treat vt. 治疗

He is being treated in hospital now. 他现在正在医院接受治疗。

﹙1﹚ treat 对待。 常用短语为：treat…as/like… 把……当做……来对待

② 他对自己的狗很好。 She treated her dog very kindly.

辨析 treat, cure

treat 表示动作，为普通意义上的治疗。

cure 意为“治愈”， 强调治疗结果，多用于疾病方面。cure somebody of something

即学即用

用cure 与 treat 的适当形式填空。

① The doctor cured the patient of his illness.

②The doctor istreating his broken leg now.

③ The man says that he has a magic cure for cancer.

④ I decided to treat myself to a new dress.

2. Have you ever seen a doctor? If so, what happened?

If so 是一个省略形式。 在复合句中，省略一个从句或从句的一部分时，用so 或not 代替被省略部分。

— She may not be free today. 她今天可能没空。

— If so ﹙If she is not free today﹚, we have to report to the manager. 要是那样的话，我们得向经理报告。

此种用法的词组还有：if not 不然，要不；even so 即使如此

即学即用

① 天很热，但即使如此，我们仍然喜欢游园聚会。

② 你完成作业了吗？如果完成了得话，你可以去踢足球了。

Step 2: Explanation:

1. Look at the following sentences. Compare them and tell the part of speech of each

underlined word.

He looked around and saw nothing.

She is looking after the old lady carefully.

In the two sentences, around is an adverb while after is a preposition.

She was so ill that it seemed unlikely that she would pull through.

He has gone through a difficult time recently.

Here the first through is an adverb while the second through is a preposition. So

Project Preventing traffic accidents

T: What do the two pictures above tell us?

S: Terrible accidents happened.

T: Every day we go to school and come back home by bus, by bike or on foot. We

should know how to protect ourselves from the road accidents. Today we will learn a

passage which tells us something about the traffic accidents and road safety.

First, let’s discuss the following questions:
