities of human desire and intimacy. The characters' journey towards self-discovery andliberation from societal constraints is both compelling and, at times, heartbreaking.Furthermore, the novel's exploration of nature and the contrast between the industrialized, modern world and the natural, untamed landscape is a powerful metaphor for the characters' inner struggles. Lawrence's vivid descriptionsof the natural world served as a reminder of the inherent connection between humans and the environment, and I found myself reflecting on the ways in which our disconnection from nature can contribute to our feelings of alienationand discontent. In conclusion, "Lady Chatterley's Lover" is a novel that deeply moved me and left me with a renewed appreciation for the complexities of human relationships, the impact of societal expectations, and the beauty of the natural world. Lawrence's unflinching exploration of love, desire, and the human spirit has left a lasting impression on me, and I believe that this novel will continue to resonate with readers for generations to come.
儿子与情人英文读后感(范文模版)第一篇:儿子与情人英文读后感(范文模版)Sons and Lovers Sons and Lovers was wrence's first major novel. His only major novel, some would say;but even readers who are out of sympathy with him, or who feel that his gifts were not really those of a novelist, have usually been happy to make a wholehearted exception in this one case.It is a book that goes straight to the point, at the outset and at almost every subsequent stage.Between them his two methods leave us in no doubt where the heart of his story is to be located.Gertrude Morel is a woman of high principle, of character and refinement. Her husband is a miner who can barely read and write.Marrying him for passion, she is bitterly disappointed by his rough manners, his drinking, what she can only see as his weakness and irresponsibility. When the book opens, the marriage has already turned into a battlefield, and the love she has withdrawn from Morel is being redirected toward the first of her children. In the previous chapters, Gertrude Morel is most devoted to her eldest son William. But after he dies of a skin disease, she plunges into grief.Seeing William is gone, she rededicates her life to Paul, and this revives her.She teaches her son art, education, and social advancement. She lives for her sons and will do anything to see them make their way in the world.Mrs.Morel is terribly tired of her involvement in Paul and Miriam's relationship and decides to stop intervening. She knows that Paul is an adult now and that there is nothing she can do to stop Paul from seeing Miriam. She feels that she can never forgive her son for sacrificing himself to love Miriam. As it mentions above, Paul has begun to realize how much his mother affects hislife. Her deep love for him has made her a part of himself that when he wants to break free from his mother, he is unable to get away from her.His mother is ingrained into his very soul. That’s to say, his mother influences Paul very much, and which proves to be for worse to him. When Paul finds girlfriend, he always find the girl who takes after his mother, not only the out look but also in mental. But in fact he could not find such girl.So it lead to that he never willing to be bound to Miriam in marriage or to Clara in physical love.At last Paul has begun to realize how much his mother affects his life. Her deep love for him has made her a part of himself that when he wants to break free from his mother, he is unable to get away from her.His mother is ingrained into his very soul.T o sum up, Paul’s mother has some bad influence on him and to a large extent changes his life.

Lover is a novella written by French writer Marguerite Duras, and it is also his masterpiece. His works won the French gongur literature award. The novel reveals the feelings and reflections of men and women on sex in modern French society from different perspectives, and reflects the different aspects of emotional life in the western world. It is a work with autobiographical color. Taking the life of French colonists in Vietnam as the background, it describes the deep and hopeless love between a poor French girl and a rich Chinese young master. The strokes reach some of the most fundamental and secret characteristics of human nature and are thought-provoking. Content abstract: my father, the protagonist, is full of hope. His family has traveled across the ocean from France to Vietnam, but nothing. My father died in a foreign land, and my mother opened a French school to support me and my two brothers. In childhood, my mother spent all her savings to buy a piece of land by the sea in Kampot Province, Cambodia. However, due to the lack of gifts, no one from the corrupt land management department told her thatthe land could not be cultivated. Every year, the land was submerged by the sea for six months. The mother and the local people failed to build the dam until they went bankrupt. I study in a school for the French outside Saigon national boarding school. I often take cars and ferries between school and home. (he fell in love with her at the first sight, so that he began to stumble and speak incoherently) one day when he was 15 years old, on the ferry from his mother's school to a place for vacation, a Chinese man 12 years older than me fell in love with me at first sight and took the initiative to send me back to school in his black car. The young man is a Chinese. He lives in a villa with blue glass railings on the Bank of the Shali river. His family