Phoenix Ancient TownI’m very glad to have this chance to describe t he Phoenix Ancient Town which is the most unforgettable place I’ve gone to, and it is located in Xiang xi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province..It is one of the smaller counties in Hunan, but now it is known as the most beautiful ancient town for its long history and well-preserved appearances. Phoenix is not only rich in natural resources, beautiful mountains and rivers, but also possessing many scenic and h istorical sites. Next I will try my best to introduce it’s beauty to you.When the Phoenix Ancient Town first appeared in my sight, it was surrounded by beautiful mountains and covered by thick fog. And then we came to the front gate, seeing the big words—phoenix city, we were becoming very excited. We went down the old-aged street and came to the Tuojiang River. It’s the mother river of this ancient town. It is not very wide but deep, and many visitors chosen to take a boat covered with black matting and tour along the river, which can make it easier for people to go sightseeing the Miao wooden house projecting over the water alon g either side of the bank river and hear the boatman’s folk songs. Finally you would feel yourself keeping far away from the mortal life.Laying above the Tuojiang River is Hongqiao that is an ancient building with a history of more than six hundred years.It was built at the beginning of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, and consists of two floors. The first floor is a capacious pavement for people to come and go, with shops on both side, selling all kinds of folk arts and crafts, local goods and etc. The second floor is the belvedere and also demonstrating the tea ceremony. Shen Congwen was born in Dec.28th,1902 andspent his childhood and adolescence here.Next ,we also visited The Former Residence of Xiong Xling, the Ancestral Hall of Yang ,Wanshou Palace as well The Eastern Gate Tower.Above all ,I have to talk about the Miao Village .It will take 40 minutes from the southern gate of phoenix town to Shanjiang town. Passing the Miao Singing stage, walk for about 500 meters and you will arrive the Miao Village.
