欧美流行音乐赏析——westlife（西域男孩）的简介记得在高中的时候，英语老师经常向我们介绍欧美的流行歌手，而在那时当我听到西域男孩的《seasons in the sun》时，便被深深地迷住了，从此，我永远记住了这五个帅气的男生。

而大学里的欧美流行音乐赏析这门课也拉近了我和西域男孩的距离。

故事开始于爱尔兰西北部的小城Sligo，在Hawkswell剧院的演出中，Mark、Kian和Shane相识，在他们进入大学后他们三人便与Micheal Garret组成了一直名叫SC4的四人乐队。

不久之后，同一学校里的Derek Layey和Graham Keighron也加入了该乐队，并将乐队改名为I.O.U。

然而，似乎命运总喜欢作弄人，Shane、Mark和Kian与Boyzone成功签约，而另外三位成员却不得不退出，但或许也正是因为如此才能使如今的westlife有这样的辉煌成就。

之后，Bryan和Nicky也成功的加入了乐队，于是，Westlife便正式诞生了。

这五位男生也正是我们今天所熟知的westlife里的五位成员。

1999年4月9日，Westlife的首支单曲《Swear it Again》便一炮打响，直接到达英国单曲排行榜的头名，而之后推出的《If I Let You Go》和《Flying Without Wings》也带来了巨大的影响，均登上了排行榜的头把交椅。

1999年11月，Westlife发行的首张同名专辑《WESTLIFE》很快达到了700万张的惊人销量，是全世界感到震撼。

而其中的《Swear it again》、《If I Let You Go》、《Flying Without Wings》、《I Have A Dream / Seasons In The Sun》和《Fool Again》也史无前例地成为了冠军曲目。

之后，westlife更是接连创造出了更多的佳绩。

2001年11月12日，推出了专辑《World Of Our Own》，第一周的销量便达到了300000多，成功地坐上了冠军的宝座。

Westlife（官方译名西城男孩；又译西域男孩）是在1998年成立的爱尔兰男子歌唱团体. Westlife在爱尔兰和英国走红,在非洲、澳大利亚与亚洲也很受欢迎。

1999年至2005年间，Westlife有13张单曲唱片在英国高据首位；其数量排名历史第四位，仅次于Elvis Presley、披头士和Cliff Richard。

西城男孩也是英国流行音乐史上唯一一支头七支单曲空降榜首的乐队。

他们也是唯一一个在英国拿过四次“年度最佳专辑”的组合。