was well-off, and his father was one of the members of the financial group that controlled the real estate of the vast number of residents of the colony. Since his mother died, he rushed back from Paris to attend the funeral for his mother. He is an only son. His father is dictatorial and has financial power. After that, we often meet privately in a single room apartment in the south of the city. We talked very well together. At the age of 15, I knew that pleasure was a part of me. Although I don't know what pleasure is, I'm used tothe eyes of the colonial men. Soon, in this single apartment, I hope he will bring women to his room as usual and offer my virginity, even though I am still an immature child. After that, we kept seeing each other in this apartment. He is madly in love with me. For me, I want his money more. (there is no doubt that she is young, beautiful, smart, proud, stubborn, sensitive and self abased) I need his money to treat my sick mother in bed. I need his money to provide pleasure for my obscene brother. I need his money to change this poor home. This yellow lover took our whole family to high-end restaurants and nightclubs to satisfy our sad vanity and self-esteem. I live in a broken, weird and twisted family. Simple and strong, but was deceived by the world, doting on the eldest son until the death of the mother; A cruel, ugly, surly and gambling brother; A kind little brother who died in his prime. They despise my Chinese lover, oppose him, but acquiesce in him. For a year and a half, we have been seeing each other again and again to meet the needs of our emotions and desires. (I don't know whether it's uncontrollable or a little scheming, she sent a turning kiss across the window glass) but this relationship is still a sad and desperate love after all. Unable to overcome theprejudices of color and nationality, I had to leave**and return to Paris to settle down. He could not get rid of the shackles of feudal ethics for thousands of years, and had to obey his parents' orders and marry a Chinese girl he had never met. Many years later, I got married, gave birth, divorced and started writing. He and his wife came to Paris and called me. He said that he still loved me as before. If he did not stop loving me, he would love me until he died. Postscript: the first time I watched lover was probably in my freshman year. At that time, I was in a period of confusion and chaos.I spent every day brushing dramas and reading novels. One day, I hid in bed and was absorbed in painting the movie. I was suddenly interrupted by my roommate in the upper bunk: watching erotic movies again! The film glanced at the beginning, pressed fast forward several times, and hurriedly browsed to the end. So I was not particularly impressed by the film at that time. At that time, he was innocent and ignorant. He thought that only Platonic love, colorless and lustless, could be regarded as the most pure and beautiful love. At that time, he really could not understand the feelings between a man in his thirties and a girl in his teens. A fewdays ago, Fang Jue reviewed the old film and found that there are countless classics in this film. For example: 1 At the first sight of her, he became incoherent. A playboy who has been in love for many years, because of his extreme love, even chatting up seems very clumsy. His eyes want to stare at her, but he dodges and dare not look directly. 2. she got into his car. Between them, separated by a person's distance, his hand could not help extending, testing, approaching, and then tightly clasping her hand. 3. her kisses across the window made him tremble and gave him endless aftertaste (Liang Jiahui's acting is really not covered) 4 For the first tryst, he could not wait for it. But facing the beauty at hand, he hesitated again: she was still an underage girl. At that moment, he was full of love and treasure for her. 5. Before performing the family engagement, he courted her almost humbly. In front of his father's bed, he always obeyed his father's orders. He earnestly asked his father to discuss their future: let's get married for one year. One year later, I listened to my parents' arrangements. 6. he asked her for the last time: do you love me? Or love my money? At first, he was full of expectation until he got a negative answer. He was desperate as ifhe had died once. The whole person was as weak as a molting mollusk: I had nothing but money! Some classic old movies can only be understood by accumulating certain life experience at a specific age. When I'm 40 years old, I'll review this film again. Maybe my experience will be different. Liangjiahui's acting skills have exploded.I highly recommend you to have a look.。

English:"The novel "The Lady of the Camellias" by Alexandre Dumas fils is a heartbreaking tale of love, sacrifice, and the inevitability of fate. The character of Marguerite Gautier, a beautiful courtesan who falls in love with a young man named Armand Duval, embodies a complex mix of vulnerability, strength, and ultimately tragic consequences. As their relationship blossoms, we see the challenges they face due to societal expectations, illness, and misunderstandings. Marguerite's ultimate sacrifice for love is both noble and devastating, highlighting the power of human emotion and the harsh reality of the world she inhabits. The novel's exploration of themes such as love, morality, and societal norms is thought-provoking and timeless, leaving readers with a deep sense of empathy and introspection long after the final pages."
The Lover by Marguerite Duras is a beautifully written novel that enthralls the reader from the first page to the last. The novel is set in the French colony of Vietnam in the early 1930s, where a young French girl falls in love with an older Chinese businessman, known to her and to readers only as the "Lover."The story is told through a series of flashbacks that alternate with the present that follows the protagonist, who's now an adult woman, returning to Saigon, where the memories of her youthful romantic liaison with the Lover come flooding back. The novel's narrative structure is intricately crafted and reflects the fragmentation of memories associated with the protagonist's youth and the hazy, dreamlike quality of her recollections. The Lover is a poignant love story that defies traditional notions of romantic love. The heroine's romance with the Lover is unrestrained, passionate, and sensuous, and weaves through the lines of the book, capturing readers just as it captivated the heroine. She, a mere teenager, falls passionately and recklessly in love with a man almost double her age, with few shared interests, against all odds. They fall into each other's arms in passion, exploring their feelings through sex and eroticism, which becomes a significant element in their incredible relationship. However, what is so striking about The Lover is the way that the novel explores the complexities and ambiguities of love, desire and power, both within the context of the protagonist's experiences as a young girl growing up in colonial Vietnam, and as an adult woman coming to terms with the memory of her relationship with theLover. The novel captures the essential theme of lover's anonymity and the absolute secrecy of their relationship. The Lover is a compelling exploration of the power dynamics of love and desire, as well as of the intersections of race, class and gender. Marguerite Duras conveyed these themes in evocative and poetic language, which creates a beautifully atmospheric and haunting novel. In conclusion, The Lover is a captivating novel that explores the power dynamics of love, desire, and identity. It's a beautifully written book that immerses the reader in both the world of French colonial Vietnam and the complex emotional landscape of the novel's protagonist. Despite having been published over thirty years ago, The Lover remains a classic novel, firmly embedded in the canon of modern literature. One of the most significant themes of The Lover is the way that the novel explores the complex intersections of race, class, and gender. Marguerite Duras delves into these issues by describing the cultural and political landscape of French colonial Vietnam, where the novel is set. The protagonist's family is an example of the colonial class system, where her mother and brothers are wealthy, French-speaking landowners, while the protagonist herself is culturally hybrid, caught between her French and Vietnamese heritage. As the protagonist becomes involved with the Lover, their power dynamics highlight the intersections of race, class, and gender. The Lover is a wealthy Chinese businessman, who is involved in the opium trade, while the protagonist is a young and naive European girl with little money. Their relationship is passionate, but alsofraught with tension and power struggles. The Lover has the power and experience of his age, gender, and social class, while the protagonist has the power of her youth and beauty, and the freedom that comes with not yet being married.Overall, the novel explores the complexities of desire, power, and identity in a colonial context. The Lover is a masterful work of literature, both evocative and poetic, that explores the intricate relationships between individuals and a broader social and political context. Marguerite Duras writes with a unique voice, capturing the sensory details of colonial Vietnam and the emotional intensity of the protagonist's relationship with the Lover. The novel's themes of love and desire, race and class, and identity and power are timeless, making The Lover a classic work of modern literature that is still relevant today.。

So she leaves him. Marguerites love is unselfish. Her self-sacrifice saved Armands reputation. 2---Book Review: “Camille”I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800s,and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it es back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart. When I first began to read the book,I did not care for Marguerite or her attitude or lifestyle, but as I got further into the narrative, I realized that her saucy attitude was a front to cover the lonely woman that she really was. She felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle Armand Duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. It must have taken great courage for Marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. And it also showed that Marguerite really loved Armand Duval for she could even change herself for him. However, happiness didn’t last for long. When M. Duval,Armands father, came to her, pleading for her to leave Armand to save both Armands reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, Marguerite saw a way to bee pure of heart, if not in body. She felt that it was her duty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her during her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. I think Dumass last few lines about Marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and I also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned,we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. A person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. This applies to both men and women in many different types of circumstances: involvement in crime; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poor marriage choices; etc. And this is the fact, which exists in the whole society. As far as the other characters in the book,I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her,but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being Armand and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Comte de G. and Comte de N. wanted her body and appearance. The Duke needed to “wake up and smell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. If he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without “keeping” her himself. And lastly,Prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used Marguerite almost worse than the men. I also think she was jealous of the fact that Marguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly loved her.Last morning, when tiding my bookshelf, I took this book out of the shelf, and a dried flower flew away from the book. It was pale blue, very transparent, with thin fine veins. a dried flower flew away from the book. It was pale blue, very transparent, with thin fine veins. I held it against the morning light and blew on it. The soft breeze carried it away.Camille is justlike the camellia, she could never escape from the destiny of withering. But it wasn’t her fault; it’s because of the evil of Capitalism and the hideousness of that society.Suddenly,I remembered a saying: “Women are like the flowers”. Those pretty women are like those beautiful flowers; their delicate beauty makes people feel they are the miracle of life. However, even the God envies their beauty. It seems that beautiful women always have tragic endings. As we are normal persons, even we can see the hideousness of humanity that results in their fate of withering, we can at most ask quietly in our hearts: Where have those beautiful flowers gone? Where have they gone? 3However, happiness didn’t last for long. After reading "The Lady of the Camellias", also known as "The Camellia Lady" in English, I was deeply touched by the tragic love story of Marguerite Gautier, the protagonist of the novel. The novel, written by Alexandre Dumas fils, is a timeless classic that explores the themes of love, sacrifice, and societal expectations. The story is set in 19th century Paris, where Marguerite, a beautiful and charming courtesan, falls in love with Armand Duval, a young and passionate man. Their love is intense and genuine, but they are ultimately torn apart by the rigid social norms of the time. Marguerite is forced to give up her love for Armand in order to save his family from scandal and ruin. The sacrifices she makes for the sake of love are truly heart-wrenching.What struck me the most about the novel is the complexity of the characters and the depth of their emotions. Marguerite is not just a fallen woman, but a woman who is capable of great love and sacrifice. Armand, on the other hand, is not just a naive young man, but a man who is willing to fight for his love at any cost. Their love story is both beautiful and tragic, and it left a deep impression on me.The novel also sheds light on the hypocrisy and double standards of society. Marguerite is judged and condemned for her lifestyle as a courtesan, while the men who seek her company are celebrated and admired. This double standard is still relevant in today's society, and it made me reflect on the way we judge and treat others based on their social status and choices. The writing style of Alexandre Dumas fils is elegant and poignant, and it effectively conveys the emotions and struggles of the characters. The dialogues are especially powerful, and they reveal the inner turmoil and conflicts of the characters. The descriptions of the lavish society balls, the opulent Parisian salons, and the beautiful countryside also transport the reader to the world of 19th century France. In conclusion, "The Lady of the Camellias" is a captivating and poignant novel that delves into the complexities of love, sacrifice, and societal expectations. The tragic love story of Marguerite and Armand is timeless and continues to resonate with readers today. The novel's exploration of the hypocrisy of society and the depth of human emotions makes it a thought-provoking and emotionally impactful read. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys classic literature and timeless love stories.。
Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" is a haunting and thought-provoking novel that leaves a lasting impact on the reader. The dystopian world she creates is both terrifying and all too believable, shining a light on the dangers of extremist ideologies and the dehumanization of women. One of the most striking elements of the novel isAtwood's skillful world-building. The Republic of Gilead is a society built on the oppression of women, and Atwood paints a vivid and chilling picture of a world where women are stripped of their autonomy, reduced to their reproductive function, and subjected to constant surveillance and control. The stark contrast between the harsh, colorless present and the protagonist's memories of her former life serve to emphasize the bleakness of the current state of affairs.Atwood's use of language is also particularly effective. The first-person narration allows for an intimate and deeply personal exploration of the protagonist's thoughts and feelings, drawing the reader into her harrowing experiences. The sparse, unadorned prose adds to the sense of suffocation and despair that permeates the novel, mirroring the oppressive atmosphere of Gilead."The Handmaid's Tale" is a powerful commentary on the dangers of complacency and the fragility of individual freedoms. It serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of allowing extremist ideologies to take hold, and the importance of vigilance in protecting the rights and dignity of all members of society. In conclusion, Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" is a striking and unforgettable work that forces the reader to confront uncomfortable truths about power, control, and the treatment of women. Its impact lingers long after the finalpage is turned, serving as a powerful call to action to resist the forces that seek to strip away our humanity.。

Be My Lover Be My LoveI can never forget The Lover since I first met her. She was written by Marguerite Duras, who is one of my favorite writers. Duras was described as a mysterious woman when people mentioned her. She was born in Vietnam, and came back to France when she was 18. The experience when living in Asian and the different Eastern culture all gave her an unforgettable impression. The Lover was written when Duras in her seventies. It is said by all the people that this one is more like an autobiography. People always say Duras understand desire, and expound love. The Lover was the last time Duras yelled at the lost time and life. After reading this, you may have a better understanding about desire and love. The Lover tells a story about a teenaged girl and a middle aged man. In the story, they both have no name. The man never called the girl, and so did the girl, she just described him as Chinamen. The man came from China, and he has a rich but traditional family. The girl is French, but she was born in Vietnam. Her mother was just like thousands of French, who were cheated by the France government to settle in Vietnam. They met each other on the board of a ship when crossing the Mekong River. The man came forward to the girl just wanna talk to her. At that time, the man was attracted by the girl all by sex desire. The girl looked at him, and accepted his invitation to go with him on the way back to her school. Certainly she didn’t love the guy, and she did that because of the money.Later, she became the man’s lover. She often came to the man’s house making love with him. They made love every day, seemed never tired. Time after time, they tried to convince themselves that there is only desire of sex and money between them, nothing else. But one day, when they were making love again, the man told the girl” Go with me. I want to take you away. Go with me!” But the girl says” No, I can’t. I’m too young. I can’t leave my mother and my little brother.” The story was doomed to be a tragedy from then on.Afterwards, the man’s family forces him to married a rich woman who he had never seen before, or they would cut the financial support to the man. The man compromised, coz he can’t live with their support. Although he had tried to ask the girl to go with him, but that was destined could n’t work. Even though the girl can finally leave her family, the man can not support they two, coz he has no money and no job.In the end, the man married another woman. On that day, the girl sat on a bridge watching the wedding parade. The world seemed all happy but definitely there’s no joy in their heart. Also on the board of a ship, but this time the ship was sailed to France. The girl was on board without the man. She would leave Vietnam and back to France with her mother. When the ship began to sail, she saw a familiar black car in a corner. She knew it was him.The night on board was very silence, just like the day she met the Chinamen. The girl was standing on the deck. The moon looks a little sorrow. There floated some music from far way. Suddenly, the girl burst into cry, she memorized once upon a time, and she fell in love with a man, who she called him Chinamen.Decades years later, after the girl’s marriage, gave birth to baby and divorce, one day, she received a call, which from the Chinamen. He said he had come to France with his wife, and he still loved her.The whole story was full of depress, replying a feeling that sorrow and unfortunates in life. And describe the upset about the beauty in life. Love can not bring us happy for certainly. But the beauty of the story is also because of its desperation. The love showed by Duras was desperate, the soul is desperate, body is desperate, even the language is desperate. The same desperation was happened on the love between the teenaged white France girl and the middle aged yellow Chinaman on the Mekong River. The novel picture the story by crisscrosses the pictures, which just reflects the desperate depression in the commit incest love between the two persons. This kind of depression and sorrow just recall me of the same kind of story called Lolita, which also tells a commit incest love between a little girl and her step-father. The same kind of depression, gloomy and hot, they all make people addicted to the story just like a person who is addicted in drag. You just could n’t stop but watching it.Actually, I know the girl love the man, not because of the man, but because of love itself. The girl just wants to love and be loved, whatever the person is. She is a white girl living in Vietnam and feel herself was above other people, but unfortunately she was poor and she wanted to change this very much. So she likes wearing boy’s hat and shoes with gold side. When the rich Chinamen appears she knows her chance was really coming. But she did want love, so at last she fell in love with the Chinamen. Then we come back to the man. I think he is really a cowardly man. We can defined that at the first time he met the girl and tried to give her a cigarette, at that time his trembling hand told us everything. He was kind of afraid, because he is a yellow man though he was rich. This kind of racialism has a deep root in the society. But he is also a poor man, he had nothing but money. He was crying after making love because he knew this love had no result. He wanted to married the girl who he loved very much but he could not defeat the traditional view, he was afraid. So he compromised in the end.As you may know, this is a tragedy. The sorrow had showed up when the characters’ first met. This is doomed to be a tragedy. Duras, my dear, you give me love but make me desperate all the time. Just as the Chinamen, I know he really want to tell the French girl that “Please be my lover be my love.” And so does the girl when she on the board the night.。
